I remember years ago when dark souls was first starting to get popular, there was a message board where people were sharing their experiences and advice about the game. One guy chimes in about how he beat the game for the first time. Everyone was quick to congratulate him and ask him what build he used. When he replied that he was a sorcerer everyone started ripping on him and saying he cheated or didn’t experience the game properly. Yeah. The soulsborne fanbase has always been full of self-important entitled idiots.

Did every boss need a 2nd phase that is just >Can fly now >Projectile spam I remember when 2nd phases were a surprise, now it seems a tacked on necessity and wearisome to see.
It's just become a jrpg at this point. Miyazaki said he wants to make a traditional jrpg next which makes sense, he can do those big flashy moves for bosses and still have it fit the gameplay.
Yeah some bosses absolutely did not need a 2nd phase. Like the Gold Hippo. The 2nd phase for that just feels like a bad joke at the expense of the player. Especially whith it comedically jumping through the air firing projectiles while the camera freaks out
@@DedAlexFive Dark Souls 2 did it right A lot of bosses were 1 phase, and then you'd have some that would crop up with a 2nd phase which made them feel more special, even if the 2nd phase sometimes didn't drastically change the boss. Rather see more of that then every single boss having 2+ phases and turning into a anime light show that deletes your health bar in 2 hits
>didn't drastically change the boss A good thing imo DS2 had bosses that expanded on their movesets come a phase 2, think Fume Knight doing stronger variants and a few (just a few) catches. Making moves more powerful (now that you should have learnt to dodge them) and catches, adds to the fight, a final boss being re-used, 2nd form re-used, and reductively being a T-Pose, spam magic, spam light attack, mess is comical at best.
You mean getting slammed against the wall by Commander Gaius and dying as soon as you call your spirit summon was a poor design? Who would have thought!
@@VarthalabauHair I think he's talking about NPC summons, which are even worse. With spirits you can at least decide WHERE you summon them, but its still ass, as you described. But with NPCs you gotta find their summon sign, get to it, activate it and follow up with pressing the "YEAH I ACTUALLY WANNA DO THE THING THAT I JUST CLICKED TO FUCKING DO" button in the middle of battle. Which is just pure AIDs-cancer. Its quite bizarre that FS do that crap, meanwhile there are pre-fight summons in this very DLC and Siegward in DS3 who "summons" himself for the Yhorm fight or even jumps into arena if you start the fight with a Fire Demon first. They can do it better, they can make it cinematic, but for some reason choose to make it bad.
@@cookiebaker2660 Almost as if Fromsoft doesn't do the exact same thing every time you can fight alongside an NPC. Summons inside a boss fight are as old as DS1 DLC and they're not often, they are special interactions that varies how you engage with the NPCs. You can dislike it of course but that doesn't make it bad design, is just one of MANY ways NPCs are summoned. The only time you don't need to confirm an NPC summon, as far as i remember, is against Radahn and is because everything around him revolves around a big party made just to kill him and summon people, this doesn't apply to every boss, if you don't want to summon accidentally you can cancel, with Radahn it doesn't matter, they die in seconds and it doesn't buff him or reduce your runes gained
23:50 this so fucking much, my biggest gripe with the game was that bosses have infinitely cooler movesets than me, and few spells/armaments that do look and feel cool are useless because bosses won't give you any time to execute them, so you're stuck with pressing R1 once or twice in-between the boss spazzing out, and this shit just ain't fun at all.
@@based-ys9um yes but these people are acting like this has the worst bosses in the series and I just have to point out that dark souls has mostly mid bosses
They didnt even bother to put cutscene or something when you enter the dlc. 2 years in wait and they didnt even bother putting some story before they drop you in.
Exactly! It’s like what’s the point of the 3 different endings in the base game with a cutscene if they didn’t even pick up the storyline for the players who chose 1 of the 3 endings from the base game entering in the DLC. 🤦🏽♂️ That’s why I’m so glad I didn’t buy this shit dlc.
@@rjproduction486 not just any still images either, it's obviously repurposed concept art. I understand doing that for demon's souls considering it was a budget title assumed to be a failure. Maybe it was supposed to be a nod to demon's souls but it just feels cheap and lazy. It amazes me how much better dark souls 1's opening cinematic is and that game came out over 10 years prior.
The DLC just feels like it doubled down on a lot of the problems from the base game. You have hyper-aggressive enemies, with bloated health and damage numbers, that you need to confront using the traditional Souls mechanics that aren't designed for that. In lieu of actually changing the base mechanics to suit faster gameplay, like Bloodborne or Sekiro did, Elden Ring opted for Ash Summons, in the base game, and Blessings in the DLC. One adds extra bodies to pull aggro - effectively for free -, and the other reduces the number bloat. I enjoyed the DLC well enough, but it does have me concerned about what kinda of impact it'll have on From's design mentality going forward.
It's hilarious to me that they "balanced" the game around summoning when its effectiveness relies entirely on exploiting the same old boss AI that we've had for 15 years now, the bosses still aren't designed to handle multiple opponents at once. That really tells me that this game's main goal was to attract a larger and more casual audience that could just enjoy the spectacle of the fights and get by without much hassle, and judging by the sales numbers, they succeeded big time. The addition of the pointless copypaste open world also supports this, it's really just normie bait. I can see how this game would blow your mind if you've never played a souls game before, there is that hands off approach and special vibe that fromsoft's known for, but for someone who's played these games since 2010, this game just doesn't hold up when compared to the ones that came before.
@@InkyMuste I'd actually make the argument that the AI has gotten worse in some regards, largely owing to the increased aggression. Bosses frequently spin on their heels and snap to entirely new targets on a whim. They also frequently get stuck in animation loops (usually pursuit or gap closing attacks) when you attempt to gain a little space.
the days of jolly co-op are sorely missed. i think bringing back covenants could have helped with that. an incentive to join in on that mechanic in the game used to be there. it's gone in Elden Ring.
Which is odd considering how “let me solo her/let me tank him” were redditfied, but yeah I do notice FAR less rando dudes ready to help. Imo it’s due to there not being covenants. Yes I know Elden ring “technically” had covenants but they sucked compared to the already flawed ones of early games. There is zero reason to help people with bosses now. You can get rune arcs elsewhere.
its impossible to help people with co-op because when you summon people in, they're absolute dogshit that expect to be carried (players like synth). they die instantly and then thats it.
@@TaddiestMasonbut the days of jolly cooperation are still here. Don't let the online crowd fool you. Summoning is a huge aspect, and many people use it.
Funny thing is Michael Zaki admitted in an interview that the Souls formula in an open world has been put to its limits with Elden Ring and they will not attempt another one and instead focus on Sekiro like games that are smaller but have multiple coming out.
I wouldn't mind another Sekiro-inspired game, as that game genuinely felt like its own unique thing completely separate from all the other Soulslike entries.
the biggest part for me, is the constant 10/10 over glazing everyone is giving the dlc its sickening. and the second you say otherwise to the elitists or try to speak with some level of objectivity they slam you with "skill issue" its so off putting
@@TheCristianalvarez I find it funny how fromsoft fanboys love to shit on western slop (ubisoft and ea games) without realizing that their games are also slop but japanese
Its a great DLC tho. Yes its hard but if you build right its not that much more than base game. Ppl are glazing but the other side of "its tooooo harrrrd pls nerf" from game journalists is sad
This DLC illustrates something fundamental that Fromsoft fanboys will never admit and it is that they basically designed ER to be ABSOLUTELY cheesed. I RARELY see a honest, basic, simple build. You will likely find cheese strats. And the people who defend it saying "Fromsoft gave you those tools you should use them" don't understand that BEFORE people didn't need it. If you play Co-op you will realize how HORRENDOUS at the game your average player is, why? Because the game REINFORCES BAD BEHAVIOURS. "Skill issue, get good" bro, NOBODY NEEDS to get good EVER in ER, all you need is a cheesy build and you win. And why is that? Because Fromsoft fundamentally made this game harder than it needed to be, so they allowed ALL of this crap to circumvent it. Horrible design, they cattered the experience of the game SO MUCH into being cheesable they make the basic combat completely worthless, your enemy is a twirling raging monster who can 3 shot you, and you have a basic b1tch moveset, and your L2. And people say this game is perfect, FUCK NO, this game pleases NOBODY, PvP is sh1t, and PvE is either an exercise of crashing your head against the wall, or completely rolling over everything in 3 hits. To give an example of how bad this design is, they made Radahn the hardest boss ever, and what did people do? Fucking cheese him whit Greatshields, if Miyazaki INTENDED the game to be hard, HE FUCKED UP, PEOPLE ARE COMPLETELY NEGATING THE DIFFICULTY. This is not even making the boss fair, people are rendering the FINAL BOSS into a complete JOKE, because the game has cultivated a culture of cheesing bosses. Remember when all you needed was a bigass weapon and any gear you wanted? Yeah, lets pretend your average player will kill Radahn whit an average build.
And all i did was use the golden halberd 99% of the game lol i didnt even think jump attacks were worth it, cause i could hit 2 or 3 times in the same time frame. I only had to change may strat with all of the holy immune bosses later. I see every op build and i just want to be a halberd using knight like when i played demon souls. when it comes to builds, I think bloodborne is better, where there is quite the build variety, but none of them shut every boss down like the sword of flame and sorcery(pre nerf) or bleed buildsor even jump attack builds.
Soulsborne has to be one of the most flanderized video game genres ever made. All the games do anymore is try to one-up each other in stupid difficulty over and over because “difficult = good” apparently? Bosses that have 15 different attacks, do crazy anime flips with a 100 foot sword, have a massive near-unavoidable AOE explosion move and 2 shots the player is considered “fun” by so many ppl now.
Massive unavoidable AOE explosion mechanics is a trend that needs to be cut off from boss design with extreme prejudice (next to infinite minions, looking at you Doom Eternal). Alatreon in Monster Hunter World was where I realized how stupid such a mechanic is, especially when the developers needlessly kneecap you to pretend it’s “challenging” when in actuality it’s just awful game design. “Git gud” has been turned from mockery against idiot journalists into defending bad developer decisions.
Not true, all dlcs bosses are in fact not harder than much end game bosses in ER if you optimized your character and lv up Scadutree Blessing levels. Bosses not often can one shot you even you play 3ppl coop. Unless your character isn't optimized or the host has
I like difficult games too but atleast the gameplay must have mechanics inside that opens up the gameplay instead lets you limit with the badic gameplay while bosses go crazy anime shenanigans that looks much cooler but wastes too much time time too . Ninja Gaiden had a deep system , Devil may cry goes totally bonkers , Godhand is still King of its own deeper gameplay- mechanics amd also Unreal Tournament 99 offers depth while its not challenging whatsoever. The Souls-franchise is rather limited and bores to tears compared to older difficult games.
What's the most frustrating part is that fromsoft won't change these issues because the normies worship this game like they can do no wrong. The empty world, the constant super armor, having to wait 10 seconds just to hit the boss one time, useless moves/weapons that only work on normal enemies. You're one of the only people talking about this which is frustrating. Customers REFUSE to advocate for themselves because "game development is expensive and harddd, be nice to them 🥺"
In a sense From has always gotten a pass on a lot of stuff that people would rake other devs over the coals for. Like DS1 being unfinished and rushed after you beat Andor Londo. On one hand it was because it was so unique and at the time you could forgive a lot. Now that Elden Ring made souls mainstream the normies forgive From for a lot even though the series is no longer unique and bought into the meme of being hard for hard's sake.
@@Flyon86 this. As much as I like fromsoft and enjoy most of their games,I will never understand the throating that the most braindead and rabid fromsoft fans have towards DS1 and Elden ring. Making them the best games ever to be made. DS1 is the worst souls. Literally unfinished and unpolished. Elden ring is all their issues compounded due to being Open world slop
@@KingOfhearts72 DS1 I think at least was incredibly unique for its time. Now we have tons and tons of the "soulslike" knockoffs in addition to From's later games so its lost a lot of the shine it once had. I still think the 1st half of DS1 is great. Although as other people are saying here, a bigger problem is how bad most big releases are now days that From stuff looks a lot better by comparison. Like compared to recent Ubisoft shovelware, From games look like a masterpiece.
@@Flyon86 it’s unique no doubt and I absolutely see the love for the 1st half and I agree with people on the 1st half. The 2nd half burned me badly on it,so it became my least favorite of the DS games.

