Never seen anybody do more good work and produce such well detailed and entertaining car videos with as little in terms of set up as Greg. I'd love to see him with a shop like Tom's Turbo has.
@@HMLuts why not, I think it'd be great price/performance comparison. It shouldn't be about winning rather than what you can get for time and effort invested in a build. Even Rudnik's sr miata would be a nice add-on to the party.

I like how you don’t use more specialised tools to make it more relatable for the average person but sometimes you don’t half make it difficult for yourself 😂 good stuff though man, don’t ever change :-)
I've been speaking to David over at kmiata and about to buy the 6 speed kit. I just want to thank you for the time you take to produce these videos and the level of clarity, mixed with personality makes them so easy to watch. My wallet hates you. My car loves you 😄
Oh boy that was a steep learning curve, but who better to do it than CPC! Don’t fret about the speedo, I did a lotus 6-speed swap in my Yaris and I have no speedo either
I just installed a new clutch on my Miata yesterday and it took me an hour just to fit the transmission back on right. So seeing him just slap it on first try and celebration is relatable
thank you Greg for never giving up on this project, even though i didn't do any work besides watching the videos, its made me feel accomplished and proud lol congrats man
Love the videos. Been watching since the beginning and I don’t even own a Miata. I’m a ford man with a mustang. Your work is awesome and that’s why I watch.
Thanks man! Since you're a Mustang owner that watches my videos, just know that all my 'hating' on Mustangs is pure satire, I actually think they're really cool.
When my grand Cherokee died my mechanic sold me as a gap filler before I got a new car, a 2002 mx5 mk2 1.6 with 50k on the clock. One lady owner. I got two speeding tickets in the first month trying to keep it under 30mph. New clutch, new brakes but my mechanic won’t let me sup it up as apparently I’ll kill myself. I couldn’t work out why I needed rear tyres so soon until I realised I’d wheel spun everyday. I keep meaning to sell it but at 57 my daughters all grown up I just can’t bring myself to let it go 😂. I watch you great videos, as a sculptor I’m very practical and follow each step you do so could do the conversions but the image of James Dean’s Porsche haunts me.
Thank you for all your post. I know it’s difficult to film and edit all this for us watching. I truly enjoy your videos because you take the time to point out in detail things/trouble to look out for. I also like that you admit that things don’t always go as planned. I’ve been watching your vids for a while now because I too am a Miata enthusiast. This is a kit that I’ve seriously considered for one of my Miatas, along with engine conversions. My 99 is supercharged and we got it 255 HP to the wheels, and so far no trans issues. However, it the trans does let go, then this will be the next mod on that car. Again, thanks a lot!
Your videos make me so sad that I sold my Miata. It was stock, and I didn’t have the money to do projects like this, but I loved working on it. I need another one; hopefully next Spring
So much win with this video. Think I'll need to put it on repeat and start learning the process since I'm already running 19psi with my efr and will probably blow the 6speed pretty soon.
Bro, I really enjoy your videos even though I don’t have a Miata (maybe one day). I think it’s time for you to go to Harbor Freight and buy a Transmission Jack.
I remember doing exactly the cardboard slide, then human body lift then the floorjack when installing an automatic transmission in one of my domestic cars. I felt several Zen moments working by myself.
Oh boy so excited clicked like whilst the advertisement was playing and now commenting before the first minute is up , always exciting stuff when you get to upload
Greg I have blazed the trail you have been walking and I HIGHLY recommend the solid transmission bolt mounts. Mine snapped in two and made it almost impossible to shift. I also slipping that damn BMW clutch and already have the act clutch in my room. Please keep an eye on the mounts. David is still amazed I was able to break the mounts but I'm sure you will too. Also no hate to you but I wish I had known sooner that the clutch sucks haha! Keep up the good work man!
He also had to buy the act clutch because the other one slips, he said it somewhere, I don't remember if it was in an older video or if it was on snap or insta.
Now this is a great quality video! Makes me want to get Miata to do the swap. I'm joking, I have two Imprezas so I have plenty of wrenching to do )))) Still can't understand how you manage to produce such high quality content and run super informative web site still having full time job and doing everything yourself. It took me almost three years to to put my track car back together after engine-out service and it still not running. And I don't bother to document it in any way not saying to produce such high quality videos.. Respect!
Fantastic video!!! Been a long term follower of the channel and It has helped me with tonns of jobs on my turbo miata!!! Please keep the content coming!!!
Greg this was very entertaining to watch, you should do videos like this more often, it felt like you were defusing a bomb when you were lining up the pressure plate, nice job
If the BMW trans is electronic, theres a company that makes electronic to mechanical drive kits dont know if it will work for you but the company is called "Abbot" and the product is called "Cable X" Put one in a t56 swap in a c3 Vette with mechanical speedo.
I remember building my F5 Cobra on Jack stands! 😮 so sketchy! Never again and it make me cringe watching you do it. But once again, another great how to vid but that what we’ve come to expect from your channel. Thanks Greg!✌🏼
Very cool! I immediately started scheming on putting a BMW transmission in my Miata, but then realized I'm going to have 180 HP crank naturally aspirated horsepower AT BEST so this is probably overkill for me LOL. IT'S A SICKNESS! EDIT 33:20 oh god bleed your brake fluid XD
Getting ready to pull the trigger on one of these kits. Did they ever fix the issue with the speedo? Also, my car is a right hand drive Japanese import. I guess the clutch line will be different... By the way you should consider a patron account. I'd happily send some beer money to thank you for all the valuable advice and how to's you've made for the community.
btw, you can reset that pressure plate with a piece of threaded rod, some big washers, a screw driver and some zipties...save the center piece and throw it in the tool box. Or you can spend several hundred on a BMW tool to do it too.
Appreciate the video. When I watched this initial I never thought I would buy a k kit.. But my ecotec swap is now looking like a k20 with the getrag. Appreciate the heads up on the stock clutch. Is there a kmiata discount code to get you cred??
having done a bmw clutch, ive had no issues taking a pressure plate off after the plate was removed from the center and putting it back on. over 5k on the car since the clutch change and no noticeable issues. id avoid it if possible, but i wouldn't buy another clutch kit if you for some reason have to take it off after the initial pressure plate install for anyone attempting this
You can reuse the press plate on a self a adjusting clutch use a press it should hear 3 load clicks then its resets but need too put 3 drill bits where the teeth are must be in a triangle shape but don't release the press yet . You'll need too cut the drill bits so they drop out
