Super ! Thanks for that Video
As someone who started playing guitar at age 58 I really appreciate your videos. You are obviously still enjoying the exploration of your guitar and rig, and you are willing to share it in your videos. Thanks.
You're amazing Tim. That's for doing what you do and sharing it with all of us.
You are so awesome. Seriously. My hero.
Best pedalboard video I've seen, thanks! Inspiring for sure.
Very helpful, thank you!
My hero Tim Pierce........ the mad scientist of Toneology
As always, amazingly inspirational. Thank you for the video
Great video. Love it.
Great Job Tim!
Great video, no matter what you play it is always so expressive, just love your playing so much. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on Pedals, brilliant.
soooo generous with your genius !! thanks Tim :-)
damn Tim, you need to hook up with Dan and Mick at That Pedal Show! that would constitute the guitar and pedal encyclopedia Britannia combined with a (fact based) Wikipedia of the UA-cam guitar gear world.
I second this! Tim on TPS would be fantastic
Excitable yet calming Zen-like at the same time. That seems like Tim Pierce.
watching pedalboard videos are so addicting...someone fund me for more pedals! nice video tim!
Thanks for this new video ;)
Maybe there's a market for faux guitar effects boxes to use to fill up the empty spaces on your pedal board.
Very interesting video! I have been checking out your videos for some time :)
One question: Why not compressor? I'd imagine you use that for studio work, or do you add that later on the recording?
Just got very curious...
Hey Tim have you thought of using the gig rig G2? It seems like a system that would be amazing for you
I made a record with Jorge Espino and I have the honor that you collaborated in some of the songs aling with my guitar and they aound awesome, thank you so much
Thank you for mentioning the insert between 6 and 7 where the volume pedal is supposed to go. I didn't know where to put it.
That Overdrive , hey hey , I've got the same one , no regrets !!!!
what keyboard is that at 00:00 ?
Nice Strat.......
Hey Tim, looks like this and the last couple of videos ( I could be wrong) are not up on your site yet. Been really enjoying the more in depth versions and would recommend everyone go check the site out!
Mr Tim, that is soo much information on effects I am terribly terribly lost lol however it's a amazing thing to see and sounded really good and it feel like someone could have a blast playing on it, thank you for your video sir ^^
Great video Tim. To be honest I was uncertain about a video where I didn't get to hear you play and instead was hearing you talk about putting together a peddleboard, but I actually enjoyed the video and it's interesting to see your choices and comments- but now I'll go get a video with you playing more! Thanks for all of it Tim!
Hey Tim if you aren't using that Tim Pierce overdrive pedal anymore I'll give you $100 for it! 😊
só o timbre da intro ja valeu meu like
Hi Tim. Thanks for sharing. I like a volume pedal as well but so far haven't figured out how to prevent tone suck because of the impedance issue. Have a couple of good buffered pedals on my board, have always put volume where you suggest, one instinct that was right, but can hear a difference when I take it out. Thoughts? Thanks again, Richard
Dope
I have the same mxr reverb pedal and now looking for all new drive pedals. I sold everything and I am starting over.
I am curious to know why you needed the power strip on the board when the mondo should power everything on the board? Love your playing by the way. Also please tell me what p/u’s on on the guitar at the beginning of the video.
Great video Tim, although personally I would never use solderless connectors.
Why the guitar put the pick guard to the place not be picked?
Which pedal board are you using an whats the power supply your using an the switching system??? thank You!!!!!
Great sounds and very nice set up Tim, as usual. Have you considered using the MIDI control on the PX-8 Plus for the Eventide H9 and Strymon Timeline? It will expand your capabilities significantly.
Hey TIm, love your videos, I remember you from your live appearances with Rick Springfield back in the 80's, not to mention the countless hit songs/albums you've worked on. Your a legend. My question to you is two-fold: 1- What mod do you have on your Boss GE-7 EQ and are you happy with your Eventide H9 for stuff like Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, etc.. I currently have the Strymon Mobius and its good but i am not crazy about the chorus & phaser. Thanks TIm.
Awesome! Perfect example of what I love to watch from you on YT. By the way, I only didn't follow the signal chain of volume pedal. Do you put the volume after the overdrives etc and before delays, reverbs and modulations? Thank you!