Why continue playing if you didn't like it? I'm not going to say your opinion is wrong as its an opinion but if I don't like something I would just not continue.
@@dantevic certain parts of a game being annoying doesn't mean the entire game is annoying. I enjoy the souls games, even Elden Ring, but some of the bosses in the latter can feel artificially difficult.
I think the peak level design of FromSoft Soulsborne games is Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1, and Bloodborne. So many secret areas and paths to discover, yet you still had a generally linear direction to push towards.
Ah yes Dark Souls 2, The game where you go to a giant windmill, go up an elevator, and arrive at a huge castle in a pool of lava. Truly peak level design.
I got into a twitter fight on Endymion's post abt the game, and the guy saying he was just bad for not liking the piss poor boss design lost his shit when I said I beat Artorias in the first attempt. These people, they're not simply masochists, they're zoomers who got eviscerated in the first games and developed this mentality that trying every other boss 40 or even SIXTY times is just normal and if you disagree you're bad at the game
What I find funny is when people make claims they beat the toughest bosses second or even first try. I'm sorry but that's damn near impossible. And even funnier when they complain a boss is BS because it took them 10 attempts to beat. I'm sorry but if you can defeat a boss in so little attempts then you cannot state its difficult, and makes me wonder why they bother playing in the first place as the challenge is the whole point
artorias isnt shit compared to anything in elden ring, what do you mean? he was difficult when dark souls 1 was current but is an absolute cakewalk compared to even middling bosses in DS3/ER.
@@r.r.r.r.r.r.r. Yep, the guy just proved my point, he got his ass kicked by mid-difficulty bosses and thought it was normal to die 40 times to half of the bosses in the game. He also claimed that the challenge is the whole point of the game, so we know he didn't even watch the video as Synth proves this is false, and the challenge was merely a highlight of FS' games. Bro made my day lol
There's a good amount of streamers that play Erdtree for their break game currently , it is kind of jarring to see pro gamers get nowhere for hours on some of these bosses and I wouldn't fair better. It really did become "Prepare to Die" the game while forgetting elements that made the older games .. well actually enjoyable to learn the process of.
@CC-xh1ok The first Dark Souls from 2011 originally coined the tagline "Prepare To Die" as a message that goes both ways. At first, the enemies are saying that to you, as your armor, weapons, and stat levels are extremely low and can't withstand much damage. However, the more you explore and discover better armor, upgrade your weapons, and level up your stats, the tables turn and you'll actually be saying that to the enemies.
@@NexusKin Also to hammer home the mentality that death is a learning experience and should be used as an opportunity to gather intel rather a statement about how much of a jobber you are.
It's really hard to do a cosplay run in ER, seriously. I can't role play as a sword guy using Rellana's Twin Swords, using Carian weapons while wearing my Banished Knight chest and armor and base game Radahn's gloves and greaves. The enemies as way too many HPs to play with no bleed, plus I have to worry about their janky hitboxes, over-aggressive move sets, a waiting game of their ultimate combos only to squeeze is tiny window to attack, and particle effects that are too difficult to read. The problem with this dodge roll simulator of a game is that the players' mechanics are so outdated to deal with the enemies and bosses' advanced attacks, combos, and their mobility. It's not fun fighting most of the bosses in the DLC. I find Messmer tolerable enough since I can still beat that guy in NG+7 solo, three times with my max level guy, and one time with my Lv. 150 guy (might upload this at some point). Yeah, the fights are not fun, and somehow, I had more fun doing the perfume cheese and I took down Consort Radahn with the cheese with my max level guy, and I did that on NG+7. The same set-up that was used by Synthetic Man was still pretty strong and it melted the bosses on NG+7. Also, it's great that you point out certain things. There are more strong female character vibes in this DLC that it feels off. Nepheli is tame compared to the other strong female characters in DLC, and the entire light greatsword weapon type is primarily for females (see Milady weapon description and Rellana and Leda have light greatswords on their arsenal too). The thing with the Berserk reference on Miquella feels weird too and I'm getting Griffith vibes on Miquella (yeah, I watched the Analyzing Evil series about Griffith, so I am aware that Synthetic Man is aware of the weird stuff in this DLC and the game being released on Pride Month). The gameplay is mostly not fun, but trying to make it fun and landed some nice solo kills on some marquee bosses, but it takes so much work to pull it off. Overall, this DLC feels strange to me and Synthetic Man's problems are the same things I observed exactly. In terms of difficulty scaling, I somehow was able to survive against Consort Radahn, and this final boss broke my older brother. He stopped playing ER even though he beat the final boss with the Mimic Tear (yeah, I also used the Mimic Tear to wipe out the final boss in 90 seconds after getting frustrated by its artificial difficulty for the first clear while dying during that fight). He was taking more damage than me, and he was over Lv. 200 in NG and Lv. 19 blessing. Base NG should not be rough as NG+7, and he had a much harder time dealing with the BS of the boss. ' So, any of the problems in the DLC are addressed, so thanks for bringing this up, Synthetic Man. When I did my max level NG+7 cheese on Consort Radahn, I watched this video and said, "Griffith" too. I am going to miss the cheese dearly. And yeah, I also beat this atrocious final boss solo with the dead-brain Fingerprint Greatshield and poking this guy to death with the Godskin Noble's heavy thrusting rapier.
@@manz7860 The bleed infusion is just way too good. I can't beat Midra with the Carian swords, but I am able to destroy him with the powerstance two Longswords. Even using the heavy thrusting rapier with bleed with the poke cheese will beat the DLC final boss comfortably. At least, I was able to beat Romina with the twin blades with my Lv. 150 guy, and it's still has good use.
I also think Dark Souls 2 actually parodied what people thought Demon's Souls and DS1 were originally like way back in 2014, because DS2 was overwhelmingly cheap and unfair with every single mechanic, feature and design choice.
Dark Souls is not difficult. Dark Souls is easy. What made it difficult was people were used to "just mash the buttons" gameplay like Kingdom Hearts or God of War. They were not used to careful decision making gameplay. Elden Ring is ACTUALLY difficult. Difficult does not mean fun.
So Mohg and Radahn got Miquellested. Miquella wanted Radahn to be his consort, he apparently refused, so Miquella sent Malenia to kill Radahn to resurrect him under his control. That didn’t work out, so he put Mohg under his control and then waited for us to kill them to resurrect Radahn under his control in Mohg’s body. I think a lot of retconning happened, because Miquella was originally in the base game with a questline and ending, but yeah, they made him evil.
"The Age of Compassion" sounds somewhat similar to communism, I'm just saying... Taking away people's free will & individuality, not cool Miquellester. A lot of weirdos have latched on and are making fan art & lewd art of Miquella. Very bizarre.

