I definitely think getting some brown hair ties/shoelaces and sleeving the tubes in that or some other cloth would've given it more of the look I think you were going for but this looks fantastic nonetheless. This look gives me the feel of a junker mobile suit that perhaps a poor town would use for defense and when being serviced would get tagged with graffiti and used for murals by artists.
ayden8p26 it looks like it was made from three or four different mobile suits. I imagine it would have been used late in the one year war after Zeon abandoned their Siege of Earth. It was pieced together like Frankenstein. I feel like that would explain the inconsistencies in the camouflage.
Anonymous Li I wasn't really trying to have the aesthetic make sense in a canonical way. I was just stating the mental picture I get when I look at it.
All the little extra detail work really makes it stand out and works well with this scale. Color and pipe coverings do lend it to desert combat or somewhere it needs protective gear. As the pipe coverings go, Henry I think has a video on making some excellent looking thunderbolt type covers if you plan on doing that type of look again. I speak from some experience that it's easier to use heat shrink wrap and getting the putty just right. Great work and hope your friend enjoys it!
probably great if the kit ends up being an iconic display piece for the cafe & also being spread through media such as blogs, news, & even a documentary when visiting the cafe.
Really great work, it's apparent that this was a labor of love. The weathering is great, I think you are a bit too hard on yourself in that regard. The mods are all really interesting, I love the v fin and the cloth cable covers, I especially enjoy how the head profile was changed by your mods. The waist shortening coupled with the thicker cables really improves the proportion of the model, I like my zakus chubby! Oh last thing that shield mural looks so great coupled with the drab colors! The contrast is really striking, reminds me of colorful graffiti on a rusted old worn train car. Thanks for sharing, and I truly envy your friend!
Been watching your videos for a few months now and just subscribed. Got a lot of great tips and advice, thanks. About this kit, the only thing I didn’t like was the putty overlay on the tubing. Still looks like putty. Other then that I love how it turned out. I have an influx of hg zakus coming in soon and I’m looking forward to implementing some of your techniques with them.
Looks fantastic, Zach! And don't worry about the weathering, the chipping is spot-on, especially on the desert coloured areas. Go out and look at rusty old yellow construction vehicles - you got that look just right :)
If anything, I would say what you have done is awesome, but it might benefit from further complimentary weathering i.e. you have created the damage that daily use causes, but adding more of the dirt, grime and streaking that goes hand in hand with that damage would serve to enhance the effect even more. That's not to detract from what you have done though, it looks kick-ass and I quite like the clean-yet-used look :)
Is your friends cafe in Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto? I will go visit when I am over there soon! I am a coffee nut so always looking for more cafes to check out.
Great work! Never thought poop but if you still wanna fix that just very lightly touch it with a mesh piece that has wet paint so that you can add texture. Best thing would have been wrap it in actual cloth for a few minutes while it cures. 10/10 love the custom fin too btw
My first thought early on in the vid, when looking at it from a bit further back - the paintjob, mixed with those heavy panel lines gives it an almost Cel Shaded look! Kinda like a toned down Borderlands 🤔 It looks awesome though man, great job!
If you loved a kit enough that you would always want it on your shelf/desk and pose it in different ways from time to time, would you paint-up and decal said kit? How well does painting and decals handle the 'abuse' of being handled (even if you are very careful) in the long run?
I wouldn't really advise it. If you wanna mess with it a lot I'd recommend getting a Robot Damashi and maybe doing a little detail painting and decals on that. lacquer paint is pretty strong, but it doesn't take much to scratch it off as it's just too thin on the plastic.
Sigh, I was afraid of that... Made my first Ver Ka a few months back; the Sazabi. Just love this kit to pieces and keep fiddling with it. Good thing i didn't try to do too much to it. Thank you! :)
I wanna see this on a generic zaku pose tbh. There are some details that gets lost plus the dynamic pose would make it even more cool. But as always, great overall job on customizing this, zack~!
Looks really cool! I like all of the detail and little parts to make it look more realistic. I'm curious to know where you got some of those tiny detail parts.
Hey man, looks great! Didn't realize you hand painted the shoulder piece until now, came out amazing! Laughing so hard right now about the poop thing xD
Haha, yep! You let the cat out of the bag. I mean, if you're really conscious about it, I think you could add some clamp things to the ends, but I think it's fine!
QUESTION! how would you recommend painting the gold emblems on the sinanju ver ka? Small paint pen? Micro brush and Tamiya paint? I don't have a spray booth and that 2 layer technique frightens me
Wow! You have done an amazing job. I had plans to step up my Gunpla after only assembling 3 HG kits to do an MG White Doll paint and customization and an RG Zaku II paint and customization but after seeing this I think I will hold off on the MG White Doll and retool the RG idea into a Mega like this. This just has so much more potential and possibility to be a much greater showpiece. I'm only concerned about how beautiful you made this piece of art and you're giving it to your best friend who doesn't even like Gundam or Gunpla. I really hope he liked this gift you made him and took good care of it. Also, where can I find that film you used for the eye and scope?
Looks dang awesome! I like the weathering very much. Impressive work! By the way, do you live in korea? I noticed the colorful slides with the sand ground and the apartment on the background.
One question though, why is there still green? I mean torso and waist? No offense but I kinda confuse when you said that the arm is supposed to be a replace but I'm getting the highlight more on torso and waist, is that make sense? Anyway, great job!

