The radio says antenna warning, because suddenly the radio is having a problem? The antenna warning means you need to check the antenna. The warning keeps you from burning up the output of the radio. But now you adjusted the radio so the warning doesn't work. And you still have an antenna problem......

Never adjust the internals components of a cb unless you know exactly what you are doing. The warning indicator is letting you know that your swr is hi. This can be an issue with your coax, with the antenna, or it may be a bad connection. None of these will require you to open a radio and work on it. Look for videos about adjusting the antenna, and checking the coax.

@truckergal when I bought my Volvo the antenna it had was way to short. I knew for a fact it wasn't a factory antenna. When I plugged 8n my CB i had the same antenna warning. I have the same exact cb. I did what she did in this video and then tuned it, and it worked perfectly. I went ahead later on and bought a new antenna, mount, and copper coax, and redid the whole system. Works like charm.

I owned and operated a radio shop for 20 years plus back in the 80's and 90's at Tiger Truck stop on I-10 in Grosse Tete , La. There is something wrong with your antenna system , 3 things can go wrong , the antenna itself is bad or needs retuning [ SWR ] , the coax or the stud that the antenna screws into.... You cannot set the SWR [ Standing wave ratio ] at the radio itself , you can CHECK the SWR with the built in SWR meter ..... That VR you turned with your knife is just an adjustment meant for a service technician ..... I reopened a small shop in Eunice, La...... Looking for a bigger building with Truck access ....

Bad SWR. If channel 1 is higher than channel 40 lengthen the antenna. If channel 40 is higher than channel 1 shorten the antenna. Swr Should be under 2 ...1.2 would be great. You might have to install your own coax and antenna.. the factory ones Will not work well

The radio is telling you your antenna is messed up. A new antenna will take care of that. Turning screws in the radio will get the radio all out of tune. I have a radio just like yours. It is best to use a SWR meter to check your antenna. To get your radio back in adjustment you will have to take it to the shop. If you keep talking on it you will blow the finals in it.

  • @stepchild3500
    @stepchild3500 9 місяців тому

Just so you know, by doing this all you are doing is adjusting the threshold for the warning light and not fixing the problem. You would do just as well with putting tape over the light. If you are not tuning the antenna system, you are not fixing the problem. Changing the antenna or antennas will not fix the problem. You are just putting on another untuned antenna. Most reputable CB shops will adjust the antenna to a usable SWR. No your radio is not going to immediately blow up but high SWR will shorten the life of it and effect the range of transmit and receive.

What you did when you adjusted the core in the load next to the antenna jack was change your output ever so slightly. You need to have a shop set your SWR and re-align the radio.

Hey not sure what kind of antennas you’re using
    Francis antennas work great
You need to get your swr as low as you can almost to nothing
You should have a calibration setting on it on one of your knobs
That warning was because of the swr was too high
Get your antennas as high as you can also away from the body of the truck if at all possible
Those Francis antennas are all fiberglass and work great for that. No adjustment needed .
Get you a road king 66 mic 🎤 also
Will make your radio sound completely different as it’s a noise canceling mic
Some get a kit and have the antennae mounted with new wiring that really does a good job and will make your radio sound amazing.
    Be safe
Up here loading back for Arkansas then back to Arizona
    Be safe always
    Much love ❤️
