The precision of Petri's playing as he briskly knocks off such an exceptionally difficult transcription is amazing. His technical abilities are still shocking, even today. Same with Backhaus. They met as children, incidentally. At that time Petri was still intent on being a violinist like his dad!

Ezio Pinza is the best Don Giovanni ever.

Hello, amazing video. By the way, can you comte the Liszt or Chopin etudes, or if possible some busoni works (favorite composer). Also would you consider richter one of these pianists or in the middle?

@@HofmannScoresHey, sorry if I wasn’t being clear enough. I meant to say, is it possible for you to do another bel canto “episode” but with some busoni works or many some Liszt or Chopin etudes, but whatever you want though. Secondly, would you consider Sviatoslav Richter one of these “bel canto” esque pianists from the early 1900s (phrasing wise) or just another pianist. Cheers!

@@kahunaguruguru9809 Yes, I'm planning on doing one for Carmen (since Busoni has an arrangement/phraphrase of it). Chopin/Liszt etudes I'll have to see. Richter I feel like it depends on what he plays. He is less bel canto than the previous Russian pianists I feel (Rachmaninoff, Lhevinne, Hambourg, etc) but nevertheless he's always good in whatever he plays (but rarely THE BEST imo). But he'll be a future videos probably, just maybe not the bel canto ones.

It's Busoni's arrangement from book 6 of his Klavierubung (I'll add the name of the arrangements in the description, sorry I forgot).
