    Best idea for quick disconnect I’ve seen! Idk how many YT videos I watch where people don’t have those and it really makes me question their IQ. Maybe they don’t fish in current or waves but I wouldn’t want to get in a bind and have to grab a knife to cut myself loose cuz now you’re in a sketchy situation and holding a blade!

    I use a strong floating bungeecord as anchorline it gives a very smoth and comforty time on the water, as a quick release i have Cam Cleat, works very good. And on the anchottrolley i have a carabiner i just snap in the anchorline then i dont have to pull it true the ring.

  • @jpa1967
    @jpa1967 5 років тому +8

    Nice rig but I would reconsider the rope attachment location on the anchor, recovery is important so tie the rope to the bottom hole on that anchor and the run rope up side of anchor and zip tie to the top of anchor. That way when stuck you can pull anchor in opposite direction breaking zip tie and pull from bottom of,anchor disslodging the grapples from underneath whatever is holding down.

      Should mention to use a small zip tie. They're pretty tough if you get one to big. Also the force you use to break the zip tie is instantly reversed when it breaks so mind your balance when you have to break it. The ones I use have an 18 pound tensel strength. Also remember that the ring of the anchor can slip past the now wide open top end of the anchor. I put another small zip tie in the top hole not attached to the line and left a short end of it sticking out to help stop the ring from slidding off. Just my 2 cents. Maybe it'll help someone?

    I posted a video just like this one about a year ago trying to explain this exact same thing about "quick release" anchor. I did this because there weren't any real quick release videos that truly allowed the anchor to release quickly. the way I've done it is very similar to your method. But however the method the main thing is safety and being able to get that anchor away is a safe deal. i wish more folks would see how effective this method is

    Nice video, thanks for taking the time to publish this. I just bought the Yakattack HD Lever-Loc trolley. I have the same PA14 as you. I have only one outing in my yak at this time and I’m trying to figure out if the Port (left) side would be the best to install the trolley. What are all the factors considered when choosing a side? I do cast right handed but the one time I went out I usually casted from the right side and then out off the Port (left) side of the yak (so I was retrieving from the left side). For me to cast out to the STBD (right side) I have to cast more over my head (rarely do this). I’m considering installing on the right side (STBD). Also, what system do you use to lock your trolley to the bow or stern? Finally, could I just use a zig-sag or regular cleat with my anchor line? Seems to me a system like yours, you are limited to a fixed length of anchor rope. I do only fish 10-25’ depths in mostly still water.

    • @SRadigFishing
      @SRadigFishing  6 років тому

      I side arm cast and retrieve from the right. It is really no big deal if you do tangle, the boat is stable enough to reach out to either end. I am at about 80 trips and love this kayak. I did a pro's and con's at 55 trips on my channel. Really the only con is the price!

    • @jeffcarter2144
      @jeffcarter2144 5 років тому

      @@SRadigFishing I also have the question regarding adjusting your anchor rope length. It appears your length is fixed. How do you adjust for shallow water? I fish both lakes and salt water. Depths vary between only a few feet to 40 feet. Building the PVC carrier this weekend. That looks so much better than the bag my kit came with.

    • @SRadigFishing
      @SRadigFishing  5 років тому +1

      @@jeffcarter2144 It is shallow everywhere around here, about 8 feet deep at the most. I have about 25 feet of line and that has been enough so far but I carry an extra 50 feet to add on if needed.

  • @Manuel_Z_Kayaks
    @Manuel_Z_Kayaks 3 роки тому +1

    All well and good but...you have the anchor tied incorrectly. You tie a claw anchor from the bottom and zip tie the main line to the top loop (NOTE: Only the zip tie goes through the top loop holding the anchor line) so if the anchor gets hung up you can pop the zip tie and the anchor pulls up from the bottom unsnagged.

    • @SRadigFishing
      @SRadigFishing  3 роки тому

      Your 100% correct but it is all mud here in Louisiana and we don't have to worry about losing an anchor. I should be using a plow style here.

    Do you ever want to anchor in the middle of your kayak? Also what is a situation you would need to quick disconnect? I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I purchase my first Kayak. ( I mostly plan on fishing in calm lakes until i really understand everything then move into my states rivers)

    • @SRadigFishing
      @SRadigFishing  4 роки тому

      Yes I have anchored in the middle to be broad side to an outlet, you must be in low current to do this and be stable. The main reason to quick release is when you hook up with a big fish that might spool you so you can chase them down.
