I think he's a bit hard on Simba; taken out of context, what Peterson says makes sense. However, Scar told Simba that he was responsible for his father's death, an extremely traumatic event for him. To cope with the shame, Simba spent time with Timon and Pumbaa, who saved him from death by taking him to an oasis full of food. Simba would have neglected himself otherwise and died. Likewise, they sheltered him from Scar who would have sought to kill him. Simba needed time away from the traumatic event to be able to cope with it so as later to process it. Only when Simba was truly ready did destiny appropriately and timely call him back to his true purpose: to overthrow Scar, his selfish uncle, and afterwards to rule the Pride lands. In short, Timon and Pumbaa are not as toxic as Peterson makes them out to be and Simba is likewise not as guilty. He was only a cub when his father died and had no one else who might safely take care of him. Self-responsibility is great, but adopting perfectionism all the time is unhealthy; Simba did the best he could under the given circumstances.

An interesting side note, regarding when Dr. Peterson comment that it's a wonder Nala missed Simba: That is a woman's superpower. She can see the potential in a man she's interested in and will spend considerable effort making him useful. The two main plots of a romance are "Beauty and the Beast" and "Strong Woman and the Coward." In both, a woman encounters a man who has potential but, through either cruelty or mildness, is useless as a partner. But through mutual development, she becomes accepting and he becomes useful.
The dark side to this idea is the woman who cannot separate her vision of potential from realistic expectation. I think most people have encountered a woman who believes she can change a man who has no interest in changing for her, and those relationships never end well.

Brilliant. The depth of understanding Dr. Peterson has is stunning. The reason why he is a teacher is abundantly clear.
When a person attacks him, it is through ignorance or evil. Ignorance is a condition which can be treated by the willingness to know more, to be more completely human. Is wilful ignorace worse? Of course it is.
To do nothing when the facts are known is to be juvenile at best and a coward at worst. To openly attack truthfulness is sheer wickedness. This is the light against the dark, friends. Know the truth. Stand with it.

This video accurately describes what I'm going through right now, and that amazed and freaked me out at the same time. I'm trying to better myself by working out and upping my grades in college. My self-improvement journey was begun by something like the explanation at 8:26 in the video. I didn't have anyone to place those ideals onto, so I made up two beings in my head. One was the ideal man I wanted to become, and another was the woman, as described in the video. Both judged me (and still are) for wasting my life away, and that led to me to begin changing myself. I'm only three months into this. I still got things to change, but I'm losing fat and putting on muscle. My grades are still questionable, but at least I'm retaining the knowledge now. Yesterday, was the day I decided to seriously attempt to end my addiction. What it is, I won't say because embarrassment. This all stems from two people I made up in my head, so maybe there are some other issues I'm going to run into for that. It may even make me delusional or something, but it's working out so far. Review G. I Guedjieff and Self-Remembering. The true way to BE conscious is to avoid the activities that make the consciousness fall asleep. 1. Identification with everyday life situations, money, problems, relationships. 2. Judging others. When one makes a conscious effort to practice Non-Identification and and Self-observation / Judging one self, then you start giving shocks to your consciousness. It becomes stronger and therefore manifests more often

This is exactly why I am stunned every time I see someone with "hakuna matata" foolishly tattooed. Have they ever bothered seeing the ending? Simba outright rejects the selfish "hakuna matata" life, fights for his kingdom, and reclaims his throne. The meaning of The Lion King is the exact opposite of "hakuna matata" -- the meaning it's to be selfless, honorable, and step up to your duties.

The female lion letting Simba know who he really is and trying to separate him from his dopey friends makes me rethink a lot about my ex. She dumped me, but there are so many reasons why. But I did everything wrong, everything to ruin the relationship, but it was my first relationship and I didn't know I was making a fool out of myself. We were perfect. People looked up to us. 4.5 years together, I wanted to propose to her, having known her for 5 years. But as time went by, her standards raised because of her career and she saw how much potential I had. I was learning online business, marketing, selling, closing, etc... but I kept going back to my bad friends that she hated. I dug my own grave. I'm living this victim mindset because I can't forgive my failures and now fear failing anything I do, and doubt all my abilities. It's been 3.5 years now since I was dumped, I moved back to mom's house far from the city, it's half dead here, too peaceful, too comfortable, in the basement, gaining a bunch of weight, and depressed hoping and wishing for no tomorrow, it's hell. I'm grateful of what I have and that I have food and water, but I have all these opportunities and can't seem to do anything. I keep punishing myself, I have a really hard time forgiving, apologizing, accepting that I've failed, its obviously nothing, and should easily move on about it but I cant think, idk wtf is wrong with me. People make mistakes and move on, but it feels like I'm stuck 3 years back and can't put a foot forward. I can't focus, I'm stressed, I can't cry since it's "feminine", I can't do anything, I see black. "boo hoo" says all the men that have figured it out. I haven't yet. I can't take it anymore.

