I spent so much time staring at box art on toys just getting more and more weirded out as a kid, late 90s to early 2000s graphic design was something else
Great retro review! This kind of reminds me of the How Wheels plastic roads similar with the traffic lights and road signs that I grew up with when I was a kid!
Nice video. No.6 Hospital was issued in 1996. A year later they issued Boat Bridge as No.6. I may have about 20 different playsets from this era in storage. Some of them were much larger than the one you reviewed. Thanks for showing the set.
The bridge set looks very unique - I’m definitely going to try and hunt that one down at some point! The service center (I think that’s what it’s called) from ‘96 or ‘97 is quite large. Overall some really cool sets.
Sam, you got a frame that little mini poster please tell me you’re gonna frame that thing that is just epic. I have a poster from 2000 that I found at a thrift store and I was just thrilled when I found it because it was folded up it wasn’t in a box or anything.
Some of those model lineups that were actual posters are so cool. I have one from HWs from 1986? I think and it’s awesome. I need to get that bigger one framed for sure! Mine was folded though so the creases are a bit of a pain
@@64Wheels yeah even if you do get the creases to flatten out, you can’t really fix what it did to the image on the paper. Sadly, I would love to see that one from 1986 because I can remember that year so vividly. In fact that super car wash I believe I got that for a birthday present that year and I would love to see One again that actually works. I don’t know what happened to mine. I’m sure it probably got thrown away or garage sale, but I do still have the fold out hot wheels From the early 80s the one that’s the collapsible buildings in the little elevator made out of the orange plastic.?
Ever seen the film No Man’s Land (1987) it centers around stealing Porsches and set in the 1980s. Anyhow I’ve been wanting to do a diorama one day with Porsches like that. I have a few actually made in Germany from that era as well as a few majorette when they were still being manufactured in France.
An exclusive set would explain why a fire station seemingly comes with a construction playset ha. I’ll have to check that out on eBay and see if I can find one.
the crane set thats un numbered might have been a prototype for what became the gold mine set? more often then not the older the toy the box art would have images of sets that were either prototypes or in other ways not redy for release. Like they had not settled on what vehicle was actually gonna go with the garage or what to price the set with and so forth. Mind you this is just my guess not some inside industry secret or something. also the wheelchair has legs meaing there was suposed to be a torso on it at some point.
That’s what my assumption was especially when it said “coming fall 1996” meaning the design and such wasn’t finalized at the time the box and catalog was printed. My guess is they included it in the graphic and it was either planned to part of the firehouse set and/or did end up becoming a separate set before the next year’s playsets came out. We don’t see that as much on modern toy boxes, but it did happen a lot on the older toys. I actually just messaged NECA (the action figure company) to ask them about a Back to the Future Delorean that didn’t make production, but I know prototypes exist!
I have the maybe 2015? talking police and fire station that has a CB radio style walkie with it that allows you to talk though the fire station speaker that’s pretty cool.

Definitely on my list of must haves to add to my rescue collection
This is the OG Mathbox action driver set

Haha gift and a curse right there🤣 The Luigi’s Pizza set from the Action System sets is pretty cool - that’s one I definitely need to track down!
I Finally found a luigi's pizza set on ebay last year. I was trying to catch one for years.
I can't wait to be a kid again and for someone to give me this mini city and the Go action sets u.u
Nice price, I bought one of these a couple years ago off ebay for about $60
Omg that's my favorite set😮😮😮😮
The fire station comes with the building with the crane in a exclusive box set

🎉
does it not come with a car?
It does not - surprisingly a lot of playsets back in the day did not come with cars.
@@64Wheels weird you think it whould, by the way i love your video's keep up the good work
There is police station and real talking airport and rescue play garage very like convoy truckstop

C'mon kids just want to buy and play with the toy who even bother to care who and who and what is on much much on the picture much !!
It’s a retro review lol - of course we’re going to discuss the box art.
