I had the chance to drive a 1st gen SRT10 way back in the day. It was a truly scary truck to drive. What everyone complained about at the time was the school bus 6 speed shifter. Long and oddly angled, you had too much leverage for speed shifting, and the trans would often times get stuck in 2nd or 3rd. 1 thing of note. Yes the bed could haul things. No, you were not supposed to tow w it. Mileage? Well, this was not your 2.2l S10 to be sure!
Ya my dad had a Ford 250 with a 460 . It would pull from a stop it fourth gear and haul two and half pallets of twelve inch block . It was a monster sure do miss it😔
Yeah I don't want to drive all the way out to the Mason Dixon strip to shake down my 67 charger... Someone just needs to buy it and open to the public.
Pretty sure those tires aren't 215s.. lol. I put exhaust on one of these trucks at work maybe a year ago. It was otherwise stock. I wasn't impressed by the power. But it was definitely cool to row a T56 in a truck lol
15 to 20k depending on the mileage. If it has stupid low miles I’ve seen them listed for 30k. When I bought mine in 2014 I paid 22k for it. It had 50k miles. They are hard to find stock and not beat to shit.
Near 200K miles on mine and it's still scary. For the shifter, look for X-Metal Engineering. They did a short run of patented shifters around 2007 which fixed the 2nd to 3rd issue. (^_^)y
I thought the SRT 10's had Brembo brakes, similar to other SRTs... Maybe the later years? This was a precursor to the SRT Chargers/Challengers tho. Still can't believe you can get one of these in a Quadcab/Automatic combo as well.
Robert Snyder during the time these trucks were being made brembo’s were only being put on the best of the best. They were still aftermarket mostly like wilwood brakes. By about 08 and later car manufacturers started putting brembo’s on EVERYTHING. These trucks did not come with brembo’s but the 05 and 06 did get some race developed brakes by TRW who designed brakes for nascar. The fronts were massive 4 pistons with huge rotors. The rears were 2 pistons. They are still the biggest brakes to be put on a 1/2 ton truck stock. The rears were so big that you couldn’t run a smaller wheel/slick combination with out either shaving the caliper or removing them. These trucks also had massive brake ducts in the front that routed cold air directly to brakes. A lot of people don’t know that.
If you have one of these or get one of these trucks you need to remove the cats and change the muffler. Also add a performance chip and then you got a real performer.

RANDBO for the RC it wasn’t recommended by dodge but owners have put hitched on them and towed up to 6000 lbs with no problems. If you know how to drive a manual while towing you can do it but most would burn up the clutch so it isn’t recommended. When I bought mine it had a tow hitch in it. Based on the size of the hitch I’m assuming the previous owner towed bikes.
If you know how to drive the Ram Srt10 and its launch capabilities, it can actually be up there with the hellcats. The power of the vehicle is only as good as the driver.