I miss the time when bosses were strong, but rather simple. Remember the time when Artorias and Manus were a big deal, because of their speed and aggressiveness? Manus' temper tantrum wombo-combo? Yeah, that was tough. But it was one boss, not every single major boss. Even Gwyn's moveset is rather simple. Artorias was almost on your level. Now every boss has to be flashier, more crazy than the last to the point where even logic is now thrown out of the fucking window as a cheap way to "subvert expectations." One ten minute long ballerina bullshit combo after the other. Have the boss delay the attacks to mess up your timing deliberately. That's basically the From Software formula today. Plus add some cheap ass, awkward, vague, remorseful dialogue somewhere to make the character more sympathetic or something. Reuse ideas from previous titles if you are creatively bankrupt. Have some bombastic orchestra in the background. Name the boss something like "XY, the [INSERT TITLE HERE]" and you have an instant classic boss. I want a boss called fucking "Bob" for once... Plus listen to what players criticize about the areas and do exactly the same thing again, only more. Poison swamps? Check. Shitton of "GOTCHA!" moments? Check. Winter Lanterns from Bloodborne which were terrifying the first time, but absolutely tedious on repeat playthroughs? Check. SlopSoftware fans will eat it up anyway. That delicious, delicious slop. They'd rather commit the most heinous, most nefarious crimes than say one bad word about FS games. You can bet your ass if Dark Souls 1 was made today, even the god damn Taurus Demon would have some bullshit anime move where it flies up in the sky and spins around and you have less than a second to dodge, but it delay the attack mid air and instakills you, and you have to listen to some fucking dialogue every death. God help the poor fool that dares to criticize them publicly... I was way too harsh with Dark Souls 2.

