These guys are really on the ball. Great to see America lead the way on challenging the accepted norm. A really good and informing video. I know what my next radio be now! Thanks for the heads up W&S.

I’m a KX3 owner, it’s great. It’s big brother, the K3, has always spoken for itself so I would expect the K4 to be another level stil. Watching the vid it does have some interesting interfaces and userbility which elevates it again. I would expect this rig to be the one of choice for the serious operators and dxpeditions. Class act. Thanks for showing 👍🏻

Eric speaks well of the product. I am keen to learn how well the K4 does with SSB.

If its like my K3, superb. Elecrafts have high and low Z abilities on their microphone preamp, an phantom power for condensers. You would be hard pressed to find a microphone that won't work on it. Very adjustable.

In what cases would this radio be a better choice than for example, a FTDX10 or FTDX101 with the digital noise reduction?

Good point. They went in depth without even a visual overview. The parts we face are kinda important.

Oh wait, there's a shot at the very end but hard to make out any of the controls.

I'd like to see access to the underlaying os opened up. It would be nice to be able to add new digital modes such as FT8 or even just run my logbook directly on the radio.

I would like to see this too but it seems unlikely: elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/K4-and-Linux-Infrastructure-td7652602.html#a7652678

I don't mind proprietry software when it's built on Windows, but if you're gonna build on GNU/Linux then at least have the decency to leave it open source and hackable. We are techies, engineers, radio guys and nerds and most of us and most of the people in that room have been for decades. We DON'T need protecting from ourselves.

If it's running Linux though Elecraft need to comply with the license just like Cisco were forced to. Hopefully that might open things up for third party stuff. I'd strongly advise Elecraft to be a little more open in terms of software as that's one thing the likes of Icom aren't doing and it's a strong selling point. The Linksys wrt54g is probably the most popular home router to date for this reason even if the EFF had to force Cisco to comply with the GNU license. It certainly didn't do them any harm.

Will the K4 have AGCT (like Flex)? Or will AGC be more like the Icom 6300/7610?
