I had a 1979 that I restored to a good 3 foot example. Really enjoyed it. One day, I stopped at a stop sign. The next thing I knew I was on the ground with the bike on top of me. Didn't pass out, but what happened is lost in time. Told the wife, big mistake. She said "You're in your 70s, that's your last ride". I miss that bike from time to time. Thanks for the memories.
I'm sorry that happened to you. Life is a cruel b!tch! The memories are what's important. So when we are all like that we can be like you and sit back and remember what we DID do!
Love these old UJM's, as a kid they pretty much got cemented in my head as "what a motorcycle should look like". And the CB650 in particular was the first bike anyone gave me a ride on as a kid, it belonged to one of my dad's business associates who visited our house often. It was actually from reading their obituary a month or two ago that I finally found out what kind it was. Just beautiful, I'd love to own one myself some day.
I had this same make and model bike with a few hundred miles on it back in 2003. I thought about learning to ride to get around higher gas prices. At 55 and 60 it was really shaky, and only 2 of the headers were working on it. I started thinking about deer jumping out in the road and would look down and notice that I had slowed considerably. On one hand I get what the myths are about freedom and such, because I was 1000% concentrating on the ride, but it was scary as hell too. I wasn't licensed either and would take it out on the rural highway after midnight. I sold it, and still have all my limbs. It has such a nice profile though.
Lovely machine! I have one in my garage, its my dads but it currently doesn’t run :/ I hope to get it alive soon. He said that I can have it if I get it alive again 😂 (he will regret saying that hahahaha) Why is the tach needle swinging like that?
The tach needle swings at certain rpms. I’ve tried lubing the tach from the back, and it’s improved, but never totally fixed it... I just live with it now. Haha...
Nice CB650! Just picked up a good running 1979 for $1000 with 28,000km in October. Can't wait to get out riding in the spring. Where in Saskatchewan are you? Looks familiar I'm in the Yorkton area
Ooh hey I know were you were riding! Starts with a W and it's in sask. Used to stop in at the shell there for the beer sticks all the time. How is the cb650 for acceleration? I just got a 82 650sc nighthawk for $100.00 from out near Elbow sk....don't know if I should keep it or not.
It’s got a decent amount of power… not like a modern bike, but it still gets up to speed well. I changed the sprockets to reduce engine RPM by about 10%. Now it revs at ~5500 rpm at 110km/h. Before, it was over 6000 at that speed. I’d say your bike is definitely worth keeping and working on, especially at that price!
Tengo la RC05 con motor RC03E igual a la tuya. ¿Me recomiendas una página donde comprar repuestos de ese motor? (Lo Voy a importar) No estoy encontrando Guia de Cadena de distribución ni cojinetes de biela.

You're welcome! I hope to get a few more videos of the 650 up this spring/summer... it's a fun bike to ride (but you already know that)...
Thats why wise men say dnt listen to a woman when doing man stuff !!

@@aaronjackson9274 Oh, well, life goes on. Being on the right side of the grass counts for quite a lot!

I have a cb650 a gs750 and a gl1100

I love old Japanese bikes.
Immediately I thought it looked like you are in Saskatchewan

Thanks for the comments... I'm a little north of Saskatoon... but doesn't all of SK feel about the same? Hahaha

Hey man what kinda bars did you get?
B-E-A-UTIFUL!😃
Thanks! I’ll have to do a few more ride videos this year...
I just got a CB650 for free... can you tell me about the seat and handle bars of your bike?
The bars are clubman style. They came on a parts bike and I liked them. The seat is the original, just shaved down and recovered.
Are parts to get or expensive for this bike?

Nice ride ! I picked one up a couple days ago, where did you get your bars ? Looking for something similar.
They’re clubman bars... I can’t remember where I got them, but they’re quite popular on cafe racer type bikes.
@@carterharyett2161 thanks! Found some that are pretty similar before I saw them on your bike and didn't know how they'd look. Pretty nice !
Your tach cable needs lubed or it is binding somewhere.
Love them bars. What are they?
hmm they look like some clubman cafe bars
is this RC03?
I have a CRF 250L. Was thinking of getting a 650. Low seat for my 5'9" frame and seems quick? Agreed?
I've never ridden a CRF, but the 650 is quick enough for anything I need... and I'm 5'9" as well and it fits quite well... better than my GL1000.
@@carterharyett2161 Thanks!