First ER, then AC6, now SotE. I'm afraid to see we are entering a new From era, and not a better one. I doubt they'll go back to their original philosophy on design and difficulty now.
Elden Ring has cool looking zones but they aren’t intricately built like their older titles and the most damning thing to me is the bosses aren’t fun to fight, like ever. I miss more compact, detailed zones with zero torrent. Fuck I hate Torrent he’s basically everything wrong with this game.
the final area of the game where you fight Radahn has like a Smithing Stone [6] or 7 on a difficult to reach (kinda hidden) place, it's like they randomly placed crappy loot to fill spaces and lengthen the game, so much pointless "exploration"
I think the open world is beautiful and isn't that empty. There r certain areas that r empty and were completely wasted like the Abyssal Woods, the Finger ruins and the area under the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, but the rest ain't that bad. Plus the layout of the land is perfect. Way better than the base game. The fact that they reward u with the most basic items is really disappointing. Enemies should've had higher drop rates. And the fact that even in the dlc, they're fucking stingy with dragon smithing stones is an abysmal choice to make.

As much as I love Fromsoft I do agree its overrated. Not bad by any means and still great in fact but they literally doubled down on the BS that plagues late game Elden Ring. The problem is too many people think they are god and can do no wrong. Try pointing out any flaw and you will get called a casual lmao.
I didn't have any of these issues people are complaining about. Elden Ring is a little too easy for me, even in the late game. And I'm only a mid-tier Souls player with old-man hands. So to see people complain about non-issues is baffling. Sometimes "git gud" is the only way. Or maybe, if you don't like it, play something you do.
Now that I think about it, I actually do miss DS1's combat philosophy. While I don't mind the aggressive combat philosophy they have going, what made DS1's combat unique was that it rewarded patience. Since Bloodborne, all the games have been about aggression. Back in the era of Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 2, the games played more slowly and passively, and it rewarded you for your patience.
Patience... the kryptonite of the zoomer. They need the flashiness to amp up the dopamine spike in their media-fried brains, or they'll find it boring.

You can make a game challenging while still making it fun, but Fromsoft drones have been conditioned to think pressing circle at the right time is supposed to be fun. I swear them and speedrunners have optimized how to suck the fun out of games. When even their god Miyazaki sucks at his own game and uses every tool at his disposal. Why shouldn’t I use Perfume bottles?
If difficulty was much more multifaceted you'd be complaining about the unnecessary complexity. @@waiz0231ok, there are games available for people who want genuine, raw challenge: ninja Gaiden, sifu etc. Souls games aren’t even fundamentally hard, much of it is positioning and knowledge, that’s literally it.
The best point ya made is at the end. One I didn’t think of. The irony and hypocrisy of how when a game caters to normies and gets way more people to it,(and those people are supposedly progressive and accepting)it suddenly becomes MASSIVELY more toxic. It’s true how yeah, back when it was genuinely seen as a good thing to help people with bosses. Now you’re scum who didn’t beat the game if you use summons. I’ve made example of it before, but we noticed it INSTANTLY when MH world broke records with normies. Suddenly long sword users/dual blade users were loathed and non “meta” builds were kicked. (Rage gaming was a DISASTER for MH due to all their “ZOMG BROKEN BUILD” vids)
What really grinds my gears about Elden Ring as a whole is wasted potential for Fromsoft to actually break away from the bleak post apocalyptic dying world stuff. I enjoy the gameplay loop, I love traversing these beautiful/cool designed areas they make and even the spectacle of some of the bosses, but after five games all falling into the same kind of nihilistic premise and all plot being delivered through lore tidbits, I'm tired of the formula. Imagine if Elden Ring didn't take place in yet another world where everything already went kaput and instead the player's normal goal was preventing the Shattering and saving the world in a more straightforward Dragon Quest/Legend of Zelda "Adventurer sets out to defeat the big bad or gets thrust into it by circumstance" manner (alternate questlines for different endings and outcomes still present). Imagine if instead of a big open world populated 99% by things that wanted to kill you, there were towns, settlements, castles, etc populated by normal NPCs going about their life that reacted to you and your deeds in between the areas full of stuff that only wants you dead. Imagine if instead of the Ashes, you could actually find party members with their own personalities, dialogue, reactions, objectives and trials to overcome akin to Igon and Bayle (I mean, that Radahn fight in the base game where you can join forces with a bunch of NPCs on a battlefield shows some potential if they made said NPCs more than just silent one-off ghosts). Imagine plotlines that don't require the average person to watch a youtube video where someone compiles and makes sense of every item description in the game to paint a picture and you could actually experience most of it in-game or at least have the footnotes given to you by a town crier or a scholar in a town. Basically imagine a Dragon's Dogma like game experience as done by From Software only replace the Arisen by a Chosen Undead. It's really saddening how FromSoft just keeps churning out these bleak worlds instead of trying to put their level design, detail and polish into a living, less cynical world, and apparently Miyazaki says the open world design was a one and done thing so something like what I said above is definitely never happening.
Imagine a Majora's Mask like Fromsoft game, where you have 3 days to save the world, a straightforward story which is easy to understand and emotive. Imagine legendary quests like reuniting Kafei and Anju before Armageddon..... Right now, Fromsoft games feel like an empty shell, slop for the dumbed down masses.
@@Cyberpsych0_ Interesting ideas from both you & Toaster. Did Majora's Mask do that well, though? When it came out, I remember hearing about the time limit and being iffy on that. I don't think I was alone. It's been a long time, so... But the ability for a company that is selling a luxury item that is also a piece of art (vidya game) to take chances is well appreciated. I think a lot of people are disappointed in terms of the DLC because FromSoft didn't take much in the way of chances, if any: - lore is just nonsense (of the stupid, non-forshadowed kind) - extra weapons, spells are cool but like base ER, many seem useless, niche, or PvP only - empty areas, bosses & regular enemies with more animu flashy attacks that are hard to do anything about - reused assets - empty areas & mindless drops (a problem in some areas in base ER, also legacy dungeons with boss drops have little rhyme or reason usually) - overall poor execution It would have been pretty cool of them to update the base game with SOME of the DLC weapons for free, somehow. Or if they were working on a smaller, cheaper DLC in secret. In summary: FS seems to be hesitant to take any chances because they've built up a specific customer base & reputation.
@@PaulieMcCoy it wouldn't be a huge risk for FS to implement some changes to it's base formula while retaining boss battles / PvP which have built up the fan base. Things like interesting puzzles you find in Zelda games which force you to find a solution before you can proceed accompanied by the legendary Zelda 'problem solved' sound effect, dynamic events occuring based on the time of day (such as the thief Sakon in Majora's Mask stealing from the old lady at midnight), realistic NPC schedules and routines like Zelda / Skyrim / Oblivion rather than everything being braindead and trying to kill you like in Souls games (as the original poster mentioned). Basically I'm looking for a grown up Zelda, and FS are the closest to making it.
It personally irks me how many poor game designs still exist in ER which is supposed to be a modern AAA game. Even the input lag is terrible for a 2022 game, let alone fighting a gargantuan boss with a gazillion AoE attacks when I can't see wtf is happeing in the goddamn screen. Even in DS3 the camera zoomed out when fighting Midir, why are Souls games evolving backwards?
My main problem with the bosses of the dlc isn’t the crazy health or high damage attacks. It’s the terrible camera angles and attacks that get frame caught. Even in the base game the craziest attacks were all able to be dodged with practice. But this dlc completely throws that philosophy out the window. 50 plus deaths just to die to something unfair. Nothing is more demotivating than that.
Yeah, that's been a major From criticism for years, but fanboys have got Miyazaki sniffing his farts at this point so nothing changes or things regress. Also, at least the prison team will always have a crowd, with their fans being in prison with them.
What's the point of having a healthbar in soulslikes anymore? Just give the player 3 hearts and make every enemy deal 1 heart of damage, while a sip of estus restores 1.
Likely just mind games. It’ll look more exciting/impressive to see a huge chunk taken off a health bar than to see one unit depleted. Even if it is effectively the same thing.
@@mrshmuga9 The only reason to have a health bar is to give full facetank builds a chance, someone beat the final boss of the DLC without blocking or dodging, but for everyone else the bosses are 2-3 hit deaths.
See he keeps saying that, but it's just because HE'S trash at it. I don't throw myself against a boss for hundreds of tries. I beat every single one of them within 1-12 tries in this DLC, no cheese needed. For him it'd be masochism to fight them the way countless others do with perfect success.
@@TheStraightestWhitest Definitely dude, you are being absolutely honest. In fact, please show us how you defeated Radahn fair and square in less than 12 tries.

