"I'm not really sure I should be listening to A PARROT!"
Jareds obviously never played Phoenix Wright.
True
Don't forget DL-6! *sqwuak*
Polly, right?
They couldn't steal the entire ceiling to the Sistine Chapel?
The koopas in Mario is Missing did it just fine.
+Nitrometutorials samsa
+Alden martin *samsaaaoan
Imagine trying to fence something like that. There's gonna be a lot of heat on the Sistine Chapel.
Nitrometutorials Lol...come to think of it..where in the world is carmen Sandiego is mario is missing..but more better and not mario.
lol
*I'M READY TO LEARN, BITCH!*
I wonder if I would get suspended if I yelled that out loud in class.
Do it! :D
Edit: And put sunglasses while saying it!
I literally think that when ever I enter the best class: Social Studies.
Same. I love Social Studies
I'm stayin in school... *puts on sunglasses* and I'm being cool ;)
+Jacob Willis YEAH
Didn't you play the Ace Attorney games? Always grill the parrot for clues. Always.
Liked for Shitabella
+N00BSYBORG Mmmmmm.... Parrot...
PorkyTheKing "Shitabella"
Now where did I put my duel slapping glove?
_Shitabella's a nice name._
_Shitabella's got nothin' on the great Beowulf, however._

Oh hey n00b lol
That disappointed "Oh..." Gets me every time. XD
We were so busy we never thought to ask: why in the world is Carmen San Diego.
Michael Bush Yeah, why is she IN the world, instead of being on it like a normal person?
Why do you ask "where?" when the delicious question is "when?"
Actually, Broderbund did release a DOS game called "Where In Time Is Carmen San Diego?". It was intended to teach history in much the same way that WITWICSD was intended to teach geography. It also had the same sort of copyright protection.
well you see, when a Mommy SanDiego and a Daddy SanDiego love each other veeeeery much...
HOW in the world is Carmen San Diego?
I hear that Asagao music!
Hey PBG!
TeanupRuttebRameg?!
PBG SENPAI!
Ayyyy pooboogoo!!!
Well he has been playing it for a while
Wanted to quick say thanks for everyone's patience with this video! I'll be getting back to a regular upload schedule as soon as I'm done moving to California!
No problem man! And I just wanted to let you know, your videos always make me happy. They have gotten me out of some really dark times in my life. Thanks man!
+ProJared You have improved over the years. Your latest videos were awesome. Your April Fools and Ride to Hell specifically were hysterical. Looking forward to your new videos!
I agree with the NerdLord. Your videos are awesome and bring back great memories. Good luck with the move.
I look forward to your new vids!
Also, I played the newer PC version as a kid...
+ProJared Good to know your dancing skills would came in handy in this video.
I'm your biggest fan and I'm from Kigali.
But are you though
No he isn't. He's from South Carolina.
Hey, Phoenix Wright could get useful information out of that parrot.
No we never speak of that
I swear you cross examine a bird multiple times in the Phoenix wright series

After the decline of Carmen's career, she went looking for jobs in the most lucrative job of all: Minor cameos in shitty Math textbooks.
She stole the cameos from someone else. I guarantee it.
I was more of a Wishbone person myself.
lol
+That One Video Gamer What always bugged me in the last 20 years was what is she wearing under that jacket, I would guess either a red mini dress or a skirt suit. Or she could be naked for all I know
+That One Video Gamer You could do the Wishbone game from like 20 years ago. Wishbone And The Amazing Odyssey
+Justin Gochioco I wondered. Hope it's a red mini dress
+Justin Gochioco She probably just figured a utility belt would be too tacky, so she went with a trench coat with a million pockets instead.
Idk, man. Phoenix Wright got some pretty good info out of a parrot.
Tru
+TheFlamingBeast98 yah
He knows nothing.
And an orca. AND another parrot! Phoenix Wright: Ace Animal Interrogator
Shhhh. We don't speak of that.
Had the CD version of _Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?_ as kid. Apart from numerous graphical differences, there were some gameplay changes a well. No questions about flag colours that I remember, more suspects, a reduced number of suspect traits so that all of them actually get used, and an actual difficulty curve, with clues that definitely get harder as time goes by and your rank increases.
SHE HAS A GREAT FONDNESS FOR TACOS.
Who doesn't?
+DiggidyDelRio I detect she is a lesbian.
+DiggidyDelRio ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Hard shelled I hope. I've never tried tacos with soft tortillas. And what's with the lenny faces? They really seem out of place for a discussion about mexican food.
Cody Hines Hard shelled tacos are an abomination. Eat soft tacos if you want to eat real tacos.
Love the use of the Asagao Academy soundtrack
J-Jared...
+Courtney (ProjectSNT) He played it on his gaming channel as you already know, hope it gets more attention in time because it is a quirky and entertaining game for what it is.
Sanic Fast Oh yeah I agree. I've already gone through Jared, PBG, and Jon's routes! In fact, I backed the game's Kickstarter when it was going on!
+Courtney (ProjectSNT) I'm like obsessed with the game, it's so good

