Dr Peterson, I actually enjoy these q and a's more than your lectures.. you seem so relaxed, talking freely without overthinking, adding jokes and side notes and finally hitting the point home. Maybe it's Tammy's presence that calms you. Whatever it is, your sense of humour is definitely coming out more, and you're speaking openly, freely, as if you have nothing to lose and everything to share.

As powerful as that is he's also said that sometimes you're at such a low place that you can't engage in big social or political problems and you do what you can and sort yourself out, "Clean your room". Find a task that is "small enough that you can actually do". That's where I'm at, I've extremely ill and so political controversies don't really bother me because I can barely manage my day to day life, simple things like getting up in the morning are hard for me. And that's okay too. Hearing him talk about his daughter has helped me massively
While being true it's also very frightening. I used to be politically active (not activist). I ended up as leader of the regional chapter of a party. When I began the dad of one of my friends warned me: record all conversations, also phone conversations, don't trust anyone, take copy of everything you put your name on, don't trust anyone, document all meetings and who was at the meetings, don't trust anyone, never talk to media without a previously agreed agenda, don't trust anyone, keep party funds under strict control and never receive funds without lawyers present, don't trust anyone. Most important: never trust anyone.
A few years ago, I was that kind of "friend" who told his friends worse things that happened to me instead of just listening to them when they told me bad things. Thank you for helping me improving myself!
It's about taking responsibility for past mistakes. If you look at them seriously you realise that you deserve the suffering. Everyone makes mistakes and noone can get away with them. The other route is not facing them. But then you don't see the reality as it is and you will be fooling yourself and others. Also, if you don't suffer, you just enjoy the benefits of other people's suffering.
@@gautamchoudhary272 Well, I'm 61 (even if I don't think of myself that way) and _I_ have learned from Dr Peterson. The thing is that most of what Dr. Peterson talks about/teaches is essential life knowledge. Of course, the proper interpretation of this statement depends on your understanding of the meaning of the word "essential." If you are discussing something essential to whatever subject you are in fact discussing the foundational aspects of the subject. On that note, I will guess (perhaps incorrectly) that his age is likely early 30s or late 20s.
Waking up and accepting God as the Creator of all things but also His Love for us hopeless human beings has been my greatest motivation to change my behaviour, my mind, my speech, my interests, my priorities, what I listen to and how I see myself: a child of The Living God. Soooo blessed to leave all my past behind. It took me three years of praying and humbling myself and reading the Bible morning and night. A very small price to pay for peace and freedom! Blessings to all!
JP gives us practical wisdom in how to put feet to our faith. It starts with an articulated hope and purpose, then our mind, body and soul will sort it out to be an achievable reality.

He answered by explaining you should make your imagination work in your advantage by figuring out your identity, making a list of goals and achieving them step by step, live in a conscious way, make your own ideal imagined reality.
How Jordan 'is and speaks' is same with or without the presence of his wonderful Tammy, that i see very very VERY few times happening in life, grattitude from Belgium.
I seen my old man yesterday for his birthday, I hadn't seen him since my family's politics eroded when my mother died, it went alright, I'm still alive and so is he!! 😁
I loved what his wife shared about just listening. I know I’m not a good listener but didn’t know how to improve. Now I realize, it needs to start by me just keeping my damn mouth shut! To give context, not excuses, I’m a recovered addict and have been clean since 2013. I came up in NA where to keep what you have you have to give it away, so I automatically always share my side to everyone when I’m tryin to help. I’ve been able to build my life back and have all the “things” that we give away in addiction, and do believe hell if I can do it anybody can, and people always looked at me as the worse case scenario so if I can explain it to someone then surely that’ll help them. I’m realizing now, because I just do life now, not NA, that I’m probably not helping as much as I thought and it may come across as touting. I need to shut up more and listen. Also the end where he talks about drinking was funny lol. Last thing, I’ve been saying I need to buy his book 12 rules. I’ve never been a reader, so I just keep sayin I need to buy the book, and then don’t. What’s the worse that can happen? I buy the book and don’t read it? Will the sky fall if that happens? I need to get better at making simple decisions instead of thinking “what if”. Even if I read one chapter and not pick it up again for a yr, so what! I said how I got all the “things” back. For the past 2 yrs I’ve just not moved out of fear and thinking that ok I got to this point I’ve always wanted now I’m supposed to feel happy. Unfortunately I’ve felt like “ok, so this is it? This is what normal people feel like?” Since finding JP, I’ve realized the true happiness comes from the journey and continuing to find ways to improve or learn something, and I’ve started finally living!
It’s not NA. Good for you for working on it, but one-upsmanship isn’t concern for others. Steps four and five force self-examination while steps eight and nine force accountability. Tolerance and withdrawal are side effects, not a disease. 12 Step recovery has to fabricate a model of chronicity for people who want to pretend vilifying the substance or behavior of choice and substituting compulsive meeting attendance and group approval isn’t the easier softer way. But compulsions can’t be treated directly. Only finding and resolving corresponding obsessions (unconscious anxieties) relieves compulsivity. Your confusion is understandable though since the predatorily narcissistic cult that uses your own narcissistic pathology against you (by telling you it’s something else entirely and only knocking the rough edges off as long as you go back for the rest of your life) brainwashes people shallow enough to believe it they’re happy joyous and free. That shit does a lot of harm to the self-esteem of people for whom it does not work because we are not narcissistic though (which, of course works all the better for the peanut gallery who say “Well you just must not want it badly enough” or some bullshit like that to the steady stream of “newcomers“ upon whose failures their smug petty pussyass egos are propped-up).
A friend invited me to see the Dr a few weeks ago. At the end, he turned to me and said, "That was like drinking from a fire hose." I agreed, too true.
That's a tricky one mainly because while imagination and the unconscious mind can overlap in certain ways, they represent different aspects of mental activity. Imagination is a conscious and voluntary process, while the unconscious mind operates without conscious control. Imagination is the faculty of the mind that allows us to form mental images, ideas, and concepts that are not present in our current sensory experience. It involves conscious and deliberate mental activity, often used for creative and problem-solving purposes. Generally great take JBP, he's strong on these types of topics.

