    If the reading on channel 1 is higher than the reading on channel 40, your antenna system is TOO SHORT and you need to lengthen your antenna.
    Alternatively, if the reading on channel 40 is higher than channel 1, your antenna system is TOO LONG and you need to shorten your antenna system.

    Engine on or off or does it matter?

      From my experience it doesn’t matter. But I’ve always tuned them with engine off.

      @@EmbarkWithMark I tuned one yesterday with engine off and it bugged me all night that I didn't double check with engine on.
      Thanks for the response.

    Can I use only the watt meter to test my tyt mobile radio watts power??? can I use it on any frequency to test the watts on my mobile radio

      @jfrphoto01 Рік тому

      This meter is only for 11 meters (CB) and it doesn't show actual watts out only relative RF out vs SWR. You would need a meter that is an actual watt meter.
      This meter is not for anything but checking your SWR on CB radios, nothing else.

      Not true it is a 10 watt to 100 watt @@jfrphoto01

    You will never ever ever achieve ideal SWR by testing this way. Pick the channel you use the most, set your antenna for as close to 1:1 SWR, and lock it down.

    • @EmbarkWithMark

      Sure, but adjusting for just one channel is rarely ideal.

      @@EmbarkWithMark if you set SWR on channel 20, it will be closer to 1:1 on channel 1 and 40 than if you set the SWR on either of those channels.

    Why is mine pegging out no matter where I place the switch

    • @EmbarkWithMark
      @EmbarkWithMark  Рік тому +1

      If you've followed the directions in setting the meter up, than you most likely have a bad ground. Which could be a bad Coax cable, or your antenna needs to move to a better spot on the vehicle.

      Thank you for the information! I found where I had a connecter under the antenna that wasn't making contact on the positive side. I adjusted my SWR and have no movement on 1 and a little under 1.5 on 40, 19 is around 1. Is this good?