Zogger568 well there’s a Netflix show
And even though she's the antagonist, you have to help her get away in the end because reasons.
@@JoshuaRWorkman No, hear me out, you PLAY AS HER. It can maybe played more like a sci-fi/urban/modern version of thief and/or dishonored.
@@SMG-vx3mu I like it. And at the end, the detective investigating the case the entire game has some revelation and decides to help her escape with her gains from her last big heist.
Honestly that'd be sick
Jared doing that dance was hands down the best thing that happened to me this week.
+Busterdrag Between the sprite and him doing that dance, it made me think of Coach Z from Homestar Runner for some reason. lol
Fun fact about Carmen Sandiego in the cartoon: she was voiced by the famous Rita Moreno, a *very* decorated actress whom has won a Tony, an Oscar, an Emmy *and* a Grammy--as well as a Presidential Medal of Freedom.
She was also on The Electric Company back in the '70s.
She’s the one who said “Hey you guys!”
That bandit dance cracks me up! Glad you're back, Jared
I love your pfp
"I don't know sh*t about geography."
This is gonna be a good one...
Good job, PrJerd

S, gd jb ndd.
The main reason why I'm such a fan of the Carmen San Diego games is because of the remakes these games got for PC. Both Where in the World and Where in Time got AMAZING remakes from the Learning Company in the late 90's early 2000's and I think THOSE successors are the reason why so many people love the crap out of Carmen.

What is it with geography games and people stealing the roof of the Sistine chapel
"Sexy reverse batman." so... uh... catwoman?
Catwoman crosses over into hero territory, and isn't iconic for gadgets like Batman is. Other than that it would be a pretty good comparison.
@@b.ashley9222 so.... Thieving Batgirl? Is that an apt comparison?
+@@blinkachu05 Sure
nobody ever talks about the better game, Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego. :c

I loved that game as a kid. I can't remember how many times I beat it, but I'd always borrow it from my local library every few months to play it.
Where in time was my jam when I was younger. Never beat it thanks to the corn counting part, but oh well
so after this I 100% expect to see jared and his wife as waldo and carmen sandiego at some point.
Stole the roof of the sistine chapel? That sound familiar... I wonder.... You should ask people if any turtles have been spotted lately.

What was it with edutainment games and someone stealing the roof of the Sistine Chapel?

this just made me watch the 90's where in time is carmen sandiego. The engineer crew have so much energy it makes me realize why I was so addicted to it
I really miss the old intro where Jared says, "I'm playing (insert game here)." and it shows some footage of the game.
yeah
it was unique wasn't it?
good times
I miss it too.
+K-16 I miss it because it gives a preview of the entire review. In those few seconds, Jared explains exactly what we're getting into by summarizing the tone and theme of the review, and that summary itself is designed as a joke to entertain us before the review even starts.
Well thought out and executed. It makes me sad to see that removed in favor of better pacing. That and abridging the intro. I actually prefer the full intro because it shows the entire "culture" ProJared is in. That and it's nice hearing more of FantomenK's music.
4:50 made me laugh my ass off. the build up was amazing.
I swear someone in Mario in Missing stole the chapel's ceiling.
I know it's kind-of weird but I really enjoyed the assortment of different background songs during the video. :)

I still have all of my MS-DOS "Carmen Sandiego" games! "Where in Space is Carmen Sandiego" was my favorite. I remember when the TV show held "auditions" at my local mall. I...didn't get selected.
Rockapella did a Folger's jingle and a killer version of "Zombie Jamboree."
I'm a bit late to the party here, but great video, Jared.
The entire ceiling of the Sistine Chapel? Where's PBG's Luigi when you need them?
I used to have Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego for the PC as a kid. Sadly, the game got lost to time and I kinda wish I still had it.