I've followed your journey for over a decade now. I think this might be one of my favorite lectures. I love how you feel out and articulate the metaphysical world for us. Much needed. Christianity does an excellent (if not the most excellent) job of doing this but we're in an age of information and science has added some very interesting and perplexing information to the architecture of the overall picture. Good job for translating that. ❤
I don't know if you read comments, but you are part of the hope that keeps me going. Thank you for all you do and I wish I could ease your suffering because that's what you do for me.
The unconscious mind is where your paradigm resides your paradigm determines your imagination your imagination is a Devine mind that creates your future. If your subconscious is in a negative paradigm you will create situations through your imagination to bring you anxiety fear and ultimately orient your life in a cycle of pain. If the unconscious mind is oriented in a paradigm of prosperity your imagination starts imagining positive scenarios which intern create a positive feeling which magnetizes and restructuring the universe to fit that paradigm. Imagination is essentially a Devine mind picking up on the multi-verses infinite possibilities and aligning with that which corresponds to your unconscious mind. Neville Goddard an entire lecture on it and the metaphysical substance in both spirituality and quantum physics in relation to the two is fascinating. I’d recommend Neville Goddard or Bob Proctor if anyone is interested. On this particular topic
Jordan Peterson helped me understand that it’s just as important to get Heaven into us here and now as it is to get into Heaven when we die. Looking back at the gospels in this new understanding - Jesus was pretty much saying the same things as well.
If you aren't fit for Heaven here on earth then you won't be fit for Heaven. The transformation is to take place here on earth. Your soul should be clear. Everyone should be walking the straight path here. Now, we still have problems with the flesh, severely. However, it is written that when the time comes the saints will shed their corrupted bodies and be given incorruptible, glorified bodies. In that case, when properly done, you pair a clear, clean heart and mind with a clean, incorruptible body. That is whole perfection. Then, we are ready to enter into Heaven. Specifically, Heaven on earth which is New Jerusalem.
At last someone who understands that thought is not a product of you, but you are a product of thought. I would absolutely love to interview him one day. Perhaps in my dreams
I severely struggle with this “game” 7:54. I have been struggling with this for my whole life. I have failed so many times at changing my work situation I’m practically paralyzed to try. I’ve run out of faith in my ability to competently provide for my family. The only thing keeping me here is the knowledge of what happens to the loved one’s who are left behind. I have seen the effects firsthand. I’m not that blinded by my depression. I don’t want to leave that kind of a legacy behind for my wife and kids. Everything just hurts, physically, emotionally , intellectually, etc. I suppose I’ll just have to try again. On a lighter note, you have great content, I enjoy listening. Thanks for all you share.
Decide to let yourself off the hook for just one day, or just one hour. It is hard to force ourselves into such a simple situation, I know. But at this point, you have nothing to lose but a day or an hour of misery, right? So push yourself to just forget all the stuff you usually tell yourself. If you feel yourself creeping into that old habit, just stop & let it go for now. I am no pro & am not trying to tell you, a stranger, what to do…but I am a human with the ability to recognize that you have posted the comment because you want more than you believe you are right now. Fatigue can sometimes be a heavy burden that swallows up our energy. Waking ourselves up requires us to throw a wrench in our reg habits…like an alarm clock for our soul, if you will. Faith is not only something for religious people. It is a trust we all must work at, in many parts of our lives. Maybe you can try letting go of the weights you carry every day, for just the one day or one hour, and try carrying some true & honest faith that you can have the life you want with your family because you are a man of value, and that is not a small thing. Just think of how good you will feel for that one day, or one hour…how much lighter & free you will be. The only thing needed to get there is to try forgiving yourself your self imposed criticisms for the day, or the hour… at this point, it can’t hurt to give it a try, right?! One last little tidbit that may seem silly but has incredibly positive outcomes by those who do it… go stand in front of a mirror and smile. Physically force your face into a smile…over & over. Don’t critique your looks or your face…simply smile. Force yourself to do that every time you see a mirror, make it a habit. It will change your mood & the mood of those you encounter the more you do it. I hope you read this & give yourself the chance to try these two things. Sometimes it is just a little recognition that can turn life around…point us in a better direction. I recognize your fatigue and hope you know there is a better direction you can go in. Smile, dear stranger, it is worth it.
All you can do is the best you can do and nothing more. It'll happen one way or another I just try to be enthusiastic about it and the challenge becomes more fun as time goes on. Listening to Mr Peterson helps

