- Chances are, if you were just getting into comics in the 80's and early 90's, Wolverine was probably wearing the iconic brown costume the first time you saw him. Since the early 90's; however, this costume has been gone...but, certainly not forgotten, as still today it remains a favourite for many fans! XM Studios has now immortalized this important era for Wolverine with this newly released statue...but, can it live up to the fond memories?

Another fantastic review! Side note, the art direction on the statue is based on the 1990s Jim Lee art print “A Bad Night for Ninjas”. I have it framed and displayed behind statue and it’s perfection. 🤓

Excellent review! I just received the Sideshow Wolverine PF and I love it, but this is also fantastic...great detailed and relevant base for Wolvie, and I love all the switchout options XM provides.
The PF is also very nice...I was able to review a friend's a while back. If this brown one didn't exist, that would be my next choice.

Oh man, I've been eagerly awaiting this one!! I'm a brown suit loving child of the 80's as well, and this is the definitive Wolverine to me. Can't wait to get my greedy little mitts on him!! Do you think he will fit in a besta display (14"D x 22"W)? XM lists his depth at 26", which I find hard to believe. Thanks for this, and all the other great reviews Bmutha! In my opinion, you're the best at it.

The base by itself is about 14.5" front to back, and Wolverine overhangs the front end by a bit. So, you'd have to angle it, and likely use the forward facing arms...you'll have to experiment.
The 26" dimension is likely the width when he's holding the swords (that's pretty much exactly what I measured).

thame odyssy I never said the were real metal - we are all aware they’re not real metal.
I prefer the metal claws on this statue and when I refer to metal claws I’m not signifying the material- I’m only trying to distinguish them over the swap out bone claws.
And alternatively- when someone says bone claws - that doesn’t mean they actually think those claws are made of real bone.
That belt tip sticks out but everything else is solid
There are few characters I want as a statue but Wolverine claws its way into my list but with so many of him available I've yet seen one that is a must have. Usually always one thing about each I'm not that into. Ths one is base and portait. Sideshows is pretty good but will still probably wait see if a better Wolverine comes out.

Its a brilliant look. Now one of the best around. Saw this at a UK comic con and it was a "you needed to pause and look at the detail" type of statue.

Hi great review! This will be my first 1/4 scale statue and I am excited to get, I have a question for you , Since the edition size for this is 650, is that considered low for a statue like this? Will that make it hold up its value?
It is actually very low for a Wolverine statue. Consider that the recent Sideshow yellow costume statue had 2,500 EX and 4,000 REG edition size...10x as many! As far as value, the low edition size definitely does not hurt. The market is difficult to predict, but I believe this one will at least hang around it's retail price, if not up a bit.
I love it, but is there some ugly seam on the head switch out? Particularly visible on the masked portrait?
There is definitely a seam there. It's not noticeable from the front, and not too bad from the sides...you'll see it at the back the most. XM did add the brown strip along the base of his skull, just like in the comics, so that helps hide the seam better than the original prototype did.

What’s the back to front dimensions of the base only! Per your video, I purchased XM Lizard and hopefully the XM Brown Wolverine but need that measurement for the shelf! Great videos! Subscribed and watch tons!

I would have to agree...I have seen a few, and this is my favourite.
Wolverine sideshow I feel is the best one but this one is def up there 2nd on my list

Marco Ilao I feel you but I guess costumes is a matter of opinion of what you like which I totally respect. Both costumes are def epic but. Even though price is better is bette on sideshow I don’t mean just price the texture and the realism of the figurine and expressions is very high quality and that wolverine feels like it coming to life and about to attack and texture of costume is very realistic. But doesn’t take away from XM but I prefer the yellow costume over the brown and I do love the texture of costume more on sideshow. But again just my opinion
Nestor Martinez I’m not saying your wrong either, I have both statues and I love them. I think what might have tipped this XM over the edge for me is because of the size (definitely a bit bigger than 1/4 scale), the way how the costume seems like a realistic take, and how it looks to be a stand alone piece. The Sideshow one on the other hand seems to me like it was made to be part of a more dynamic display. Which works well for me as I display it next to the X-23 one.
Think I’ll display with the swords since I have enough wolverines with claws.
If that's your plan, I would recommend not putting them in the base at all, even just to try it out, as the paint on the blade can get scratched.

You delivered a great review of this statue my friend. It really does look awesome in both sculpt and paint. I have it on order myself. Like you, and probably most others, I would have preferred metal claws, but that is something I can forgive since it looks so awesome otherwise. But what does stick in my craw is the brown hair. So far as I know, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but Wolverine was never depicted as having brown hair. Especially during the 80's era. I am curious why you didn't comment on that aspect of him. I've only been in the statue game for about a year now and I have 3 xm pieces on po. They will be my first ones from xm. Mystique is one of the others. They both look beautiful but in my mind between her scaling issues and this misinterpretation on his portrait, they are both flawed pieces. It really makes me pause before I order anymore xm pieces. Their slogan is "a privilege to own", but I can hardly agree so far. I'm not hating I'm just being honest. Again, thanks for the review. Great job.
The hair colour is something I noticed...it definitely looks more brown than black. It is black, but they used brown highlights instead of blue...and went a little overboard with them, too. I guess I was just satisfied they got the eye colour right, lol.

Not a bad Wolverine piece! I don't know why for some reason, companies refuse to use real metal for his claws? I have the SS Brown Costume Wolverine & his aren't real either... Someone has to get that right eventually...🤔
Oh I thought they were metal on that PF. Actually most Wolverine statues do have metal claws (the yellow PF's, XM's previous yellow costume and Weapon X...), so it was a bit surprising that these were not. Oh well, they still look good! Thanks for watching!

Appears there is a lack of body hair on his arms. Logan is supposed to be a hairy dude.
There is hair on the arms, it is sculpted on. They did a good job, but could have brought out the hair a bit better with the paint.