Bro you seriously need Jesus, like I ve been through so much pain and only God can help me. And I know he can help you too. Learn to forgive yourself. Focus on smaller goals like focus on your stability, make sure your family has what they need because they are helping you. And when you are ready go move out and work hard. Be open to meeting someone again to start a family of your own. In the meantime when you are feeling sad or hopeless, pray.

You lost her for a reason, brother. So you can learn. That's the masculine imperative. You need to go out and have trials and build up the strength you need. Cry it out man. When shit gets hard for me I'll just scream into a pillow at the top of my lungs. You need to let that shit out, let it go and move on. We get lessons like that to become stronger. Don't let this valuable lesson go to waste. I love this quote from Marcus Aurelius: 'Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now take what's left and live it properly.' You sound like a good dude, obviously that girl wouldn't have been with you in the first place if you weren't. So just understand you're good and go forward and also understand there are billions of women out there, a perfect one tailor made for you. I say all this because I was almost in the exact same position and this is what I would honestly tell to a younger version of my self. You have no mountain to climb, my guy, just layers of darkness to remove that aren't you. Hope you find peace.

The main point is to get around other men and to get physical.

It's good to look at yourself when a relationship ends and see where you might have contributed to the problems. It's not good to put your ex on a pedestal and think she was a Saint. No one is perfect. You have the ability to make things better. Reminiscing about your ex is not helping. You need to figuratively bury her in the past and move on. If you must cry, do it alone in your room.
The first thing you need to do is, Set attainable goals. The second thing to do is to get your body in shape, get off social media for awhile and start working on your mind as well. Work on your goals as you work on your body and mind.
I have been through things that most people will never go through. What helped me get through them is knowing "this will pass, it can't go on forever". Get into hobbies you enjoy, get back out there with some friends that are successful in life. Be around successful people. Mimic their positive traits.
I hope things get better for you.

I think it's a mistake to say that the feminine symbolically represents chaos. I think it's rather the child that represents chaos, the feminine is only the advocate for the child, since she stands between the father and the child. The mother discovers the child's virtues via positive reinforcement in the first years. The masculine is the advocate for the world, since the father is what stands between the mother/child and reality/society. The child represents chaos, but it also represents creativity (as opposed to the adult, who is conscientious/orderly but rigid). In a society that is overproducing, you want chaos/creativity in order to invest in new niches. In a society that is barely scraping by, you want to find a single niche and optimise for it.

I can see what you are saying. I agree with his analysis that woman are chaos. I think it actually compliments your opinion because woman need to be chaotic to be the link to children and reality. Also, our hormone flux’s keep us in perpetual chaos. All of this benefits the family and it takes a well balanced man to handle the chaos and create order from it and keep the mother one foot in reality.

    • @PeeGee85
      @PeeGee85 Рік тому

@@rayshaelizabeth8288 Interesting! I have a slightly different take, using the axes of masculine/femine and adult/child, so both man and woman have to mature (create order from chaos). Medusa has snakes for hair because she is the childish feminine, a woman-baby in a place of authority, unwilling to compromise with the masculine and follow rules. The minotaur is her opposite, a man-baby in a place of authority, trapped in a maze of his own unwillingness to compromise with the feminine, instead imposing his own rules on nature. She will keep a man spellbound, but never give him anything, leaving him terrorised for the entire relationship, just like the minotaur terrorises female victims in his maze. In a good relationship, partners turn their weakness inwards toward each other, and their strengths outwards to whatever challenges the relationship. The man turns his strength outward to the world/society and his weakness inward towards the woman, the woman turns her strength inwards to the child and her weakness outward towards the man. Both must become adults and trust each other, help each other overcome their own dragon/chaos, but without putting their own burden on the other, that's a mature relationship.
