Yeah, I’ve really been thinking about picking up the mini Adira
Great video, crispy as always!
Thanks man, was gonna go with full size but now def the mini!
Just received the mini today so far so good.
It’s a keeper!
Would you get the adira or adamas
The Large Adira is on my need to acquire list. Hoping someone like Original Goat will be making scales for them, either way NEED!
This whole "these are for use around the water" thing has gotten out of hand already. Sounds like an Ad. Corrosion resistant steel, that's all. These are nice for sure but nothing different here than say the Deka or other magnacut/grivory knives. Congrats BM for finally getting on the MagnaCut train. If I see another video that says these knives are great when I'm boating or on the water!...
I’m seriously thinking about getting one of these for my summer time edc…..I do a lot of outdoor stuff here in Cali,Mostly hiking and spending a lot time at different beaches👍🏻🙂Also have to make the choice of full size or mini.
I think that one of those would be a perfect summer knife for me. I live in an extremely humid state, and my second job is around water a lot. I think they’d be a great fit for my edc
You should get a Spyderco manix 2 salt when they are available. But do your thing
I thought about that, but I really like this version. I think Spyderco would do a better heat treatment on it, but I really like the look of this one.
@@YPEDCI respect that. Do what makes you happy
Have you ever been to smoky mountain knife works?
Been thinking about getting this at blade show this year but am leaning towards spyderco salt. I can’t decide lol
There’s a dude on YT that tested them. All of the internals on the benchmade are not rustproof, if you are doing light use around a lake or something it should be fine. The Spyderco had zero rust on any component. Spyderco did tons or R&D to make sure every component was rust free. If your around the ocean id go Spyderco. If your taking it in salt water get the lc200N
The blade reminds of the Benchmade Turret
I got the Adira, and maybe the mini is different, but the grivory on Adira is solid. Not flexy or cheap feeling at all. I usually prefer G10 but here the grivory is better,
Honestly just go with Spyderco’s salt series. LC200N or MagnaCut for a better price on a better quality knife.
Agreed
Spyderco salt PM2 is $236 and the mini Adira (similar blade length) is $230 🤔
@@Joe-om8rrthere’s the native, para 3 lw, and the series with endura and endela. Lots of better options. And even then, you’re getting better quality with a little bit more for the PM2 in magnacut and G10 handles. Everyone knows Spyderco’s heat treatment is better than Benchmades too.
@@westondavis9626 well if everyone knows…
Plus no worries for breaking omega springs.. got the manix 2 salt magnacut and believe me it’s great.
Spyderco salt series > benchmade whatever thing
My Spyderco Salt 2 is trash
@@BC08 you could explain……
@@Mike-mi3yw It’s a POS?
The model is C88PBBK2 and I’ve had it for a couple years
Action is utterly atrocious, almost like an old Case.
I have attempted to tune it out with zero success
Blade doesn’t hold a edge for shit (H1)
Lockback is just not ideal for fishing situations where I often need to close the knife when I have either bait, fish, line or hook, in the other hand.
It works one handed sure but is 💩 compared to any Axis lock for quick, thoughtless one-handed use
It’s in good shape, never left with salt water on it overnight.
Still Looks new as it’s only been used on the boat and never daily carried (because it sucks)… I’ll sell it to you so I can get an Adira to replace it
@@BC08 oh I would never buy that knife. H1 steel is the most corrosion resistant steel but it will never hold an edge. It’s useless without serrations, which most people don’t want.
Any of the us made salt
Versions sound like they would be more up your alley. I like the Japanese folders but a mid back lock isint for everyone.
@@Mike-mi3yw The only one that appeals to me is the Manix 2 Salt in Magnacut.
And I think I’d still take an Adira over it without a second thought
❤❤
Benchmade has gotten out of hand with their pricing. No thanks
Hogue Deka , Hogue Ritter RSK and Spyderco salt in M/C steel are all better knives IMO and less money to boot.
Benchmade is like if Chick Fil A decided to start selling their sandwiches for $100 a piece. Good but nah, I’ll go to Chipotle.
😂
Nah, Benchmade is more like Apple or Toyota than anything.
There is definitely a brand upcharge - you pay a lot upfront for the product (comparatively) but you DO benefit from intangibles.
- Incredibly strong resell market, it’s easy to sell Benchmade you decide you don’t need or don’t really like
- Low depreciation compared to other production brands
- Incredibly strong aftermarket
- Excellent customer support/warranty
- Excellent dealer network
Benchmade has become popular to hate among the knife-geek crowd but I find many of the complaints often don’t take the full picture into account thus leaving the “haters” pretty toothless at this point
Bought the knife. Right out of the box there is side to side blade play. Tightening the screw fixes it but can open and close it that smooth like in the video after tightening enough to get rid of the play. Not worth the price.
🤷♂️ It’s a bronze/phos washer knife.
So whoever assembled left it on the loose side.
Snug of the pivot screw so there is no side to side play then use the knife for a couple weeks, repeat.
Once it’s fully broken-in apply Loctite 290 (green medium strength, designed specifically for set screws) to the pivot screw and tighten to the point where side-to-side play eliminated and there is slight drag to the blade closing.
Do NOT tune for free falling action at this point
Allow the Loctite to cure 20-30 min min before fidgeting
Once again in a week or two the blade action will loosen but it will more stable this time as the washers and liners have worn together.
Now apply a lubricant like Benchmade Bluelube (or comparable) to the washers and enjoy glassy, fast action
ALL cross-bar knives on washers will go through this to a degree.
This really isn’t a Benchmade quality issue
If out of the box action with zero side-to-side play is your criteria for “worth the price” never buy a knife on washers.
Never
All bronze/phos washer knives go through this, from Chris Reeves, to Spyderco, to Benchmade.
Chris Reeves and Spyderco ALSO don’t develop that glassy smooth, fast action that people associate with them out of the box.
That generally comes with age and use
That's benchmade 101. You'll figure it out.
What. No serrations!!!
The knife feels so cheap in the hand. Also the designs inside fold isn't smooth so it'll catch debris and fish guts. Other than that it's fantastic.
Time for a swim
Nope i don't want it because it doesn't come in there Pouch i like the pouch that benchmade knives
1st
You were second actually lol
I can provide you with excellent quality bags and knife
Trash get a Spyderco salt series.
