Thanks for watching!
The fact the 96 riff never gets featured in any top 10 best riffs of all time lists is criminal
I know Right!?
Probably top 5 modern rock
Because there are literally hundreds that are way better
you know, i'm not even that big of a fan of CKY, and I %100 agree with you
One of the best riffs of all time!!!
His unusual riffs combined with his almost synth-like tone is really specific to him.
He rights some incredible stuff. Most of them are rather troublesome to get right as well.
For those wondering, he uses an octave pedal
@@KuhKronus I actually came here for that! Now that I know, it’s kinda obvious. Thanks 👏
He used an oc-2 pedal. Common knowledge
@@aegisraven1284Common knowledge if you’re a die-hard CKY tech fan, yes.
Underrated guitarist
Reading this while hearing the verse of Escape from Hellview in the end...
Underrated indeed..
No he isn’t, not at all. This comment is fucking stupid
@@jeff7764 right
@@jeff7764 why
Dude there would be no cky without deron he makes the best riffs even listening to he’s songs acoustic!!
96QBB is the absolute greatest riff in history. My fav ever.
YES!
It's a very upbeat melody
Still remember the first time I heard that riff!
Crushes so hard
YES!
derons riffs are one of a kind
I wish he weren't such a fucking asshole lmao
Deron is probably the single greatest riffster of the modern era. All his riffs are memorable and fun to play and I can't imagine coming up with anything comparable myself.
@@k.g.alatore355 he seems like a really nice guy what's so bad about him
Take away his OC-2 and they are good riffs.
It’s almost as if he writes his riffs to be a song themselves rather than just a part in a song hard to explain. Very catchy it’s like his riffs are the choruses rather than the verses. Amazing writer.
How does he even come up with this stuff.. so good.
Its so good, i consider it as "part of my life"
Dude as I’m writing this your comment has 96 likes!!
It called being a good guitar player.
@@dominicvega9267 you can be good at playing guitar but not have the creativity to create good sounding riffs.
@@rastock9894 you can also be a really bad guitar player and have lots of riff creativity, it really depends.
Such an underrated guitarist
Truth. And singing on top of it. Fuck
I remember when i first heard of CKY. The night before my first celebrated 420. My uncle had a jacket of patches of bands that he passed down to me. He said hes seen all those bands live. CKY was one of them, along with Linkin Park, Green Day, SOAD. I watched the Familiar Realm video and my 13 yr old mind was blown away i never heard anything so sick. Thats what started my journey into wanting to play the guitar and sound like Deron. Wish he was still with the band, rip to a cool Uncle
That tone is signature D. Miller. So much love for the ninja. So humble and down to earth. He was blown away that I drove 3 hrs to see him play a dive in Hollywood.
There is no CKY without Deron. CKY forever
Deron Miller is kick ass. Also is it just me or does 96 Quite Bitter Beings sound fucking wicked slowed down
Cheers Deron! Always awesome to see this kinda stuff. Still some of the catchiest sweetest riffs I've ever heard man!
Legendary. Hella underrated. Both of these were a staple of my teens kept on repeat skating with the bros. Lol
15 years later and I still find myself coming back to these songs and riffs. Especially this time of year- some spooky Sci-Fi rock for Halloween.
Wish he was still in cky, was such a big fan of them growing up. I can't get into their new sound without him. I hope he continues making music and one day gets the recognition he deserves. Super underrated player, nobody sounds like him
Dudes riffs have always addictive to my ears. Such a cool and unique tone as well.
Love that tone.
Most original rock guitarist of all time!
Amazing riffs, such an underrated musician
Suddenly Tragic is missing, that is just as kick ass riff as 96 quite bitter beings! Absolutely love playing it
I am learning guitar and this is my first song. I found that all youtube video covers were completely different to the tab I was using. Then the man who is definitely in the know comes along and plays it exactly as it is written on the tab I'm using. What a relief. I'd have been really pissed off if I learnt my first song wrong. So if anyone needs this, it's like this on Songsterr if anyone needs the tab.
Learning either of these riffs as your FIRST song is gonna be an extremely hard task.
the 96 riff gave the the fucking chills. fucking much love
Holy crap! So technical and smooth! How you can create these riffs/sing on top/master your skills is so far beyond my comprehension! 👏 well done sir! I’ve been playing it wrong all along! Appreciate the slower down riffs to really see what’s going on! Hats off to your Deron! You’re a savage!
Came back for a brush up. and Guys at Esoterik, you couldn't have a more unique and awesome player holding your instruments than Derron.
Deron im miss u in CKY
The riff that built careers.
Amazing stuff! Thanks you rock
Underatted indeed..that sound is all him and it sets him apart from the typical guitar player, ive listened to everything hes put out and its never disappointing
The world NEEDS more Baritones thank you guys so much for making these! And with Deron to Demo it! I’m also impressed with the choice of the 59 over the Jazz Neck. Wish you guys the best in your search for a new manufacturing partner these guitars are killer!
Thanks Dan! Truly appreciated :)
Nothing like getting the riff from the guy in the band, thank you
how can he be as underrated as he is? As unique as you can be while not sacrificing bad-assness.
Calling people underrated is overrated
That tone is unlike anyone else.
96 quite bitter beings was one of the first riffs I learned.
Thanks for sponsoring Deron.. I love all his shit!
