Also I know this was recorded a while ago, but next time you need to get something from far away, you can use the nether portals, 1 block on the nether = 8 on the overworld.

I haven't tried applying name tags to bees yet but if you don't want something despawn typically from the updates you need to name them. Unfortunately though I did lose my first world due to an update so I've built multiple from scratch trying to find something at least similar to what I had.
