Dear Drew, Nice video! I think I need to get a Sherman. It looks like a standard project in the portfolio of an armour modeller. Thanks for your film. Regards, Z
Nice kit (I recently completed this Sherman). I used Evergreen sheet to block off the sponsons. Drilled the machine gun barrels. Used Silly Putty as a paint mask for the Tamiya spray cans (2AD version). Large paint brush bristle for the antenna. Looks good next to my Atlantis M4A3E8 Sherman (Aurora repop).
Wow! Sounds like you put a lot of extra touches on yours. Did you assemble everything and paint or leave off the wheels and tracks to paint separately? Take care! Drew
@@Drewsmodels The upper and lower hull fit well. Painted separately doing my best to match paint lines. Silly Putty is easy to adjust with a toothpick. Drive sprocket and tracks assembled prior to attaching the lower to the upper hull.
@@BrettG64 Thanks. I’ll give that a shot. Do you use your airbrush to spray the olive drab on the lower hull suspension area with the wheels and bogeys attached?
@@Drewsmodels No I shoot the ynderside of the hull, including the lower front and the suspention area. I also shoot the whells and drive sprocket at the same time. Then I weather the suspension area. Then I attach the wheels. Then once everything is assembled I block off the running gear area then progress with priner and paint on the rest.

I have only built one tank before. It was the Tamiya 1/48 Easy Eight Sherman. Really good model. Take care! Drew

This should be a good one. My son built the Firefly and he enjoyed it.
Great review... looking forward to the project.
Thanks, Brett!
P.S. how would you handle the wheels and tracks? Do you paint the wheels separately? Would put on the track and hand paint it? Thanks!
@@Drewsmodels On a 1/48 kit I would just assemble it all and then paint it. I even do it on 1/35 kits on occasion.
