    I am almost completely paralyzed (can only move my head), so I am super hyped about this brain-computer interface of Neuralink! At the same time scared, because I do no like to place stuff in my brain and how strange will it be? If it works well, that could be a major live changer for me! You handy people have 10 fingers that can very slowly upload your input to a computer, but I have to move my head in the direction of a key and then puff a straw or hold still for 0.75s to upload 1 text character (luckily my software keyboard has word prediction!). I wonder what comes first: a care robot equipped with superhuman AI, a computer-brain interface with which I can control my own robot exoskeleton, or a complete biological repair of the spinal cord. I hope the latter.

      @Michael kilby A wide variety of technologies are beïng developed in an accelerated pace. Anything that can reduce the hell of having a high spinal cord injury is very welcome. But I must say; nothing spectacular has been developed up to a useful level the last 23 years. No real repair of the spinal cord, no real care robots, it is still one huge struggle with not enough care and not enough tools. The biggest thing that happened in the late 90's, was getting access to a computer and the internet. So yes: I can only move my head and can work (slowly and somewhat limited) on a computer. The aim of Neuralink's computer-brain interface is computer access of a level far beyond what any of us have today. That could open a word of possibilities to me.

It just proves statements like 'you can do anything you want, you just need the mindset to do it without giving up. I remember when Space X was struggling because engineers won't join them and Elon had to step in as the Chief Engineer and work things out till they achieved huge success. Really an amazing idol because of his mindset to do the best things for the future without waiting for others to join in. Technological growth should always stay exponential.

    • @Kitora_Su
      @Kitora_Su 4 роки тому +9

      @@luicetta7983 BCI (Brain to Computer Interface)/ Neural Interface will be the key to full dive VR and modern communication i.e., artificial telepathy but instead this time it will be in our brains instead of a slow output from our mouth to a headset/mic. This will be the best form of communication without leaving any room for interpretation i.e., you will be able to convey exactly what you wanted to convey with no information loss and language problem ( ua-cam.com/video/Gqdo57uky4o/v-deo.html ).
      Now coming back to your question about voice communication, it is not a problem since you will be able to simulate the voice and sounds just like you can simulate touch or taste by writing the brainwaves artificially. It can be done through a CBI (Computer to Brain Interface) where it can take the thoughts you want to convey and stimulate it in the game simulation. E.g; the way it will simulate taste once you taste something in-game by firing similar electrical signals in the brain that describe the taste of an item through BCI. The environment will be simulated allowing our thoughts that we want to convey to be interpreted in the form of sound in the game simulation the same way as our brain will be simulated according to the environment with full sensory experience. So yes, it will be like communicating IRL but except you will be experiencing artificial action potentials.
      If you think about it IRL, we perceive the world through electrical pulses in our brain; everything we see and feel around us. This will be the same exact thing except the world will be virtual which can be accessed with only our minds and not out original bodies. Brain in a vat but this time it will be different vats according to our liking.

Look at a person using a mobile phone for the first time. They will press 1 button at a time, slowly. Now compare to someone that's been using it for years, you're multi tasking and typing five letters at once.
    Now imagine this with Neuralink, you're gonna see people flick on lights, aircons, make phonecalls, write memos etc all at the same frickin time, once they get used to not having a throughput bottleneck anymore.
    It's not JUST gonna be like, "wow this guy can turn on the TV with his brain wifi", no, you're gonna see people becoming like demi-gods being able to manipulate and fuck with DOZENS of things at the same second. It's gonna be wild. Imagine how fast you can search wikipedia and participate in comments and discussions online if all parties have Neuralink, dude you're gonna be having ten conversations at once without delay. Elon is a terrible public speaker - he has said so himself. Imagine all the thoughts coming into that mans mind as he speaks, and having to filter them all to just what is relevant and relatable by his audience. There's a reason why so many geniuses go mad or suffer from schizophrenia, and the true genius is being able to manage so many intelligent voices in one mind vying for attention.

    I think that fans of the movie "Surrogates" would agree that something of that nature if properly developed would be a great benefit to those lacking mobility. If we can immersively interact with a connected automaton a whole world of possibility expands logarithmically from that point forward for the entirety of humanity.

      I mean, once you can manipulate manufactured devices with the same ease that you'd move your own limbs, why not just cut out the middleman and custom-manufacture your own body?
      I think at that point we'd just do away with our flabby meat sacks and opt to be charming synthetic replicas of things we liked in our mortal lives. Imagine a world of cartoon-esque androids, piloted by once-human minds. I can see it getting so outlandish that some of us have trouble getting along.
      It also begs the question of how we go about determining attractiveness of one another in a world where we can all be shaped like the things of our dreams... or nightmares. I can see it being quite the threat to the concept of humanity, like nothing Darwin could have ever dreamed.
