@@alex2005z I mean that's just what a shortcut is. If the regular route is faster then it's not an Ultra Shortcut, it's just an Ultra, so of course they change it. It's not "floppy," it's exactly the way labeling a "shortcut" is. If you don't save time, all it is is a longcut.

28:35 yeah, they're not allowed in competitive, because of Grumble Volcano, because it's pretty easy and saves a huge amount of time. CTGP, the system used for it, will not count ultra shortcut laps
When I first got CTGP when I was young I didn't know it didn't work so I tried the grumble volcano one for for a while and of course it didn't work but then they also banned me for a week for even trying it for some reason LOL
The ultra cut on bc3 is actually worth it it saved .2 seconds which is very valuable if u do it all 3 laps, you could bring the wr down by half a second easily
You can't do it on all 3 laps because it takes multiple mushrooms, and even if you could, the setup takes way more than 0.2 seconds. Also the first clip is so extremely difficult it's almost not rta viable with the addition of having to pull all of the rest of the strats off near perfectly to save time in a flap wr.

im retty sure there is an ultra shortcut in shy guy beach using the umbrella near the start. By using wall clipping you can do something similar to the wall clip in sherbert land showed at the beginning of the video. This ultra shortcut is used in the 200cc world record.
Yeah you can wallclip off the boundary between in the inbounds water and oob water and get a respawn to save time in a 3lap run rather than just a flap
