How can I program the transmitter I try to adjust the rates like betaflight says from 1,000 to 2000 and I can't even with the spectrum app I wasn't able to please help
Not currently, but there will be an update available in the coming weeks that adds a new profile you can download and select in the DXS that will make it work with the flaps, retracts and SAFE Select! It will be posted under the "MANUALS & SUPPORT" button/link on the DXS product page here: www.horizonhobby.com/product/dxs-transmitter-only/SPMR1010.html And if you haven't already, be sure to subscribe to the Spektrum RC channel (a video regarding this update will also be posted in the coming weeks): ua-cam.com/users/SpektrumRC
Is this setup using the airplane profile 1? The first green dot led when going through the setup, with no further tweaking? My concern is if its not then it will be hard to set up.
Quick question . if I already have a DXS controller can I bind to other BNF models ? For example I got the habu and aeroscout rtf version . if I bought this plane in a BNF will it work with any of my DXS controllers ?
Awesome description and footage Jason! Thanks a lot for keeping us updated on these models!! On a side note: Do you happen to know if Horizon Hobby will be integrating remote ID in the future?
Thank you! Also, we are working on it...please see more remote ID related info in our recent post here: www.horizonhobby.com/blog-faa-id.html?Spot3&AIR
@@HorizonHobbyProducts Many planes are now being updated with the Spektrum AR631.Will the 1.2m include that and will it be 4s capable in addition to 3s like most of the other 1.2m warbirds? What other kind of updates are to be implemented?
You can reprogram the receivers/control units in UMX models to turn AS3X off using this programming interface cable: ua-cam.com/video/crE_O7JVHjk/v-deo.html And by following the instructions and downloading the software seen/linked here: www.horizonhobby.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-horizon-master/default/dw45ff974f/Manuals/AS3X-Programmer-file-7-27-12.pdf However, we do not recommend this. AS3X is most helpful for smaller and lighter models. Without it, most UMX models are difficult to impossible to fly in windy conditions. Also, when you move the stick, you are in control....AS3X does not "get in the way" or "fight" you in any way. It simply helps to smooth things out when you are not touching the primary flight controls. Also, in the case of this video: Switch Position 0 = SAFE Select ON; Switch Position 1 = SAFE Select OFF/AS3X only ON; Switch Position 2 = SAFE Select OFF/AS3X only ON; Switch positions 1 and 2 are the same. However, you can use a more advanced Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitter to set Position 2 as SAFE Select OFF and AS3X OFF (but we also don't recommend this).
This does not affect most models, but if you remove the cowl you can see on your particular model. If the wires are touching the bell you can move/re-route the wires so they don't Or, if the motor mounting screws are touching the wire leads, you can add washers between the screw heads and motor mount and/or cut the screws shorter. Pretty quick and simple fixes if your model is affected (but again, most models are not affected!).
Got my motor wires burned out today...mid air motor stoped and plane crushed..It will fly again after few repairs and new motor install but those wires are totally on wrong place from stock...
Yes! But it's much better to spend $30 more for the BNF Basic version T-28 that comes with the AR631 receiver (which is an $85 value) equipped with AS3X/SAFE Select technologies. You can even turn AS3X/SAFE Select off entirely if you prefer to fly without them (which would be just like flying it with an AR410): www.horizonhobby.com/search?q=T-28+1.1m&search-button=&lang=default
@@HorizonHobbyProducts Hello, thank you for the answer ;-). I already have the BNF Basic T-28 version. The reason why I want the AR410 is, because I got dangerous connection problems in the last flight. The inputs from the transmitter (DXE) reached the Plane very late wich almost caused a crash. I m not sure what the problem was, but I would still prefer buying the DXS with the AR410 to avoid this.
@@tedchen0025 The DXS will work better with the AR631 that's already installed in your T-28, plus the 631 performs better than the 410 due to the external antenna, so just swapping the transmitter will help :)
The T-28 Trojan 1.1m model is intended to be a lower cost, more durable and simpler alternative to our (also very popular!) T-28 Trojan 1.2m model (www.horizonhobby.com/product/t-28-trojan-1.2m-bnf-basic-with-as3x/EFL8350.html). That in mind it does not have retractable landing gear or flaps (the 1.2m model does), and is considered to be more of a "sport" scale model (the 1.2m model has more scale details). This makes it the perfect “next step” after a trainer, first scale or low-wing model! But it's also been updated and upgraded to offer improved scale-like and sport flying, higher speed and higher energy aerobatic capabilities for more experienced pilots, which makes it the perfect no hassles, every day sport flyer for them too!
Don't let him fool you. You can't not just bind and fly. Right out of the box this transmitter needs an update. My turbo timbers flaps would not turn off unless I hit the bind button. Got it programmed and now I don't have elevators. The hobby shop I bought it from a week ago won't refund me my money. It was a total waste of money.
You are incorrect. The DXS binds directly to this model with zero updates because it does not have flaps. If a model has flaps, it will require a different profile be used in the DXS. Most DXS transmitters now come with this different profile pre-loaded, but some older stock will need to be updated. You can contact our Product Support staff for help in getting your transmitter updated with the correct profile to use with the Turbo Timber.

@@danielkral9181 The HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 is an upgrade over the Champ! It has 4-channel control, plus SAFE technology. The RTF version includes everything you need (and you can use your DX5e instead of the stock transmitter), or the BNF Basic version will bind to the DX5e (but you'll also need a battery and charger): www.horizonhobby.com/search?q=Sport+Cub+S+2&search-button=&lang=default
It mostly depends on your flying style. When flying aggressively with lots of full power and aerobatics, 5-8 minutes will be typical for some. However, with less aggressive flying and more low speed cruising, flight times can be upwards of 10-15+ minutes with 3S 2200mAh or 4S 2200mAh batteries!
No it does not. Currently the only models compatible with the Spektrum GPS module ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/gps-module/SPMA3173.html ) are the E-flite Apprentice STS 1.5m and the HobbyZone Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m.