my only gripe for the dlc was that instead of Godwyn, the final boss was a reused character from the base game that was already a boss. They should have at least incorporated more design elements of Mohg cause I was expecting a fusion of his omen curse and Radagn that would be an abomination we would have to put down
Godwyn is the deadest person you can name and reviving him would destroy every story hes's involved because they're based on him DYING (Ranni's ending-Shattering) and BEING DEAD (Deathroot). And incorporating more things about Mohg will get the crying people to cry even more since now with the visual expectacle you also have to add Radahn applying bleed and bloodflame attacks. It also defeats the purpose of, you know, a god using it's power, what's the point of eveything Miquella has done and his future plans if he can't even revive someone to be normal instead of an abomination we have to put down? This was a clash of beliefs, not some monster we have to defeat, you're opposing a realized god, not another evil monster
@luciano1240 I'm just looking for enough high after lichdragon fortissax and have no clue how it would affect the lore. I do see your logic tho and you're completely right. I'm gonna go now and wait in Stasis until the death knights are brought up by Vaati like a sleeper agent
@@luciano1240But some sort of version in the Shadowland would have been believable. That would have been sooo fucking good.
@@luciano1240 Come on man, Elden Ring is a high fantasy setting full of eldritch magic, divine spells, outer gods with unimaginable powers, and we have canonically Miquella who made several attempts at ressurecting Godwyn, as well as his knights, so no, it would be VERY easy to justify a Godwyn ressurection and Miquella himself in the base game thought that it was doable. In a setting like Elden Ring you can basically justify anything through divine / magic / cosmic shenanigan.
This. Never understood why you couldn’t be a fan of synth and a fan of fromsoft games, and not be mature enough to not melt down when he voices his critiques. Even more so when he’s right on Elden ring and the DLC. (Imo it’s not their usual quality due to falling for the open world slop curse)

@@Flyon86I call BS when fan mods exist. Super Mario RPG is a remake, and they made it easier (ignoring the new, extra moves). That’s not a screwup, you literally have all the numbers and whatnot made for you. It’s a choice. Heck, I’ll play some games and the Normal mode is too easy so I’ll switch it to Hard (if available). This isn’t because I’m some highly-skilled player, I’m not. It’s because they basically relabelled Easy mode as “Normal” and Normal to “Hard”. And then added an even EASIER mode under that if you’re somehow too lazy to watch a playthrough/cutscenes on UA-cam. We basically have “Very Easy, Easy, Normal”. Except, sometimes the “Hard” (Normal) difficulty isn’t available until AFTER you beat the game. I don’t want to play it again just so it’s at a MODERATE difficulty level, especially if it’s a long RPG. And said games let you rotate between currently accessible difficulties at anytime anyway. Honestly, just take away any trophies relating to difficulty if that’s the hangup. Have them all available at the start. Or, if you REALLY want a “hard” mode that once you select you’re stuck with it, then have it as its own thing but still offer a regular sort of hard mode. Or a damage multiplier. Playing through FF7 Rebirth. I’m only in the grass area, fine, but enemies die well before you get into the groove, even with dynamic difficulty on. I like the combat of these games, but being allowed to actually engage in it shouldn’t be limited to mid-boss/boss fights. Even something like Paper Mario TTYD lets you engage with basic enemies longer. It also doesn’t help that your other party members not actively in your team can hit them from the sidelines too. At any time you have 2-4 NPC’s fighting on your behalf to fight 2-5 enemies, and some of those enemies can be really weak (like plants and whatnot). I hope it improves, but according to some forums, only in the last 3rd. Shouldn’t have to wait that long just so I can’t sneeze and miss a battle.
@@mrshmuga9 Fan mods are usually harder than base game because it's for "enthusiasts" more than casuals. Like I've played a lot of mount and Blade mods and most of them are harder than base game.
@@Flyon86 I get that, but your point was it’s hard to balance, as if games haven’t done balancing well for at least 20 years. It’s not something new that has to be learned. And I wasn’t even talking about fan mods making an _actual_ hard mode, I mean mods that balance the game properly. You know, what the devs are supposed to do, and sometimes try to fix after-the-fact with a patch (to individual segments, not the entire game).
@@mrshmuga9 Games have been trending to easier and easier since the beginning of the xbox 360 era. That's why people liked dark souls in the first place, games at the time were becoming incredibly easy and hand holdy.

This DLC is a fucking disaster. It improves on absolutely none of the criticism people had for the main game. It's like they actively decided to make this an "Elden Ring's worst hits" safari, with more fucking terrible dragon and tree sentinel fights, almost every main game enemy getting reused, and doubling down on the terrible crafting and cookbooks nobody uses or cares about. What's worse is that this time you can't ignore the open world slop because you have to check every corner for blessings so you don't get 2- or 1-hit by every boss. So the DLC has 0 replayability on new characters, once again designed to appeal to the normies that don't replay games anyway. I think you're right about fromsoft designing their bosses for those "streamer moments" now more than anything, so all the tourists playing through this game one time and never coming back can rave about how much they and Asmongold raged when that one boss did a 30 hit combo followed by an arena-wide AOE. The bosses are basically DMC fights now - some like Rellana or Radahn can literally air juggle you with some of their attacks, while you're stuck with sub-DS3 mobility and attack speed. Fromsoft have lost the plot. Miyazaki used to talk about how the difficulty wasn't the point of these games - it was the feeling of joy when you overcome it. Unfortunately the crowd of "dis game so hard!!!!" moron streamers and normies have infiltrated the fandom to the point where we're being treated as the outsiders. And honestly, if this is the direction this game is going to go now, with open world ubislop exploration and ragebait bosses, with no good lore because normies don't care about that, I think I'm done with these games.
That last part about feeling like an outsider to a game community you've been a part of for so long is too true, man. So many game companies and developers straying away from the roots and perfection of what made their original games so good. Becoming diluted and homogenized for the casual masses. I don't think i'd be able to list off the amount of times this has personally happened to me but games like Halo, destiny (tbf it was always shit from release, but d2 and everything after forsaken just completely irredeemable), For Honor, rainbow six, Dark souls, Call of duty, borderlands, battlefield, Resident evil, silent hill, Final fantasy, tomb raider, Wolfenstein, Ark Survival, God of War. Hell, there's prob so many more im forgetting right now. And each and every one of em affected by dev studio greediness to hone in on the mass consumer casuals that have no respect or gratitude for what made these series so amazing in the first place. The masses coming in and acting like everything that we adored is some kind of nostalgia bias. I'm fucking sick of it. "flanderized" really is the perfect word to describe fromsoft's incessant need to one-up themselves in terms of difficulty. It feels like they're responding to some (mostly) non-existent criticism that the previous games were too easy. I remember feeling rollspam fatigue as early as ds3 and was hopeful, since it was the last game in the trilogy, to see less of that kind of content, not more. Miyazaki has said that he wants to return to smaller games after Elden Ring. I really hope that means he and his team will be willing to step back and examine what made the early games so good because it was never solely about the difficulty.