Amazing riffs, such a unique tone
Before deploying in 06 we went to JRTC, a final training. All I had was a CD player with a like 5 albums, but two were "Infiltrate Destry Rebuild" and "An Answer Can Be Found". I would listen on max volume while doing whatever on my cot, mostly cleaning the carbon from those damn blank rounds lol. Had a friend get into the band just hearing the riffs blaring from on ear headphones a few feet away.
Deron's a god damn genius, he's penned some epic riff's, you cannot help but get pumped when hearing "testing" - sk8life
The man, the myth,the legend
How tf he get younger?
I never would've considered an octaver sounding good until I listened to cky
Right i need to check out more of their songs
Damn I can hear the song in my head too lol. Great riffs and a great guitarist
Great , great , unusual riffage that should get more credit and notice than they do .. awesome sound !
Awesome! Love that song!
Deron is fricken awesome rock guitarist
A very Cool dude
Thank you Deron
Best riff ever
Deron I love your sound and style. Ever since I saw CKY2K like 18 years ago I've been a fan
Lil key key want some kitty meat wow
You guys got me into the sludgier stuff sick riffs man
96 bitter beings was the 3rd song I learned on my guitar
Black Christmas shirt OG asf
Super nice tone
Smooth like butter
Fucking amazing tone
currently saving up for a LK27. cannot wait to get a hold of one of these bad boys!
Right on man! \m/
You ever get the guitar?
@@buffalowick8003 No he died instead.
coolest riffs!!
Devon has an awesome voice!
Did you ever notice almost every one of his songs uses that bounce-around-the beat rhythm? So many of his best songs use that in some variation. That's (one of the reasons) why his riffs sound so good. He's mastered a very specific approach to riff writing.
Very proggy and left-of-center for sure. The icing on the cake is that sub octave effect, which really makes me want to get a Boss OC-5 as my next pedal and mess around with it on my guitar.
Nice vinyl collection
gotta love the pen drawing of his wife in the frame, hahaha
oooh so he uses an octaver pedal, I was wondering if they had another guitar tuned all the way down to drop B to do the riff
Would love to see Rio Bravo riff next
Damn that’s a lot of vinyl. Just my opinion. Was one ☝️ of my hero’s growing up. Thought Cky was the sabbath/ Metallica of my generation
Aaron Kamrat same
I want that tone. Now
Boss octave
Yuh! Cop a boss fx processor of any kind, theres always dope octave n delay stuff with distortion
OC-3 by Boss. Its the pedal for most of these types of sounds.
@@caiusmadison2996 Actually Deron uses a Boss OC-2. The Boss OC-3 was changed and is completely different from the OC-2
@@Darkhalo314 OC-3 has everything either previous models had and fuzz octave. It is literally the same as the others, with more in it. Not sure what you're saying other than Deron uses OC-2, because they are not different as far as producing the effect he is using. Literally can get it from any OC series pedal.
Rifs awesome but that tone is so freaking good.
Sounds so good. I love baritone guitars and I think they are underutilized
Deron Miller's da shizznit!!
I'm in love with all the lyrics from the album infiltrate destroy rebuild
seriously it's good stuff. can't wait to be able to hear songs from 96BB. I bet I will be mind blown.
\m/\m/ ♡☆♡☆
still... I'm serious blown away by them lyrics! whomever writes them, just WOW. good stuff.
Deron wrote everything. Thats why new CKY (Chad's bullshit) doesn't sound anything like old CKY.
Wall of records. So many hidden gems in there I bet.
That guitar looks so good,
Thanks man!
It makes my head and fingers hurt, riff master
Damn wouldn't it be sick if he were to re-record some of these classic songs on this fucking killer guitar sound.
96 on the record is tuned in Eb not D for anyone who is confused.
0:57 "Las Aventuras de Roberto Manfinfla"
It's D#, not D standard tuning. Right? Thank you for the sick tutorial Deron. You are a legend.
i really wish that jess did the same kinda thing clearing out the surface with the drum parts of cky songs. i have some songs that i really want to get down, yet i have some hard time figuring out which just by ear.
Not a particularly complex drummer. Shouldn't be that difficult
eLi FILMS he is pretty complex. Studio recordings don’t do him justice. Spot on drummer live
He looks like he's lost weight.
Deron is tremendous
You had to have had some of the hardest riffs back in the day
Can you tell us how you get that tone I've fucked around with with an oc2 and amp settings for ever and just can't get it
I always wonder what was his inspiration for these? Such unique riffs super creative guitarist
Does anybody have a clue what pedal he’s using? Sounds like a harmonizer. Such an iconic tone.
Octave pedal, if you can find a Boss OC-2, that is the classic CKY sound right there. The OC-3 is close, but if you want that cky guitar tone then track down a BOSS OC-2 Octave Pedal
the BEST
fk me, that tone sounds amazing
Clever riffing
Fucking love these riffs
It's gotta be like Bernadette Nerr.
i fucking died
Fuckin riffmaster and sings on top of that. Crazy.
nice
Fuckin awesome
Like the way 96 sounds slowed down
What is this clean tone ending riff called?
Cool
Hey Deron. Mend fences. We need CKY back...
Dude imagine not playing them riffs. But creating it!! God mode
Its the tone, the tone, the tone...how the fuck does is sound so delicous?

Tabs of how he plays it for anyone who wants them. I took particular attention to Darren stating people were making this more difficult than it really is, that walk down part in particular.
He’s good