OMG That game show is still my favorite one. As a kid at school we played the USA version. Yeah Apple Computers had just become a thing and I remember being in the 2nd grade (1989) we had one day a week for Computer Class. We did play a bunch of Educational games and my fav was the Carmen Sandiego. It's really the franchise that got me interested into the Mystery Genre.
Fun Fact: Ivy is voiced by Commander Shephard. Zack is voiced by Robin from Teen Titans.
Come on Jared, you make me feel old. The game was popular because PC games at school were slim pickings back then. It was usually this, Number Munchers, or Oregon Trail.
The game show and cartoon didn't come until way later.
Lol now that there's Pokemon, no one's trying to catch Carmen anymore.
Unless she's a pokemon...carmender???
I'd love to see a Gym Leader based on Carmen. Or hell, a top-tier member of Team Rocket/Whoever the fuck they are this next game.

True true
I had one friend whose house i went to exclusively to play lemmings and another for theme park
Hearing that Rockapella still performs the Carmen Sandiego theme to this day rocked my world. Some get real tired of their old hits or come to resent their old famous themes or characters, but hearing these guys still rock that song is very heart warming lol Always a place for remembering early hits and always a crowd for nostalgia
Carmen Sandiego was HUGE during my days at elementary school in the 90's. During select days of the week, we would have IBM computer classes where we had to use a program to solve math problems. Those that finished early could play games on it, most commonly Carmen Sandiego. One kid in particular -- who the class regarded as a genius -- was very good at the game. One day he was about to arrest Carmen Sandiego, and another classmate yelled for everyone to come over to watch. I remember literally the entire class got up out of their seats. Unfortunately, he didn't catch her, but it was fun to witness! We seriously thought history was being made if we were to catch her!
I became pretty competent at catching rookie criminals, but the final almanac question always tripped me up. Unfortunately, there was no Internet in the early 90's, and almanacs back in the days were NOT cheap, and they still aren't today (if you can find them!). I tried to convince my mom to buy me one so I could play Carmen Sandiego, and she did, but it was a children's almanac with limited information. Nonetheless, it did help me solve one question, which was enough to promote me from rookie!
Yea, those were some dark days...
I heard that music from Asagao Academy. You sneaky bastard.
+k12314 All I see are the sparkles.
Kevin Phan I'm distracted by his beautiful hairstyle and perfectly sculpted face.
Why did all these types of crook and mystery solving games love the idea of a crook stealing the Sistine Chappell ceiling? First Mario is missing, now Karman Sandiego on DOS
Your mother :)
This has such a great theme.
Where in the world is
*Carmen Sandiego*
I miss your reviews Jared but I don't blame you for doing more let's plays. Way less work and more consistent content is put up but I always prefer quality over quantity which is why I follow this channel.
Carmen wasn't just cool, sophisticated and badass, she was also pretty honourable, on several occasions when the kids got in mortal danger, she rescued them, not wanting anyone to die while she played her game
So, she’s pretty much a female anti-hero.
So the game came first and they were incredibly popular, especially with schools. It was this popularity that got them to make the show, which was licensed to PBS for Free as it basically worked as free advertising for the games. The show blew up big which made the games blow up big and what pushed for the Cartoon and the other games like "Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego" and "Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego" which also had its own show for a time.
So THAT'S where the smooth criminal animation on the streams is from XD

The worst part about history games like that is, eventually they become nearly impossible because of revisions to our understanding of history (or because the countries featured have changed flags, ceased to exist, or otherwise undergone radical changes). Unless you have the outdated almanac for the year the game came out, you'll probably get stuck at some point because it wants a "fact" that has since ceased to be accurate.
you need to level up your google-fu, jared. instead of wikipedia, try gamefaqs, for instance.
"when people talk about strong female characters, why don't they bring up Carmen San Diego?". Cause she's a bad guy.
I remember playing the windows version of this game, and the closer you got to tracking down Carmen Sandiego, the slightly harder it would become. As a kid, I remember it being pretty forgiving when you first started, but mess up even a few times trying to find Carmen, and you'd have to start over tracking down someone else. She was slippery man.
I love all the Asagao references, including the use of the soundtrack!
10:43 I didn't know Hana was a gumshoe.
Then again, she does seem good at redheads...
I had "Where In The USA Is Carmen Sandiego?" as a kid. It's the same formula, but I remember it getting at least a bit harder as you were promoted, with the clues starting easy and gradually getting more obscure and dependent on the state fact book. The version I played was the 1992 CD-ROM release, which also had Carmen in her proper appearance/outfit! (The original 1986 release was a lot more like this one.)
I got curious and looked it up - turns out Carmen's first appearance with the red coat and hat was in the original version of "Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego?" in 1989.
I personally think the reason why people still know Carmen Sandiego is because of that kickass theme ture!!!!!
