If you’re reading the comments, to decide whether or not to try this or follow her. Do it. Once I started to worry a bit less about the ‘weight loss’ part and focused on health, I finally felt good. Great even! Then the weight started to change. Finding this channel has been one of the best things that’s happened to me in the last few years. Now I show up for myself. I feel good in my skin. *My goals are still a ways off, but I’m getting there. ❤
This is great advice! I too have learned so much from this channel! Had this information been around when I was in high school 25 years ago I might not have developed such bad habits.
After watching your other videos, plus Mind Pump & Dr. Hyman, I've been doing this for 3+ months and lost 30lbs and gained muscle. Moved from 3xx to now 2xx and wanted to say you are completely right! I feel better than ever, and a lot of this is mentally, even though I started with physical goals. I have less brain fog, maybe because of the adaptogens and creatine, but I really do wake up ready for the day. I've been reading a book at night, for no screen time but also adventure on paper. My sleep is better and I wake up ready to go on a walk. Get some warm winter clothes and you'll start to enjoy the seasons, practicing gratitude on a quiet morning. The best thing you can do is start taking care of yourself, the rest will come easy(ier). It's still tough, but check your progress and it'll be worth it! Progress photos are great. I have one outfit that I want to fit back into so I've been checking in on that and so cool to see how much better jeans fit after I've put in the work!
Omg that’s so amazing!! That’s how I want everyone to feel!! I’m so happy for you that you’ve experienced this and that it’s changed your life for the better 🙌🏻
On the subject of sleep, I’ve been struggling with insomnia related to chronic pain (I think I’ll do my PHysio exercises as part of my 30 mins), and noticed that I only feel human when I get at least 1h15 of REM Sleep or (per my Oura ring) and similar numbers for Deep Sleep. I’m taking valerian now and it boosted my REM tremendously. When I take Advil pm I only need 7 hours of sleep and feel refreshed, but if not I can’t fall asleep bc of pain and need 10+ hours to get the REM I need. I’m in an unstable place life-wise (my dad has been in the ICU since Dec 27) so I’m trying not to be too hard on myself, but I needed something like this to focus me and survive this uncertainty.
I did a test in college where i would give myself a time slot of 10hrs of sleep and would measure when i woke up on average i slept around 7.5 hrs so when ever i go to sleep i set an alarm for 7.5 hrs from when i go to bed
So interesting! Did your sleep length vary throughout your menstrual cycle? I find that I need an extra 30-45 minutes on average during my luteal phase
I’m on birth control, not to control “birth,” but to avoid horrific cramps, so I haven’t had a menstrual cycle in years. I had insomnia through my entire teen years, and I’ve never been able to take naps, even as a young child.
1. Exercise for 30+ minutes per day, 2+ days must be resistance training @7:59 2. Eat only whole, unprocessed foods @12:22 3. Go to sleep 9 hours before you need to wake up @18:27 4. Write 3 things you're grateful for - no repeats @21:15 5. Limit social media use to 1 hour @23:29
I’m really excited to start this challenge! but I leave for Jamaica in 28 days where I don’t have much control over food and there will definitely be alcohol 😅 BUT i’m going to do it for the 28 days and then i’ll restart it after my trip!
interesting! thanks for setting this up for us! honestly with 2 little kids the 30mins exercices + 9hours in bed seem VERY challenging to me, others I think I can do it with some organization for the meals. Actually I would add some walking as well every day. bc if I workout 30mins a day and sit on a chair the rest of the time I would still feel being sedentary. If I could do both the walking (getting fresh air, here it is very cold LOL) and the workout on same day that would be amazing!
Would love your take on the concepts of low level deficiencies that are subclinical impacting health like vitamin e? An nutrient deficiencies impacting hunger cues. Side note for people generally: Main thing for seed soil is getting healthy ones and confining them to dressings. Bake with lard or butter.
If you have a deficiency, it’s usually best to correct it. Either through diet or supplements if you can’t do it through diet And I disagree on seed oils. They’re inflammatory, so it’s best to minimize all forms. As far as the challenge goes, they’re not compliant in any shape or form, even dressings.
so it's march 11, and I just found you. If I want to do the 35 thrive (my metabolism is truly f@cked up) I can commit to the 5 tasks... is there anything else I need to do? Lord... and... I'm 72 and can't stand the post menopausal blues (still get hot flashes!) ugh. you make so much sense.
Unfortunately I need to modify it 😭 bc of work I can’t sleep at 6 pm to wake up at 3 am for work when I have class at 6 lol but I still look forward to mostly following it on days I don’t work early.
what about electrolyte powders? should I just switch to lemon and salt? I'm pretty good with the whole food plan... done that for a while now... mainly for packaging purposes. Trying to consume less plastic... the sleep will HANDS DOWN be the biggest game changer. Do naps count towards the 9 hours?
If the only ingredient is flour, yes! Chocolate chips are mostly no. Unless you can find some that use only ingredients you could easily source yourself like: cacao powder + sugar + milk Most conventional coffee creamer wouldn’t be complaint. But there are definitely brands that are compliant! Again, read ingredient labels and see what’s on there. If it’s just heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract, that’s fine!
Easy for me: eating whole foods, gratitude, limiting social media Hard for me: sleeping and exercising for the same respective lengths of time each and every day I don’t think my work schedule would allow 35 days straight of this happening. 😭 I definitely want to get back to more resistance training and get better at sleeping longer and better when I can. I might just have to do that my own way.
@@MissFitAndNerdyThat would work some of the time! Maybe this is a wake-up call that I need to not schedule days when I’m running around like a crazy person from dawn ‘til dusk without any ten minute opportunities to grab some dumbbells, because those days are a thing too.
Yes, you must exercise for 35 days straight, but the exercise can be stretching, mobility work, yoga, etc. So you absolutely don't need to (and shouldn't be) doing intense exercise every day for 35 days straight
@@meglie1 It's like 75 hard in that you have to do 5 things every day for a certain number of days. Other than that, it's a very different challenge with different goals and outcomes :)
This is awesome, I would totally join if I wasn't leaving this weekend for a 3 week vacation! But all the best to everyone participating, and thanks for all you provide Marisa :)
You mean in regards to exercise? You can scale the intensity to whatever you need! Stretching, mobility, yoga, etc are all acceptable forms of exercise for 35 Thrive! So if you can stretch for 30 minutes, you’re good :)
I felt like you were talking to me about my dream life of turning my side hustle of being an author into my full time life. This is the dream for me, as well as really diving into my health, which I also love! 😊 can’t wait, thanks!
My struggle is I work at 7:30am with a 2 hour a day commute. So I have to sleep so early and leave early 😅. I seriously feel like I have no time. I get home and I have 2 1/2 time get get ready for bed😅
I used to commute 2 hr/day too and was working about 80-90 hours a week. So I totally get it -- I've been there! But I still found time to cook 90% of my meals and exercise ~3 hr/week. It comes down to priorities. And iff you have other priorities, that's totally okay!! You just have to take a second to evaluate and make a decision to shift priorities, if neede

