There's also a reason that this is called "hypermile testing." If I cruise at 65 mph on level road in my '03 camry inline-4 cylinder, I get an average of around 50 mpg hypermile rating as well, so I feel that the ratings in this video are in the realm of believability.
No but it's heavier than Jetta TDI and has a lower city rating which evens out overall mpg (depending on driving style). The Passat TDI also has better highwy mpg vs. the Jetta despite being bigger, heavier, and automatic, party because of how the engine is tuned. The next gen. TDI engine in the 2015 VWs will all use Adblue (diesel exhaust fluid) in the US/Canada and I suspect highway mpg will be noticeably better than current engines (even on the same chassis) partly because of tuning.
so that is what the display says, i drove a jetta it said 53 mpg... but other people do the real calculation, how much to fill divide by kms driven... works out to 43 mpg.... try doing it right.
@@danthemans I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel, tuned and deleted, drove from Colorado to Kentucky about 15 hours straight, never turned the car off, started on a full tank, filled up 1 full tank and then filled up again but really only needed maybe a couple hundred miles worth. Averaged about 33 mpg hand calculated doing 100 MPH the entire way, as well as having to pass people at higher speeds. Cars work great, and that was in a car at probably 150k miles. Amsoil oil and transmission fluid.
I agree with Powerstroke, a recent major mag test showed the Cruze Diesel getting in the 40s ? Flat and level is NOT real world......................(yeah, maybe for a few miles??) The Prius or the Pious still beat it!!
So did you verify the accuracy of the MPG reading on the display? If those numbers are accurate then this car is significantly more efficient than a new TDI.
not accurate , do not believe the rubbish sensor that measuring the MPG on the go 🤣, I will teach you how to really measure the consumption of any vehicle with fueled motor. 1- Zero the trip counter. 2- Fill up the tank 3- Ride the car daily as normal to work to home to your daily business, ride it your ride 😉. 4- when the tank about to hit reserve or in reserve 5- Fill up the tank, note how many liters you filled up and see how many kilometers you done. 6- DO THE MATH 😉
Why the hell are we doing ev when they have cars like this out. THEY JUST WANT MORE MONEY

and try doing a test at 90, at 100 and at 110 kph... as you get best mpg at 90

The MPG you are seeing in this video is not the average and will fluctuate as you drive. A more accurate way to measure is to look at the average MPG.
Way better than my other car. Volvo. Supercharged and turbocharged. 13 in city. 18 on hiway.0
I have gotten 60 mpg. My average in winter is 30's. Let it warm up. Summer i get 44-60.

Wow, the Lord wills we live an option against the new vw diesel engine coming out; what are your thoughts?
I love your videos dude!!! I'm seriously looking into trading in my 2010 Equinox for a Chevy Turbo Diesel.
No brainer, slower = better mpg...