I'm more accustomed to the cold than the heat having been raised in Northern Montana and still prefer the cold climates. Well, when I meditate I usually don't imagine anything or imagine the future or anything, I just live in the present and pay atrention to my surroundings (animal like), I somehow reconnect with my animal side, I listen to the birds singing, to the wind blowing, to the water flowing, I see the light, the sun, the rays of the sun on the trees, I smell the humidity in the air, the herbal aroma, the flowers, I touch the grass, etc; I sometimes close my eyes to smell stronger and feel more the things I touch, depending on the moment, but in that moment, nothing else exists but me and my surrounding at that precise moment.

What is the relationship between imagination and inspiration? Inspiration: a divine influence or action on a person believed to qualify him or her to receive and communicate sacred revelation
What if someone doesnt "believe" they are qualiefied? Does it change something? I dont know, reading your comment got me thinking in this scenario possibility, maybe theres something there. Writing this in case it bugs you too
@@sabrinnasantos3146 This seems to be the theme for many Religions - we are born in sin, we must follow the worthy leaders. Disempowering dogma in action.
@@bradseward8342So you think that when someone doesnt believe they are qualiefied, they got possessed by some religious belief that validates that because we are sinfull. Hope I got that right. I think that this got me thinking because it emerge another question: is one worthy of receiving and communicating sacred reveletion? The first thing that popped on my mind was: no haha. But Im biased because I am too just another sinful human. Guess that is for god to decide. One of those mysteries. Still interesting to think about
To answer your question: I think the relationship between the two is way more complex than you and I really know haha Jordan would truly be the one who I believe that could get this right. But I see, in this case, the imagination as a door or a window to creation. You were blessed enough to get inspired and then your imagination is the land where the inspiration will be able to bare fruit. I think is where artists create their own worlds, their fantasies and stories. I also like to think that when you really like na artist work or when an artist gets to be considered one of the greats, its because he or she was able to build a really good bridge between this world (their imagination) and the outside world. And this is a really difficult thing to build when its done really well. Thats at least part of the reason whe get mesmerized. Part of us just dont believe that that was actually possible. Its like a glimpse into someones dreams, really
The hierarchy of values in perception has always intrigued me. this may explain why ghosts and other metaphysical beings exist in our unconscious. maybe we were able to perceive them at very early stages of our evolution, but because they have zero or near zero impact in our struggle for survival, our perceptions have evolved so that we do not see them anymore. Since they still have a place in our culture, it would not be wrong to say that they have a near-zero effect instead of zero.
Thats very interesting, it reminded me of one of JPs lectures form the biblical series. "The Phenomenology of the divine - VIII". He talks a bit about the origins of the counsciousness, you might like watching.

Another debate would be how we used to perceive the world before turning into adults and then afterwards. Did it change our byological vision? Or did it not? If so, how and when?