signed up and ready to do this challenge! so excited for the results by the end of February, internally especially.
Heck yeah! Let’s do this!
I did a test in college where i would give myself a time slot of 10hrs of sleep and would measure when i woke up on average i slept around 7.5 hrs so when ever i go to sleep i set an alarm for 7.5 hrs from when i go to bed
I almost always wake up after six hours of sleeping.

Ooooo can you do a video next about how you stay productive??? Like if you use a planner or a certain apps and tips on how to stay focused???
I like this idea! I’ll see what I can do
1. Exercise for 30+ minutes per day, 2+ days must be resistance training @7:59
2. Eat only whole, unprocessed foods @12:22
3. Go to sleep 9 hours before you need to wake up @18:27

I just got an under-desk elliptical, which makes a slight difference in sedentary-ness.

You too!
So I don’t have a gym membership or any weights at open. Can I lift my kid? The youngest is like 10 kg.
For me it's very hard to eat completely un-processed foods, since economy plays a huge factor, I hope it's okay to do at least mostly whole foods
Work itttt!!!!!

OK I signed up now I have a few questions about some ingredients!
What about white flour in a bag?
Chocolate chips and coffee creamer?
If the only ingredient is flour, yes!
Chocolate chips are mostly no. Unless you can find some that use only ingredients you could easily source yourself like: cacao powder + sugar + milk

Heck yeah! So excited to have you join us!
OMG! I remember your homemade kombucha journey.
Dudeeee it was so bad 😂😂 But I’ve been thinking about giving it another shot

Feel free to break up the workouts into bite size pieces! You can do 10 min before work, 10 min on your lunch break, and 10 min after work!

Yes, you must exercise for 35 days straight, but the exercise can be stretching, mobility work, yoga, etc. So you absolutely don't need to (and shouldn't be) doing intense exercise every day for 35 days straight
