There is an incident pertaining to this song with Mahaperiyva. *Experience of Lalgudi G Jayaraman with Maha Periava* "One day in the year 1975, Lalgudi and his wife Rajam went to the village of Tenampakkam, on the outskirts of Kanchipuram, to seek the blessings of the Paramacharya of Kanchi. At the Ashram, the atmosphere was one of deep melancholy. Displeased with one of his staff members, the Paramacharya had shut Himself in a room and was observing Kashtamouna vrata, a vow that not only entailed abstinence from food and water but also uncompromising silence which precluded even the subtlest of bodily movements. Sombre as the entire scene was, Lalgudi shelved his desire of getting a darshan of the Paramacharya, but nevertheless decided to offer some songs to the Sage before leaving the Ashram. He began his short recital with a composition in Sama, one of the Sage's favourite ragas. He then moved on to play the song "Sabhapathikku veru deivam samanam aguma?" in the raga Abhogi. While he was engrossed in playing the phrase "Kripanidhi ivarai " a window in the Paramacharya's room was flung open. As the song dren to a close, the door opened and the Acharya walked out, His hand raised in blessing."