This is hands down my favorite flyer right now.
Well presented Jason.
I have not had this model before & i was going to buy the 1.2m model but many reviews said the front gear was weak. Now i have this i am so glad i waited. One huge selling point you did not cover was the fact that this model also has the two locking pins on the forward hatch vs the old magnet, so it is more secure. It flies so well in high wind as i had today here in Victoria.
Many thanks indeed

The videos look amazing at this high resolution.
Great video, as always Jason! Already ordered! Looking forward to it! Cheers from Switzerland!
Alright, I give in! I need one of these to go along with my original PZ T-28 lol
Great video Jason! Love this bird!
Now I can't wait to fly it! Just have to get it first.
Love the videos Jason and cannot wait until mine arrives.
Great looking plane and flying. Well done HH&JM! The choice of battery retention is interesting. On one hand it makes using a 22003s/4s quick and easy. On the other hand it removes options for other battery sizes (bigger or smaller) without cutting/mods (which are easy enough to do). The 1.2m will be back and better than ever late this year ;)
@@HorizonHobbyProducts Many planes are now being updated with the Spektrum AR631.Will the 1.2m include that and will it be 4s capable in addition to 3s like most of the other 1.2m warbirds? What other kind of updates are to be implemented?
In the beginning, you mentioned that you can turn AS3X off, can you do that with other E-flite planes, like the UMX Mig-15?
You can reprogram the receivers/control units in UMX models to turn AS3X off using this programming interface cable: ua-cam.com/video/crE_O7JVHjk/v-deo.html
And by following the instructions and downloading the software seen/linked here: www.horizonhobby.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-horizon-master/default/dw45ff974f/Manuals/AS3X-Programmer-file-7-27-12.pdf
However, we do not recommend this.
Also, in the case of this video: Switch Position 0 = SAFE Select ON; Switch Position 1 = SAFE Select OFF/AS3X only ON; Switch Position 2 = SAFE Select OFF/AS3X only ON;
Switch positions 1 and 2 are the same. However, you can use a more advanced Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitter to set Position 2 as SAFE Select OFF and AS3X OFF (but we also don't recommend this).
I heard that the motor wires can rub against the bell and short out burning up the motor. Love this T-28! Any advice?
This does not affect most models, but if you remove the cowl you can see on your particular model. If the wires are touching the bell you can move/re-route the wires so they don't Or, if the motor mounting screws are touching the wire leads, you can add washers between the screw heads and motor mount and/or cut the screws shorter. Pretty quick and simple fixes if your model is affected (but again, most models are not affected!).
Got my motor wires burned out today...mid air motor stoped and plane crushed..It will fly again after few repairs and new motor install but those wires are totally on wrong place from stock...
Does this come with a remote?
Q: where is this field located ?
This was filmed at a large park near Route 95 and West Lake Mead Blvd in Las Vegas, NV
Can I use the DXS with the AR410 to fly the Trojan?
Does the gear retract? can they go up and down?
no
@@calvinstevickbrown8171 That's what I thought. Thank you!
The chuckle says it all...lol
How does this plane compare to the Clipped Wing Cub?
Somewhat similar aerobatic capabilities, but the T-28 can fly and land slower and is also a bit easier to fly overall!
@@HorizonHobbyProducts , and yet, I still want both ;)
@@danb7207 We only have a very limited supply of the E-flite Clipped Wing Cub 1.2m BNF Basic ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/clipped-wing-cub-1.2m-bnf-basic-with-as3x-and-safe-select/EFL5150.html ) left in stock now, and when they're sold out in the next few weeks, we won't be offering this model any longer due to lower than expected sales :( We will still have spare parts for it available for the new few years though, so if you'd like to get one, now is the time!
@@HorizonHobbyProducts thanks for the heads up
LOL U said it's Booken ,,,,Haven't heard that expressing since it was used 20 yrs back hahaha WOW almost a real hover,,,,,,,,,,,,
Can i bind a Duet rtf with a dx5e from Spektrum
Unfortunately you cannot. The Duet is not Spektrum compatible.
@@HorizonHobbyProducts and the champ rtf?
@@danielkral9181 The Champ will work with the DX5e (but both the Champ and DX5e are discontinued items now)!
@@HorizonHobbyProducts oh i Got the dx5e at Home, but just a heli and no plane.
Can you give me an alternative to the champ
@@danielkral9181 The HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 is an upgrade over the Champ! It has 4-channel control, plus SAFE technology. The RTF version includes everything you need (and you can use your DX5e instead of the stock transmitter), or the BNF Basic version will bind to the DX5e (but you'll also need a battery and charger): www.horizonhobby.com/search?q=Sport+Cub+S+2&search-button=&lang=default
did he say only 5 to 10 minute flight time?
It mostly depends on your flying style. When flying aggressively with lots of full power and aerobatics, 5-8 minutes will be typical for some. However, with less aggressive flying and more low speed cruising, flight times can be upwards of 10-15+ minutes with 3S 2200mAh or 4S 2200mAh batteries!
When is the Release Date???
Late this month or early next month, and you can place a pre-order now!
@@HorizonHobbyProducts Thank You Jason
Will this Trojan accept the gps?
No it does not. Currently the only models compatible with the Spektrum GPS module ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/gps-module/SPMA3173.html ) are the E-flite Apprentice STS 1.5m and the HobbyZone Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m.
I don’t need it but I ordered it anyway 😎😎
Stupid question are you in az?
Would this make a good park flier on 3s?