Damn! This will look good on a Die-o-Rama.
Justine N more like a DIO RAMA
Fantastic build. You can hear your enthusiasm for it.
i love what you did for the pipes, reminds me of the joints on labors in patlabor
the tubing looks so cool!
It's so good that it looks like this zaku can tell it's own story, LOVED IT!
THE STARS HAVE ALIGNED

That desert zaku turned out wonderful
So much work! The legs look superb.

this looks great bro you can tell you took your time your friends going to be very happy
probably great if the kit ends up being an iconic display piece for the cafe & also being spread through media such as blogs, news, & even a documentary when visiting the cafe.
Zach all ur completed builds are eye candy for me! Ur owsem dood
I've sanded the facets off of plastic jewles and polished them, mask the shinny part on the back, old CD player lenses work too.
Hard work payed off, man. Looks great.
Amazing job as always ZakuAurelius... I love it
Nice modifications and awesome weathering. The hoses look like they've been wrapped in this canvas-like material that got muddy, no worries there ;)
Looks nice. Impressive hand painting on ur friends theme on the shield.

Astronopolis thanks for that man! I see we're like-minded!
Oh my God, it looks so good! I almost wish you were keeping it since your name is Zakuaurelius
That design at the shield is awesome mate...i really like it haha..u got some great talent there
Really nice work Zak! I especially like the backpack, it came out really nice!

This is your best build that I've seen. Love it man.
THAT PATTERN ON THE SHIELD IS ACTUALLY LIKE DOPE AF GODDAMN
Max Kordon thanks!
Looks awesome! I wish one day i could do weathering...
That zaku is amazing!

Modelmaking Guru thanks! I agree, some more "layers" in the weathering probably would have helped sell it even more! Something to try next time!
Superb job. it looks awesome!
I did actually think the tubing looks cool until you mention 'poop'. Now I can't unsee it.
wow that looks amazing
Another awesome build, dude.
Amazing work as always love the final version
Definitely worth the wait. This thing came out amazing! Good job man!
Is your friends cafe in Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto? I will go visit when I am over there soon! I am a coffee nut so always looking for more cafes to check out.
Osaka! Send me a message on Facebook if you wanna go there I can give you the info

