For normal citizens, the parent raising 5 children with comfort, big house, able to send them to good school, free education and healthcare, no tax, cheap oil.. able to gather with all family members every week is something not many people in other countries get..

"He has been on the throne since 1967, 76 years in power." I think a royal family member wrote this documentary. That's what you get when first cousins marry. 2025 - 1967 = 58
This whole part of the world was rich in gold before colonization. I’m glad that they held steadfast to keep their land in all its glory. As a southeast Asian who grew up in the West, I find the cultural differences a bit sensitive, but I respect them for keeping hold of their culture and religion.
Not actually hate...but it's a bit unfortunate that Brunei is more dependent on its oil money than developing its human resources. Look at Singapore (no oil, no natural resources)...but now it is a developed country in Asia and the world. Thanks to the development of education and human resources.
@@redbear9111unfortunate? It's fortunate. They have oil and they use it. Too bad for Singapore. You think if the virgin Mary and Joseph had a car apart from a donkey, would have used the donkey to escape to Egypt? I'm so happy for them. Haters gonna hate😂
@@saloneman3768 I compare Brunei with Singapore because both are rich and the countries are not too big and both are located in Southeast Asia... but the difference is that Brunei is rich because of oil alone while Singapore is rich because of its superior human resources which create superior innovation so that Singapore becomes rich. Why is this video just full of islamaphobic propaganda? Leave people to live like how they want to. For centuries they’ve lived this life why do you feel that your European way of life is better than theirs? What makes you better than them or anyone else for that matter
Not a very good documentary. Weak understanding of the religion and the country by the whole production team is borderline malicious and condescending.
Happens now in certain parts/within certain cultures. Many/most of the rest stopped when it became well established that it was anything but good, genetically 👍
No tax! No homosexuality! Free healthcare and Free Education..80% Natural Forest cover..A religious life keeping them away from vice!! 1:1 student teacher ratio. Geez, and you think your countries are better than this?!..Kudos to the Sultanate of Brunei..
This documentary is full of propaganda words. These people invited you to their homes, and you twisted everything they said and believed. The people seem happy, and that's what matters.
I went to brunei once what an interesting country i shall say. For instance the value of thekr currency is the same as SGD (Singaporean dollar). And when i was there i was quite show to see that despite the fact that this country is rich in oil their capital city still looks somehow "traditional" i had to take bus from the airport. No airport train like in Singapore. Also the public transportation is abit lacking. Mostly mini bus van.
How do you become a moral judge for what they do? Respect their culture and traditions even if you disagree with them. They also have things to say about western culture that they believe is nonsense.
It’s disgusting to think that they are billionaires because they are so corrupt. They should be sharing every cent to their fellowmen. They don’t own their country and all its natural resources. So we. should stop talking about how rich THEY are.
I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary but I think that 1st cousins marrying is genetic disaster. The brides uncle ( her father's brother) will now become her father in law. The chances of having a healthy baby are very slim. Plus their ages are against them too There's a law against this practice in UK and for very good reason too.
And you think your own laws in the UK are better and healthy? The amount of crime in your country can’t be compared to what they’ve. Respect their culture and traditions!
Im just curious... If they kept this custom of marrying close relatives for decades... What will their children look like?? I believe scientifically there will be a physical or mental disability when they give birth to their offspring...
surely the oil wealth of brunei belongs to all tribal people even if not muslim. as the sultan has all the oil income how can it be said the money comes from his personal wealth. its not brunei girls who go over to maylasia but the males to party.
To coerce ppl to covert by depriving them is exactly what I expect from the bolkiah pos lol if I heard that he generously takes care of everyone regardless of religion I’d be shocked lol

Nonsense.Until the British came and then they found some oil,Brunei sultan was living like a rat about 150-200 yrs ago.Go check the history books.Brunei sultan barely had shoes to wear .Brunei was a mosquito infested swamp with people living on sticks and mud shacks on top of water.Only got rich after British discovered oil last century.
The general population seems happy and contented. Plus, Brunei manages to preserve their natural beauty especially the rainforest. The Sultan ensures that the population is well taken care off. No income taxes, free education and healthcare, subsidized housing and very low crime rate. The people are also free to travel overseas, and Brunei is one of the two Muslim countries that can enter US visa free. This documentary tried to paint Brunei as an Islamic Fundamentalist country hell bent to control every aspect of their citizens but what I see is just humble, friendly and contented people living to the fullest. However, one glaring issue that needs to be rectified is the Non-Muslim Penan People. If it was true like this video shows, Brunei government need to at least uplift their deplorable condition to the better. Islam commands us to be fair and just to all people regardless of their background.
Did he say you were not living peacefully? Just that if everyone lived your "muslim way of life" reciting quran all day long in arabic, there would be no electricity, no modern medicine ,no oil and gas wealth ,no modern schools, not much food, no golden mosques and palaces.

Stop jealous 😭
Not a very good documentary. Weak understanding of the religion and the country by the whole production team is borderline malicious and condescending.
I feel for the man who was cut short by his statement that they can't force him to convert. He seems scared by the way his expression changes.
If not for oil, they have nothing.
Marrying 1st cousin? Really?
Yes, gotta keep the wealth within the bloodline.
Not uncommon, happens in most parts of the world

The people are happy, disciplined, religious and safe. Why does it hurt the eyes of some westerners?? Go deal with your own society's problems
they will only be satisfied when all these people follow their so called "civillization"
It is just jealousy.
Exactly
Half of the population prolly working in that palace alone

Look how Prince Andrew turned out
And you think your own laws in the UK are better and healthy? The amount of crime in your country can’t be compared to what they’ve. Respect their culture and traditions!
It's very common in the UK .
There’s no law in the UK against that why you BSing
Wow! I love this country, i wish one day visit, please Allah bless me.
Love from sierra leone.
Waw 450,000 people all that oil could have enriched the people 😢
The people there no need to pay income tax and healthcare and education are free
Forget about marrying her first cousin, but I saw a Jollibee restaurant at 33:34.
Speechless.
First cousin 😮
Im just curious... If they kept this custom of marrying close relatives for decades... What will their children look like?? I believe scientifically there will be a physical or mental disability when they give birth to their offspring...
Been doing it for thousands of years .
Yes, the richest. Even banks do not need security guards
0:44 Muslims don't consider non muslims, human being at all and this happening all around the world 😢😢
Despite being rich and all that stuff, marrying cousins is just messed up. Time to keep up with the times
What makes you think you’re a moral judge to these people?
I never knew all these about Brunei, l absolutely respect their culture and way of life even more 👏

Long live Sultanate of Brunei from the Philippines 🇵🇭🇧🇳
The secret world of royal corruption 😀👍
Ehhh... hahaha
You are just jealous. Disease in your heart .These brunei are having a good life.
Bruneians don't even pay income tax, VAT, got paid to study in university, subsidised healthcare etc
peole of burnei are richer then many european countries
why the name Benard Chandran not mentioned
1967 is 57 not 76
Hypocrisy at it's finest. So those that don't "convert" are left to live in squalor. How do you say you believe something you clearly don't?
You mean I can marry my first cousin there!!!!
If there is no value for oil.
This country would no longer exist
if, sounds like jealousy, and they invest their money
Yes it would .
The prayer lasting an hour?!
Was looking at the map (2.03) into the video. The map shows Malaysia Miri, how come Miri?
Yes
Should say sarawak or sabah or borneo but city of miri
May the people of Brunei find the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

Im sure he does lots for tourism like our royal MOB in the uk

Yeah, beautiful life ,all based on western modern science and wealth through oil and gas,not by reciting quran 8 hrs a day in arabic.