Yeah the first prop. Of that game at 11:22 is fire. It’s literally talking about the forgiveness of Christ. Cuz we all know we can’t forgive ourselves….like a few seconds before one person goes “WHOOO!” And I agreed cuz that’s good news fr
People hate Jordan, a man who's helping people put their lives (back) together. Although he would hate this comment, to me he's the closest thing to the second coming of Jesus. No one has put together more lives than him. TV pastors should be ashamed.
Imagination presents to the awareness the totality of its experience as it associates memory fragments in a continuous attempt to maintain contextualization. It could be conceived of as the evanescent body of the spirit. A clear, unperturbed imagination will show the spirit's leading. Self-interest will distort and perturb the imagination with its own leadings, swamping the delicate impressions of the spirit's leadings. The an early complexification of awareness of the body, the so-called "subconscious/unconscious mind", responds to the imagination the same as it does reality. Everything complexifies, creating stratifications, or layers, so we conceive of an unconscious, a subconscious, and a conscious, then a superconscious, mind, in order of greater complexification. Then we assign different properties to these different categories, levels, or degrees, of the same thing, mind, ostensibly to improve our understanding of it. It's the "take it apart to find out how it was put together" approach to knowledge that science fosters. However, this approach presumes each person to be in possession of a "mind"--a highly constraining presumption. The "mind" is not the sort of object with which science, by its nature, is prepared to deal. But that's all science has to work with, so it produces simplistic mechanistic, materialistic results when subjecting "mind" to its lauded "method". The essential experience of "awareness" is the eternal NOW, the ever-processing current moment. By our "intention" and "attention" orchestrated by "the awareness" we perpetually and at high speed associate and cross-correlate associations in a flurry of contextualization. This is done to support the high-level complexes, like specific task-oriented complexes, or identity complexes, like "ego" and "self".

If you watched the series of Sandman, this makes lots of sense. Makes me wonder if the writers were inspired by JP.
Peterson seem pretty relaxed after mushroom trip. I think he reflected more about himself.
@@jqhn316 The sandman is based on the teaching's of Carl Jung, whom Peterson cites a lot of the time. They even mention the "collective unconscious" which is a jungian idea. In a sense, almost every story is the inner journey of the person/people who wrote it.
But yea, the Sandman is a brilliant show. can't wait for s2.

Exactly this. The way you said it really makes my bowels quiver
This one hit home😭
Do you all really feel that bad about yourself?
It's about taking responsibility for past mistakes. If you look at them seriously you realise that you deserve the suffering. Everyone makes mistakes and noone can get away with them. The other route is not facing them. But then you don't see the reality as it is and you will be fooling yourself and others. Also, if you don't suffer, you just enjoy the benefits of other people's suffering.
All men of my age whom I know, have learned essential life knowledge from Dr Peterson.
Can you say How old are you?

How many of our imaginative moments are influenced by the unconscious part of the brain do you think?
And active imagination is the balance/interplay between conscious and unconscious control of the imagination.

Amen bro

Interesting thoughts. I'll give the lecture a go it's been on my list
SUBCONCIOUS**** I really hate how he combines those two into the word you and he use....the brain scans are NOT the same!!
Are you defining a Distiction between sub- and Un-? Please go on
I loved this clip Dr.! It helped me to empathyze with a lot onto my insides.. I manifest myself in Canada this year 🥺💖🙏
The distinction between the Upper Subconscious (accessible thru hypnosis) and the Deep Subconscious is important.
Could you say a little bit more about that, please? It would be even better if you could share the sources.

Another debate would be how we used to perceive the world before turning into adults and then afterwards. Did it change our byological vision? Or did it not? If so, how and when?
This guy is just great.
I really needed to hear this. I REALLY have to figure out what I want.
God Bless Dr Peterson and his family!🙏
I believe divine providence is always working..
Joseph’s brothers sought to get rid of him because they were jealous and God used their wrath to bring Joseph to a place where he could save his family
Thank you very much Mr. Jordan for this talk. It gave me good ideas on how to find out what the hell I'm supposed to do. I've been so lost my whole life. No father or father figure in my life so I've been very aimless.
I quit alcohol 8 years ago I quit hookah Cafe and I'm back In-Shape thank you God love you guys all from heart but eyes dry I can cry
Yeah the first prop. Of that game at 11:22 is fire. It’s literally talking about the forgiveness of Christ. Cuz we all know we can’t forgive ourselves….like a few seconds before one person goes “WHOOO!” And I agreed cuz that’s good news fr
Even if you got it together I think there's always a part of someone that still feels a little lost.. life is hard
People hate Jordan, a man who's helping people put their lives (back) together. Although he would hate this comment, to me he's the closest thing to the second coming of Jesus. No one has put together more lives than him. TV pastors should be ashamed.
Jordan Peterson jokes: “You know who is most likely to murder you? A drunken relative!”
Nothing funnier than the truth sometimes.
The continental divide
Its funny because its true
He was after the woman in the red dress, in the red convertible, holding an apple and cocaine
Fact
25:38 - 26:11
I found out what this clip is from to watch the entirety! It's from the Detroit Michigan Beyond Order Tour Q&A half of the show.