Yes, volume pedal after overdrives is what Tim is doing here.
Kristof Neyens Guitar Thank you very much, sir! ;)
He puts it into the insert between loop 6 and 7. Yes exactly.
What pickups are those in that guitar in the intro? They look like really large gold foils? Sound amazing!
it's a Ronin Mirari! yep, those are gold foils
Scenes, modes, snapshots, they're all great. I have a Helix which uses snapshots to route to combinations of effects. Fractal uses scenes and there's also the incredible Gig Rig. You're pedal board is turning out pretty cool.
Yeah Helix and Axe Fx are great. But I had the Gigrig for a year and it really isn't what they advertise. In fact the Gigrig G2 can't even send midi CC and until the last firmware update you couldn't rout the PC Commands were you want. And I don't have to mention that every firmware update costs around 45€? better pay a little bit more and get a musicom, it can do even more and has a software editor.
aaaah sorry I wanted to say RJM!
I have owned the G2 and had installed the newest firmware and it could NOT send any CC commands it's only capable of PC and before the latest firmware the PCs were fixed to the buttons. So button one was PC001. You had to do all the work with for example the Strymon Timeline. Look at the videos, they hide this pretty well. I do also have a e-mail conversation with on of the Gigrig Techs about this topic were they told me that they want to solve this somewhere in the future. BUT this will cost another 45€ and don't want to mention the waitlist because even their firmwareupdates run out of stock regularly because it's a physical part that you have to insert in the G2. Sorry but I loved the G2 at first sight but as soon as you come up with Midi devices it totally sucks. If it would be sold for 500 Bucks I would accept it but for around 1k with a laptop power supply...
Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the work Daniel does on UA-cam with That Pedal Show but his products aren't comparable in a quality to price range with similar products.
I also have the Helix and the snapshots are great on it. Before having the Helix a had a pedal board and I was doing the foot dance on stage. I no longer do that, plus the Helix sounds great.
Tim, I'd like your opinion on this. As far as conductivity, It it better to use solderless jacks or the ones that use solder? I have to replace one of my guitar cables. Thanks
do pedals make a hissing noise when they touch or ifgheyre too close to each other?or do the cables input outside jacks if they touch will they make a hissing noise also???
In the end you didn't go with solder-less cables?
Can you please explain pros and cons?
I do not know which to chose?
as always, great video! learning so much from a great pro. thanks for sharing your wisdom Tim!🤘
BTW, for your modulation/time based effects, do you run them in front of the amp, thru the fx loop, or at the board? thanks
Again...how do you do your volume pedal? Do you just set it on the floor but plug it into the PX8PLUS insert loop when you play?
MXR Booster/LD or Menatone Red Snapper??? I see in many of you lessons you were using a RS and i love it. But you seen to change to mxr, why?
Nice Tim. I am seeing the Eventide on a lot of boards lately. Is it similar to a line 6 M5? I don't know much about them. Love your OD pedal, albeit I had to put heavy marker on the dials. I have a tough time seeing the settings - sort of like the Fender tweeds with the chrome control plates.
How did you connect your power strip to the power supply?
Hi Tim...why do you have a Micro Amp, an RC Booster and a CAE Boost/Line Driver?
Hi Tim - thanks for all your advice. Where did you get the pedalboard from?
Tim, just curious if you've used the Kemper to model, or something like the TwoNotes to simulate cabs? Rather than route all the cables to the speaker cab in the garage, run the rotary switcher to the two notes, to the computer...or the Kemper to eliminate it all. I love the set up you have, but I'm old school. Just wondering if you've had pressure from the recording industry to change. Or is "old-school" still the best school. Yes, off-topic. Sorry.
What are those pickups?
What you did for fix de pedals in a pedalboard??
Maybe a stupid question, but why are you using a buffer? :-) I have a Moen GEC9 as looping system which has a buffered input
The Boss Vibrato is a buffered pedal, so you don't need the buffer box, isn't it ?
Depends where you put it in your chain.
