i dont think u r recognised local Malaysia or foreigners bcos we Asian mostly quite similar ..but Local people know either They are Indonesians,Thais,Chinese China or Bangladeshi Nepali Indian India..mostly they are Asian tourists or foreigners working in Malaysia hanging around the KLCC park..Local people hanging around at Mamak Restaurant ...just to remind u ..they are 2 million foreign workers in Malaysia plus the refugees almost 400 thousand....so quite difficult for u to recognise Malaysians or foreigners(asian) only We, Malaysians know it..

Hey Chris, This is Mike. A canadian staying in malaysia for more than 10 years now. Anyways, just to clarify, the other old man that came by to the sugarcane stand, what he meant was he didn't LIE to you not that he didn't like you. his english wasn't that good.. he said " I don't Lie you "

Thanks for clarifying Mike. I hope Chris sees your comment. I'm Malaysian and was taken aback when I thought he said "I didn't like you", because it's sort of out of character for a Malaysian to say something like that to a visitor. When Chris asked him "Why", I think the man said something like, "it's not good to lie", confusing the whole situation even further!😄 Bless you, Chris, for your generosity. I hope it comes back to you ten-fold!

p.s. If u are sleeping with the AC on at ur apartment here, place a glass of water just below the AC unit to keep the air in the room humid. It would help to prevent the dry AC air from drying your throat, which will lead to the lost of voice :)

I think what that uncle meant is, in the month of Ramadan, sugarcane water will get more sales during breaking the fast every evening. because Malaysians really like to break their fast with it. eating and drinking businesses can be open in the evening and night, and usually full of customers. they can also sell in the Ramadan Bazaar. chris, make sure to bring solo to ramadan bazaar, and you know what i mean. no slow business, but open more other ways of business.

I just watched your video with Kong. I’m a Malaysian living in Florida now. It was heartwarming to see you in Malaysia. You move around with the locals with such ease & kindly. You are humorous & warm. I like your videos.
One thing you gotta understand with the locals, is their accents. The so-called drunk guy at the stall, was trying to tell you ‘ I don’t lie to you’ or ‘ why I want to lie others’ about something when he pulled out his local id. You mistook what he said & thought he said ‘I don’t like you’.
Also when you say ‘ I invite you’ when you want to buy a drink/food for the locals, the people get confused. Normally when you invite someone, it’s normally to the home. Because what you actually mean is, ‘ I want to buy you a drink or I would like to pay for your food’.
You might mistake their accent & some of the locals may not be able to string grammatically correct sentences. Hence, there’s a confusion.
It’s a treat watching your adventures. Good luck on your travels.

May Allah bless you to the righteous path brother. You give to people, you'll be blessed with more. Would be awesome that you visit Ramadan bazaars soon. Plenty of delicious food you've never seen or heard of and you are welcomed to visit mosques to dine in for iftar, for the experience. I would recommend Wilayah Persekutuan Mosque, it's a tourist attraction because of how beautiful the place is.

So, its me again. A small info: Petaling Street or China Town is predominantly occupied by Bangladeshi community. If you go straight opposite to the Petaling Street entrance, you will find Bangladeshi food like Pitha, Puri, Beef Bhuna, Kala Bhuna, Kacchi Biryani. And its super cheap and amazing food. Its like a un-labled Little Bangladesh (Like Little India)

Hey Chris, Awesome video and generosity.
Just to clarify the old man statement when he showed you the ID, he intended to say “I Not Lie you”.
When you asked him if he Malay.
    It’s a language barrier.
Took 10 months to clarify this. 😅

"I invite you" is confusing. Its not commonly said here. If you wish to say you want to pay for it: Say in local "I belanja". Or "I pay for you".. Less confusing for others.

I think you are aware that Malaysia is a multiracial multi religion society plus the fact that there are many foreigners around. So asking any random person about Ramadan don't exactly add up coz obviously only Muslims would know best.