I got the address and its on my list to visit!! Even looking at the photos online made me start to drool :D
Brendan Dougherty yeah hitomi is an Amazing chef. Amazing food there seriously!
Great work! Never thought poop but if you still wanna fix that just very lightly touch it with a mesh piece that has wet paint so that you can add texture.
Best thing would have been wrap it in actual cloth for a few minutes while it cures.
10/10 love the custom fin too btw
chapa435ify ah spraying through mesh is a great idea! Won't mess with this one anymore but I'll keep that in mind!
"GUNPLA IS FREEDOM."
Nothing makes me happier than a good ol' custom.
I just got a mega size zaku and I'm terrified about working on it. Hopefully it comes out well
Looks great man. The weathering and edge wear look well done to me.
beautiful zack, well done!
My first thought early on in the vid, when looking at it from a bit further back - the paintjob, mixed with those heavy panel lines gives it an almost Cel Shaded look! Kinda like a toned down Borderlands 🤔
It looks awesome though man, great job!
Nice modification n painting 😄
DUDE! very nice work. two thumbs up, heck throw some toes up in there too lol
Wow! its finished...nice work zak... it looks amazing... im planning to buy this one on online for only 58$.
Amazing!?!?! Please do a tutorial on how you did this type of weathering it looks great!
If you loved a kit enough that you would always want it on your shelf/desk and pose it in different ways from time to time, would you paint-up and decal said kit? How well does painting and decals handle the 'abuse' of being handled (even if you are very careful) in the long run?

awesome bro your weathering is cool too
Holy crap this looks good! Makes me want to do something like this to an origins zaku 2
I wanna see this on a generic zaku pose tbh. There are some details that gets lost plus the dynamic pose would make it even more cool.
But as always, great overall job on customizing this, zack~!
Kaoru Pangilan dynamic posing isn't exactly the strong point of MegaSize kits! Lol
Looks really cool! I like all of the detail and little parts to make it look more realistic. I'm curious to know where you got some of those tiny detail parts.
most are Koto MSG option parts or just leftover parts from other kits.
I realy like the pipe replacement
I love it...Your zaku is a C3PO version of the Force Awaken movie.
love the aurora film on the scope result . is it from HIq parts?
Fantastically amazing.
Thanks!
Looks freaking amazing, awesome work!
Tubes look great, like weather beaten canvas.
I like the mega size zaku default paint job and custom ones
Awesome job, Maybe I ask what the song you used at the end portion of the video?
Hey man, looks great! Didn't realize you hand painted the shoulder piece until now, came out amazing! Laughing so hard right now about the poop thing xD
yeah, seems like if I hadn't had mentioned it no one really would have noticed! oh well!
Haha, yep! You let the cat out of the bag. I mean, if you're really conscious about it, I think you could add some clamp things to the ends, but I think it's fine!
finally you've done it :)
This came out really great!
Finally man this is great looking Zaku that tube cover tho
Came out really good
What airbrush do you use and what paints do you use.
Thats amazing!
He really turned out amazing!!! Great job Zack :)
Really like the that whole replaced and unpainted new arm
Great camera work at the end btw.
TURD BELT!
Man, you really should't have pointed that out, now I can't un-see it.
Uau Show belo trabalho
So fucking awesome man. I thought the tubes were real cloth at first.
QUESTION! how would you recommend painting the gold emblems on the sinanju ver ka? Small paint pen? Micro brush and Tamiya paint? I don't have a spray booth and that 2 layer technique frightens me
small brush and enamel paint.
Awesome 👍🏽
Field repaired Zaku, I dig it.
It's just amazing!
Great Job man I love it!
ZakuAurelius Do you remember what color you used for the body? It looks like an OD Green variation.
Awesome build. Love the tiny custom details added on. I say the weathering is on point. Why did you have to say poop? 😂
I really think you're developing a 'voice' if that makes sense, in terms of the way you use detail and your color choices. Keep up the great work!
I feel like I'm feeling comfortable in a certain style that I like, yeah!
that, looks, awesome!
looks amazing dude
Wow dude..you're a rembrand of gunpla
Love your work, only the eye looks strange, love pink/red more.
Looks dang awesome! I like the weathering very much. Impressive work!
By the way, do you live in korea? I noticed the colorful slides with the sand ground and the apartment on the background.
I do live in Korea! ^^ Thanks
Really wish I had the patience and talent to do something like this to my mega size
This is beautiful!
Great Job!!!
One question though, why is there still green? I mean torso and waist? No offense but I kinda confuse when you said that the arm is supposed to be a replace but I'm getting the highlight more on torso and waist, is that make sense?
Anyway, great job!