Mr. Pierce, I recently bought an RSA 23. Question, she has the best edge of break up tone, IMHO, I've ever played. Having said that, I have trouble getting higher gain tones with dirt pedals. Especially in the neck position. Nothing over the top, no metal or anything. Just like a good Voodoo Child loud neck tone without it getting muddy. I feel like lack of headroom. Hoping I'm wrong, or just expecting to much. Fender CS Strat SSS. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
+Robert Hackett I get a spectacular neck pick up tone out of my Strat using a microamp in front of the divided by 13, just keep searching for the right overdrive or boost I think you'll solve it sooner than you think
Thank you so much for your note. Of course your right on, I dug my Xotic BB+, and made progress to be sure. I'll keep at it. I had a MV added, I love it!
You is a Mad Scientist my brother!!!!!!!! lol
Can I ask a seemingly simple question? I'm currently fully pedals but my mates are all saying KEMPER KEMPER!!! I see 14 pedals here, so for arguments sake, let's say $1,400 (probably more).... plus amp is what, total $2,000? (assuming something slight like a Blues Junior)... would it not be more economical to rock up a Kemper and their pedal switcher for $2,500?
Again, always owner's choice. Just wondering what your opinion is.
What mod do you have on the EQ?
Tim, are all your pedals true bypass?
Is that a flotation tank in your garage?
speaker cab. Take a look at Tim's website. There are two videos on his set up. Well worth the time.
That's his Isolation Booth for his Cabs.
What company designed the board? I can't find anyone that makes a board with a switcher/looper attached?
+Robert Hackett Voodoo-labs :)
I guess if we're not the Jedi Master, we have to wait for these boards to be released? I couldn't find one anywhere :(
Appreciate the response to be sure
Is that a mini Joe Bonamassa Wah?
It looks like it could be a mini JB Wah but i cant find one anywhere, it would be new to me if they build one :)
twitter.com/jbonamassa/status/581952508689412096
look at Joes tweet
thanks! :) I haven´t seen that ;)
I'm glad I could help ;)
There is nothing about DIY there ! Or the next step could be to ask voodoo lab to choose your pedals for you ?
Whats the brand of that board?
Did you ever find out? I have been looking for that info as well.
Voodoo Lab
Hi there. Could you please do a tutorial on the PX8PLUS especially the midi stuff. Its really hard for me to understand. Thank you sir for your videos. Also, how do you organize and clean up the spaghetti wire mess of power wires under the board? Thank you.
The non musician would be frightened off..hell I play and it frightened me..I only have overdrive, chorus, delay and vol/wah...having to learn all that on top of learning the instrument..ouch!..but like you say "a work in progress"..
Let me know if you ever need help cleaning out your garage, I'm there...
No doubt Tim is a great player but he definitely hasn’t got a professional pedal board setup. Power strip on the board!?? Pete Thorn or one of Daniel’s setups is what he needs.
I am sure he knows what he needs, really.
Purely out of curiosity (excuse my ignorance), but why not use a MIDI footcontroller like an Axess Electronics, Fractal, etc? I currently use the Axess, and with its ease of programming and total lack of cable, power, and switch space and cabling mess I don't understand why you would do something otherwise unless you reach down and tweak knobs frequently as you play. Even in studio, your rack would likely be right next to you if you were a constant "tweaker." With 12 switches and 6 presets + the ability to press up and down to cycle through banks, you have virtually an unlimited number of "spaces" for pedals and no clutter. You could have a different bank for each song if you wanted. Personally I have 1 amp switcher for the different channels on my amps (or to switch between amps or simultaneously activate another) for wet and dry and clean and dirty, 1 volume pedal, 1 wah, and then the axess and a tuner. I couldn't imagine going back to having a billion cables and a cluttered pedal board.
ummmmmmmm, because he doesnt want to? he doesnt like the sound? just guessing.
I've since watched a lot more of his stuff, and it seems he's very much into analog and constantly is swapping out different pedals and needs to be mobile without taking anything rack mount, so I now understand why he does it the way he does. He grabs an amp, a guitar, his board, and goes. I still think for his "at-home" rig it would make sense though. But there's a million ways to do it, and none of them are wrong.
Dot for the “O,” line for the “I.” Worth the watch for that alone.
why don't you just post a video of how to tie your shoes? SMH
