Kiyoka(Kudou) just walked in their house and asked for respect toward Miyo, while Kouji just couldn't stand up for her when Kaya was talking trash. He's supportive but couldn't be helpful, that makes big difference...not his fault at all though.😢 I really like it when the same lines as they first met come out again while everything's changed. At first it was Kiyoka that said that "if I want you to die you die", but he just want her to smile now🥺 "How long are you going to bow like this?" has changed from "That's weird. Why are you doing this?" to "You would be safe around me so please don't." So cute🥺❤
Rusty: It's so cute. He is such a gentleman in how he cares for her and protects her. They've become so close that they can essentially joke about their first words to each other. Kouji is such a sweet boy, but he wouldn't be able to stand up for her and protect her the same way.

On the other hand i feel bad for her as she is conditioned by her mother especially (as Miyo is a reminder to Miyos biological mother who - in her eyes- took the father from her when the father was forced to marry Miyos mother) and her father to look down on Miyo because she has no supernatural powers. So how should she be any other when she is told since the age of three that her sister is worthless and she is praised for everything she does?

The translator used "Give an earnest apology, face to face." It's close, but its meaning could be hard to understand because of the culture gap. In Japanese, there are so many terms and so many different levels of "apology". "AYAMARU (謝る)" is the general term of "apologize", when Kiyoka asked Miyo not to apologize, he used this word. On the other hand, when Kiyoka asked her parents to "apologize", he asked them to "SHAZAI (謝罪)". "ZAI (罪)" means "guilt" or even "sin", that's a strong word. It's more than just apologizing, it's FORMAL and serious apology in Japanese, meaning "formally admitting my own guiltiness and asking for forgiveness". Depends on context, the seriousness could be different, but it's formal anyway. When people "shazai", they often do deep bow or even "dogeza (土下座)", kneeling down and bowing to the ground, to show sincerity. I like how optimistic and kind you are, Rusty. 3-4 episodes and you still wanted to believe the father is a good person. Anyway, do you think this family will have any kind of redemption episode or something like that? I hope not, because I love to hate them, lol, and I don't want to feel sorry for them.
Rusty: I tried to be. It's hard to imagine someone being so cruel. Plus his silence in all flashbacks and such, made me suggest he might be looking out for her secretly. Given this episode and the things he has said previously, any redemption is off the table. It would be for me. A simple apology for years of traumatic abuse is not going to cut it, they're in a position now that any apology is going to be questionable. I would very much hope they get what they deserve and stay out of Miyo's life.