A common theme I've noted in elitists of all sorts of different types of media or pastimes is that they seem to derive some sort of intrinsic self-worth from their commitment to the media or pastime. And one by-product of that is that if you don't derive the same amount or kind of self-worth from said Media or pastime, they feel that makes them better than you. Now I'm not saying this applies to every single one, but I would bet it applies to a lot more than are willing to admit it. You see the same kind of thing in sub-elitists in anime. It's supposed to just be entertainment you watch for fun. Or with games, something you play for fun. Not everyone plays video games for the same reasons or gets the same kind of enjoyment out of them. Some people are really competitive and a game isn't fun if they're not competing against real people. Others just want to leave real life for a while and pretend to be another person in a game. For those kind, how skilled they are at sitting in a chair pressing plastic buttons has no impact on how much fun they're having. Now most people can understand that basic premise, but one thing with the elitists is that they can't imagine the concept of liking something different than themselves or liking something in a different way than themselves. Everything is measured against their own standards or experience. If you say you don't like something, it must mean you're actually just not good at it because that is the only scenario in which they can picture themselves saying they don't like it. They have no idea if that person who doesn't feel like spending the time to 'git gud' works at a stressful job 70 hours a week, or raises a family, or does amateur MMA or uspca shooting competitions, or competitive cycling, or they just got done spending 4 hours restoring a really expensive oak desk in their garage or any number of a million other things people can do that might be stressful or challenging or competitive enough for them already. Maybe video games aren't meant to be a challenge for them because they get enough of that elsewhere. Maybe they just want to sit down and relax for an hour. But since the elitists are not such people, they literally cannot imagine that people like that even exist. Everyone must be just like them and if they say they're not they're just making excuses.
I agree in a general sense, but for something like this the difficulty (for better or worse) is on the tin. If it bugs you that much you wouldn’t be playing them in the first place. That’s not to say they can’t still go overboard beyond that, but that you can’t really use those examples (kids, life stressors, whatever) because even if you can cheese them, these games have a reputation for being notoriously hard. So people that would have a problem because of those examples, wouldn’t be playing the game to begin with.
@@mrshmuga9 maybe, but some people really like the whole creepy monster medieval fantasy vibe the series gives off. There aren't that many games in the same style. It won't kill the Genre for me but I will be very hesitant buying a Fromsoft Souls game if they continue this. Lies of P nails the Souls Style Boss Fights Perfectly. You can actually use The Jugs and Grease Equivalents and guess what? The Game is just as Hard as any Souls from FS.
The more I play elden ring the less I enjoy it. I did really like my first playthrough up until lyndell capital, but everything after that sucked. I recently went back and replayed dark souls 3 since they were doing a community event at the time and I realized how it's just better than elden ring in every way. Fromsoft and Miyazaki have really lost touch with what make their older games so good. Plus the "souls" style of game only works as a linear game or a metroidvania, not as an open world.
Every single game in From's library prior to ER, i was a knight, (veteran in bloodborne), and i used a shield or roll/strafed in (bloodborne, dark souls 3). This is not the case anymore, and as someone who has played these games since 2011, i'm sick of FromDrones calling others scrubs and to ''git gud!''. It is not fun, nor engaging to roll past a 15 combo attack, just to get 1 or 2 hits in, then rinse and repeat. Sekiro and Bloodborne is still the best games in their lineup, because they gave the player from the get go the same level of movement as the enemies that you're fighting. Saying ''GET GUD'', is such a weak rebuttal, and it is time that enjoyers of their previous better works take this saying back.... If i have to keep using larval tears to attune my stats to beat a certain boss, or to have any sense of enjoyment out of it, with the bare minimum, then someting is clearly wrong in the design department In prior games, i could beat the games with just the bare minimum, without having to pull my hairs out. From needs to stop catering to ''le prepare to die'' crowd, that Bandai Namco ruined an entire future game industry with, in the ''Prepare to Die'' edition of Dark Souls on PC. They fundamentally do not understand Souls games. As a Souls veteran (cringe), im sick to my stomach that From and Bandai has seemingly gotten a free pass to do anything that they like without any warranted criticism. It is a cult following at this point, because i can talk just as much about the negatives at this point, as i can with the positives, but the majority of videos is just dickriding content, to see who can get an early copy of From's next game. You don't like FromSoftwares current design direction?? GET GUD! This marketing campaign should be studied, honestly. Do you ever see someone like Vaaty or IronPineapple say anything negative? Nope. And you don't bat an eye to that fact
I commented earlier about the insane amount of glazing that is totally unearned. What's so funny is the "Git gud" defense doesn't even work in this game. It was impossible for me to beat promised consort radahn with my build. So I larval tearered used the erdtree great sheild and deflect tear with a great katana. It trivialized him. My build let me beat him not my skill, so there's no "Git gid" at all, it's build better.
This. 100% my feelings to how fromsoft is going now that they’re mainstream. It’s how I saw the writing on the wall for MH when world released. It was massively popular and successful but alienated the original audience. Then the next game went further casual, and that alienated even the world fans. (Talking about MH rise). I’m worried that fromsoft will produce slop that is popular with normies/streamers now,and is unrecognizable to their previous work.
At what point do we get to say to FROMsoft "Git Gud at designing better games"? Because no matter what your answer is, I am saying it right now. GIT GUD, FROM!
Miyazaki inspiring in Berserk is overrated Like on this point he can make a 1:1 Berserk adaptation and would be better than the lore of this "Elden DarkSouls-Bloodborne" (even DS and Blood are very cool and unique in the story and world) Has no unique story except maybe the family of gods and the "other gods" but the lack of lore makes a shitty fanmade story
@@noway6633 yes superficial in the Dark Souls and bloodborne, you have Ludwin or some Demon design BUT THIS GAME COPY ALL BERSERK ALL Miquella is just Griffith with incest, Rykard is straight from BERSERK without a good explanation, the world has a lot of animal-humans and the Lore is ALMOST almost Dark Souls with the dragons being the kings of humanity and the "Grace" being a TP without reason in this world Thats why im mad because Sekiro and Bloodborne are more original and this Game is just LAZY could be a Dark souls 4 smash with Bloodborne and changes nothing
@@Morfe02 You mention Griffith which is valid, but then you mention Rykard? What? You could only think of one point the game took from berserk. At least do your research if you're gonna have a meltdown.
This is the first “souls” dlc that I don’t feel like replaying, at all. Elden mid really destroyed the genre itself, and they sold 50 billlion copies, so no chance of another fromsoft banger ever again. It’s so over.
Why on earth would you buy the dlc if you think the game is mid? I bet you didn't even play it and just went along with the garbage spouted by mr. synthetic reddit mod.
@@DrJones0801 Because I play spoiler free and wanted to give ir a chance since the other titles had amazing dlcs. Besides, don’t associate my opinions with those of this f-slur. It’s the greatest game of all time and clears every other Souls game combined. Thank god it sold well because this is exactly the direction the genre needs to pursue in the future
This series seems to just be an escalation of "cheese" tactics. They ramp up the BS, and you have to one up them. This just keeps going until what? You have to install cheat engine to even get out of the starting area?
For some reason alot of the Elden Ring fanboys pretend like youre just supposed to go in blind and dodge roll until you win even though in reality they probably all got their Builds and strategies off of Reddit that they used to beat the game
Good point actually. I have noticed as their games have gone on,I’ve cared less about skill and more about”what is the most cheese thing I can do to not have to bother with mechanics”? It can be fun getting something to work in a way that’s cheesey, but at the same time yes it also obviously detracts because I’m spending less time engaging the game the “intended” way. It says a lot too when ongbal and others note that the DLC does push you to use s from rolls to block the constant massive explosions(or be Far,FAR away)or even sometimes obscure ash or wars like the crow dodge if you want to avoid damage. It pushes people into two camps, dodge everything and slowly(or quickly plink health with a status build),or use a cheesey tank build.
None of the dlc bosses are that hard bro to need any cheese unless you’re below average in reflexes and pattern recognition. Most bosses take a max 1 hour with the harder ones being around 2 with a average typical build
@@KingOfhearts72 It's mind-boggling to me that people see someone come up with a smart strategy and say "cheese! cheese! cheese!" It's not cheese it's STRATEGY ffs
No one is talking about how skibidi fragments ruin replayability. I already know that this boring ass map is practically empty and where all the good weapons or spells for my build are …. yet I have to waste hours grabbing items that don’t actually make the game any more fun. Anybody saying to “just get more scad fragments” when somebody complains about a boss is a mindless waste of effort. Having more damage and defense doesn’t change a bosses design at all.
@@broccolin I agree that it’s funny. It’s absolutely absurd to me that they didn’t think far enough ahead to see how they affect the SECOND playthrough?!?!? Game is ran by and for shitters…..

