Anna A --- Sam is born & raise in Scotland. He left Scotland when he was 18 years old & moved to New York. Lived there for 12 years. Left to move to California. Was there 10 years. So his accent wasn't as strong anymore. But he got the Outlander role he moved back to Scotland in 2013 & been there since. So his accent has gotten back to what is was before leaving Scotland his true Scottish accent.
