“games today would not be this broken” he says meanwhile security breach quietly sneaks out of the room (i get he probably means like kart games, mario games, etc, but it’s what came to mind)
Funny how Mario Kart 7 is NEVER talked about. That game is like beyond just broken. Today there's still shortcuts being found, the most recent ones being on Rainbow Road and Airship fortress
18:43 A lakhop is some way to skip some section of the race but still get credit for those checkpoints by using lakitu's cheating to give you credit. Issue is, to put it visually, the game considers the race to be a circle, with an important point in the middle which you're trying to wind a proverbial string around (IDK), you draw a straight line from your past position to your current position to determine lap completion- in effect, you can only move up to 50% in a single step- if you were to move 51%, it'd instead cross that midpoint the wrong way and instead look like moving -49%. The bridgehop is used for something else, getting your race completion from -0.27 or whatever to 0.83 (~-0.27 -> 0.37 which is ~+0.5, then 0.37 -> 0.83 which is ~+0.46) so that driving to the finish line gives you credit for a lap
i edit and upload clips from ludwig's streams here, most of the time reactions, as i see that a lot of people find it much easier that way. Feel free to stick around! please also check ludwig's channel if you haven't for some reason :3 ua-cam.com/channels/mbSGFM9OU8FwjxZCevr6zw.html
To explain how it exactly work, let's take Bridge as an exemple: You do Lakitu Hop to get every bit to 1, however your lap completion instead of going to 0.94 goes to -0.06 ; you go from -0.13 (87% of the Lap 0) to 0.37 (37% of the Lap 1) to 0.83 (83% of the Lap 1) then do the rest by driving and get to 1, end of Lap 1 Lakitu checkpoint abuse doesn't work if you go out of bounce
I don't agree honestly its hard asf to even perfect it. Goomba did what Matthii theorized. If it wasn't for Goomba the wr wont be where it is, but if it was for Matthii no shortcuts would've been found. They both where essential
What? Only unintended things count as “shortcuts”? What are the intentional route changes that are easy to miss or hard to find that I’ve been calling shortcuts for years in, say, Mario Kart 8
@LudwingVerse: The time they said that the Bowser castle Mario kart double dash short-cut was discovered in 2018, his not correct, it was discovered in either 2011, 2012, or 2013, but not the full short-cut shown in the video above of it at the time because I remember doing it in 2013 before buying the WiiU on the week of the 26 of December 2013, I was playing Mario kart double dash on the Wii since it was able to play Game cube disk and the reason why I was doing it I saw a video on youtube of them doing it and i thought it was fake and i try several time and then it work for me meaning it was not fake. Edit: Actually the Bowser castle half lap skip in Mario kart double was discovered on 2010, but I only saw the video on 2013, I give it a try to see if it work, then I try to see if it work with a mushroom and it did work, then I try to see if it work in reverse from the half way point to the finish line, and after a lot of try it did also work, at the time it was only half lap cut, it was probebly me who figure out the other stuff about it, but unfortunatley I did not have a capture card at that time, so someone else discovered the rest since I could not capture proof, but the main reason that lap skip was discovered was because of the original half lap skip discovered by them back in 2010 ua-cam.com/video/V0jotjUGxKc/v-deo.html
i like how he never understood how race completion worked lmao
His cat moment near the end was so cute XD

pog thanks for the edited
Thanks for the edit, I usually fall asleep to these videos so it's great that the rest of the stream is cut out :3
I was watching the cat more than the video

I'm Bias, but mario kart dd was my first mario kart and though I played the other mario kart games, I still think that DD is the best one.
No love for Super Circuit either. XD I freaking LOVE that game.
Made in abyss goes hard
Love how it all started with Salt's Original Mkwii video
Yes the DS is the best of the first five Mario kart games and 8 Deluxe is the best in the series
I'm a bit annoyed that you didn't also link the Salt video
Mario Kart 7 is/was perfect
Wow... Voting for best mario kart and straight up ignoring the snes version
Idk guys. I think it took 15 years to break the game.
Lets be honest. Goomba didn't do shit. Mathii was the innovator here and Goomba just drove fast.
I don't agree honestly its hard asf to even perfect it. Goomba did what Matthii theorized. If it wasn't for Goomba the wr wont be where it is, but if it was for Matthii no shortcuts would've been found. They both where essential