i sincerely hope from software sticks to the "no making sequels" mentality after this, even if its a big success and publisher will prolly beg for it, maybe at least they can get away with making it not as open world? it just seems like being open world was this game's biggest mistake, completely incompatible with the quest design imo.

Fromsoft really should have stopped after bloodborne. Since then, basically every boss has either been an abnormally-fast combo machine or a screeching, flailing thing that takes up way too much of the screen. Everything has to be bigger, flashier and more powerful than the next thing. There was a line, and it was crossed some time ago.
@arkworthy8594 Sekiro was the only entry I'd consider to not be a Souls-like game. It was more of a stealth action-adventure game with none of the limitations and RPG restrictions of all the other entries.

Yeah I remember when in the well made and very liked game where they were perfected, Dark Souls 2, were surprising.
Especially whith it comedically jumping through the air firing projectiles while the camera freaks out
@@DedAlexFive
Dark Souls 2 did it right
A lot of bosses were 1 phase, and then you'd have some that would crop up with a 2nd phase which made them feel more special, even if the 2nd phase sometimes didn't drastically change the boss.
Rather see more of that then every single boss having 2+ phases and turning into a anime light show that deletes your health bar in 2 hits
>didn't drastically change the boss
A good thing imo
DS2 had bosses that expanded on their movesets come a phase 2, think Fume Knight doing stronger variants and a few (just a few) catches.
Making moves more powerful (now that you should have learnt to dodge them) and catches, adds to the fight, a final boss being re-used, 2nd form re-used, and reductively being a T-Pose, spam magic, spam light attack, mess is comical at best.
Rest in peace Rolling Sparks (2024-2024)
You were too good for this world.
amen
You didn't discuss the super fun meta-game of trying to summon NPC's inside the boss arena, while trying to avoid pulverization by the boss .

The base game of elden ring, the opening is just still images!
When niche hobbies ( or in this case a niche game genre ) becomes more popular and mainstream it gets ruined.
The direction they're going is clear, it was clear since dark souls 3. The future is anime.
@@TyphonNeuronthey are a japanese company btw
Speaking facts
@@InkyMuste I'd actually make the argument that the AI has gotten worse in some regards, largely owing to the increased aggression. Bosses frequently spin on their heels and snap to entirely new targets on a whim. They also frequently get stuck in animation loops (usually pursuit or gap closing attacks) when you attempt to gain a little space.
That ending statement about players not helping each other anymore was so true 😢
the days of jolly co-op are sorely missed. i think bringing back covenants could have helped with that. an incentive to join in on that mechanic in the game used to be there. it's gone in Elden Ring.
You can get rune arcs elsewhere.
its impossible to help people with co-op because when you summon people in, they're absolute dogshit that expect to be carried (players like synth). they die instantly and then thats it.
that's why death stranding was not completely average
@@TaddiestMasonbut the days of jolly cooperation are still here. Don't let the online crowd fool you. Summoning is a huge aspect, and many people use it.

@@Lakata125in what sense ? Elden ring doesn't take you by the hand like Horizon
Perfectly put.
Compare Radahn to Gael. The difference is palpable. Quality has gone downhill.
More proof that the average player is shit? I love getting summoned for levels but 9/10 times the host dies in the boss almost immediately.
Now this is a rant to frame on the wall.
Unless your character isn't optimized or the host has
Elden Ring is a comedy
These games are only as hard as you make them, theres so many options you can use to make this game easy.

So, any of the problems in the DLC are addressed, so thanks for bringing this up, Synthetic Man.
Bro same. I love the Carian sword but it's just so shit compared to just putting bleed on your weapons.
I always felt like this dlc was parodying what people thought dark souls was like
This is a perfect description lmao
Bayle and the final boss surely are
I also think Dark Souls 2 actually parodied what people thought Demon's Souls and DS1 were originally like way back in 2014, because DS2 was overwhelmingly cheap and unfair with every single mechanic, feature and design choice.
Uhh, sir this is Elden Ring, not Dark Souls.

Synth is seriously the only reviewer I can expect an honest opinion out of these days. Whether I agree or not (which I usually do).

