Peter Jackson's trilogy isn't a perfect adaptation. He had to make some cuts and rearrange some thing. However, it is clear on the screen how much he and his team loved TLotR. They put so much time and effort into the films, when they could have half-assed it by CGing everything. But that effort made the films timeless. They are just as good now as when they came out 20 years ago. Amazon's attempt will be remembered and regarded less than the weird old animated movies and even the Soviet TV version of the Hobbit.
It's clear, from the abuse of Tolkien's characters to the switching of all the dialogue, that Peter Jackson and his cowriters showed contempt for the book. In the words of the late Christopher Tolkien: ''they eviscerated the book''.

I wrote my senior thesis arguing Peter Jackson’s LOTR is the greatest book to screen adaptation of all time, and how easily it could’ve been fumbled; citing Eragon and a few others as examples. Little did I know at the time, the examples I used would prove to be leagues better than what we get today. Rings of Power makes the Eragon movie look like a masterpiece by comparison.
I mean we may never be certain about the authenticity of any piece of information or media ever again going forward but at least we're having some fun in our otherwise boring new dystopia.

I wish Hollywood would go back to ADAPTING stories instead of remaking them for modern audiences. The 90s and early 00s were truly the golden age of adaptations of books. From Tolkien to Jane Austin, to JK Rowling. Movies based on books was like seeing the characters and setting leap from the pages. But with DEI initiatives and modern writers who HATE the past, those days are gone and likely will not come back. Hollywood is a monopoly and there is no true competition. Hold on to your old DVDs because if you let go of the great stuff from those golden days, you are completely stuck with Hollywood's modern identity politics infused garbage. There will be NOTHING else. You want an amazing new telling of King Arthur or Mary Shelley or a new Harry Potter series that gets in all the details that the old movies just couldn't do? Well, you will get the woke DEI rendition that checks every identity box whether it needs it or not; rams uncomfortable sexual and gender identity concepts into simple stories for children; and alters the story to make villains more sympathetic and you have to just deal with it. There is no competition and Hollywood will not make anything else.

Firstly: they merge events (from thousands of years of history & build up towards several events but puts them all into one moment as if it’s happening in the same few years without time jumps or anything.) Guyladriel the murderous one dimensional girlboss heroine version of Galadriel never met Miriel(one of Aragorn’s ancestors) because, as an elf, she would have been sacrificed to Morgoth by the King's Men.
The hobbits and Gandalf never met in the 2nd Age because Gandalf was in Valinor till the 3rd Age.

Pinterest shows many of them and model castings by Tolkien fans that curated the best people for the job! So many nice things. Even mornienna did some great work too just like council of the rings rewrite of ROP with full voice acting and illustrations. Fully self funded. Tolkien Untangled did a great job too.

I wrote my senior thesis arguing Peter Jackson’s LOTR is the greatest book to screen adaptation of all time, and how easily it could’ve been fumbled; citing Eragon and a few others as examples. Little did I know at the time, the examples I used would prove to be leagues better than what we get today. Rings of Power makes the Eragon movie look like a masterpiece by comparison.

This seems completely real and I believe every minute of it - bc the facts bare it out! I am, however, a bit worried about this "Echo Chamberlain" guy - to me he seems like either a Russian 'bot' or an AI doppelganger of a trolling UA-camr podcaster...
I am surprised he missed two key points. That he foresees my thrill being supplanted by the Ali might plot armor. The second age was a different time, there was no right or wrong, no borders and no genders, everything was 50 shades of fluidity morally, physically and spiritually.