There’s plenty of valid factual and objective critiques of the DLC people could be making, people wasting time complaining that hard game continues to be hard isn’t one of them, I'm honestly worried this is going to mark the downward spiral of Fromsoft if base game Elden Ring hadn't already.
Now that I think about it, I actually do miss DS1's combat philosophy. While I don't mind the aggressive combat philosophy they have going, what made DS1's combat unique was that it rewarded patience. Since Bloodborne, all the games have been about aggression.

But the ability for a company that is selling a luxury item that is also a piece of art (vidya game) to take chances is well appreciated.
I think a lot of people are disappointed in terms of the DLC because FromSoft didn't take much in the way of chances, if any:
- lore is just nonsense (of the stupid, non-forshadowed kind)
- extra weapons, spells are cool but like base ER, many seem useless, niche, or PvP only
- empty areas, bosses & regular enemies with more animu flashy attacks that are hard to do anything about
- reused assets
- empty areas & mindless drops (a problem in some areas in base ER, also legacy dungeons with boss drops have little rhyme or reason usually)
- overall poor execution
It would have been pretty cool of them to update the base game with SOME of the DLC weapons for free, somehow.
Basically I'm looking for a grown up Zelda, and FS are the closest to making it.

No souls game has a good camera but holy cow is ER’s awful
Hey darran, good to see you're on the Synthetic Side.
It personally irks me how many poor game designs still exist in ER which is supposed to be a modern AAA game.
Exactly, same here.
@@luciano1240 Come on man, Elden Ring is a high fantasy setting full of eldritch magic, divine spells, outer gods with unimaginable powers, and we have canonically Miquella who made several attempts at ressurecting Godwyn, as well as his knights, so no, it would be VERY easy to justify a Godwyn ressurection and Miquella himself in the base game thought that it was doable. In a setting like Elden Ring you can basically justify anything through divine / magic / cosmic shenanigan.

Tried playing the DLC with my 2 end game 150+ builds. Insane difficulty spike even with buffs. 60% damage negation, 60 vigor & most random enemies would 3 shot me, Messier would 1 shot me.

I was like that when I was a teenager. I still hate hipster music, though. Good comment. 👍

If i have to keep using larval tears to attune my stats to beat a certain boss, or to have any sense of enjoyment out of it, with the bare minimum, then someting is clearly wrong in the design department
In prior games, i could beat the games with just the bare minimum, without having to pull my hairs out.
Bro paragraphs

I wonder how many people are gonna go straight to dislike and negative comment before even listening to the arguments in the video.
Prob 70% of normies
A huge portion will probably stop at the woke rant bit, which is a shame cause Synth brings out his best points at the very end.
Miyazaki inspiring in Berserk is overrated
Like on this point he can make a 1:1 Berserk adaptation and would be better than the lore of this "Elden DarkSouls-Bloodborne" (even DS and Blood are very cool and unique in the story and world)
Has no unique story except maybe the family of gods and the "other gods" but the lack of lore makes a shitty fanmade story
The inspiration is superficial at best. Much like these games "story" and "lore".
@@noway6633 yes superficial in the Dark Souls and bloodborne, you have Ludwin or some Demon design
BUT THIS GAME COPY ALL BERSERK ALL Miquella is just Griffith with incest, Rykard is straight from BERSERK without a good explanation, the world has a lot of animal-humans and the Lore is ALMOST almost Dark Souls with the dragons being the kings of humanity and the "Grace" being a TP without reason in this world
Thats why im mad because Sekiro and Bloodborne are more original and this Game is just LAZY could be a Dark souls 4 smash with Bloodborne and changes nothing
@@Morfe02fym rykard doesn't have an explanation
@@Morfe02 You mention Griffith which is valid, but then you mention Rykard? What? You could only think of one point the game took from berserk. At least do your research if you're gonna have a meltdown.
This is the first “souls” dlc that I don’t feel like replaying, at all. Elden mid really destroyed the genre itself, and they sold 50 billlion copies, so no chance of another fromsoft banger ever again. It’s so over.
I bet u replay in 3 months lol
@@geert574 FromSoft isn"t just going to copy Elden Ring again for their next game(s). The next one will likely be very different.
He has trans deragement syndrome, plays with summons and buys the games that he claims to hate. He’s still right about this dlc being very overrated tho.
It’s the greatest game of all time and clears every other Souls game combined. Thank god it sold well because this is exactly the direction the genre needs to pursue in the future

_What did Fromsoft mean by this???_ *Was this a shower PSA?*
@@KingOfhearts72 It's mind-boggling to me that people see someone come up with a smart strategy and say "cheese! cheese! cheese!"
It's not cheese it's STRATEGY ffs
@@sssssssssss8238 I could beat them all on the first try if I just used mimic tear but I am too bad and refuse to use it because I am bad at the game
You can always count on Synth for genuine non-shill perspectives.
Scadutree Fragments are entirely redundant and the DLC can be balanced in a trillion other factors, it's funny as hell.
@@broccolin I agree that it’s funny. It’s absolutely absurd to me that they didn’t think far enough ahead to see how they affect the SECOND playthrough?!?!? Game is ran by and for shitters…..
At least you don't have to gather them all in ng+
Is that not the same with golden seeds and sacred tears?
Are you talking about the greatest revolocionary modern horizon of the "le creame du le creame" game changer of the present, past and future of the open worlds of the worlds wide universe of all time? 😢😅😂
i sincerely hope from software sticks to the "no making sequels" mentality after this, even if its a big success and publisher will prolly beg for it, maybe at least they can get away with making it not as open world? it just seems like being open world was this game's biggest mistake, completely incompatible with the quest design imo.
The quest design absolutely does not work for a From open world game. You basically need a wiki to figure out what to do for a lot of the side ones.
FS questing was always shit. It's just even worse in an open world.
@@gldntchr7122 the locations of some npcs is actually bonkers at times for er, legit in the middle of nowere, i could understand them making a sound like alexander or generally grouping close to important roads in the map but for many locations they just hang out in this supposedly really important spot that i would totally find on my own cough cough millicent cough
Elden Ring fans are literally THE tourists. Their game is the most normie Souls game ever made.
This. Sums up why I can’t enjoy it as much as bloodborne or sekiro. It’s normie as hell
Oh my science, how could you not like empty open world??
They just don't want to admit what they played wasn't a masterpiece it was dark souls 3.5 with a horse and a empty world.
@@H0mework It's just Ubislop with a Soulslike skin.
@@KingOfhearts72 Bloodborne was so much better than Elden Ring that it makes me want to cry
Sekiro was good though.
@arkworthy8594 Sekiro was the only entry I'd consider to not be a Souls-like game. It was more of a stealth action-adventure game with none of the limitations and RPG restrictions of all the other entries.
How do you make boss harder then ?
@@waiz0231 Why do you need to make bosses harder at all? Why not just make them good?
Dark souls elitists are just playing a rhythm game with extra steps.
As a working class dark souls2 player, I believe that osu is truly just a simplified version of Elden ring 2
Every souls game has been a rhythm game though 😭
