- R.I.P. Peter who passed away yesterday (7th of January 2025). Peter, Paul and Mary were an American folk group formed in New York City in 1961 during the American folk music revival phenomenon. The trio consisted of Peter Yarrow, Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers. A few well known songs and some that you may have never heard before. No copyright infringement intended. All shared from You Tube with many thanks.. Ps My You Tube channel is not monetized ..and never will be. R.I.P. Mary
Where in the World are the "likes" for these gifted talented trio??? Come On People!!! You'll never here music like this ever again ❤
*hear music
Thankful, the excruciatingly tedious music known as Folk is long gone.
@GaryIrving-x5operhaps it’s your crumbling attention span due to current technology. Go outside! Smell the roses!
I saw these gloriously gifted trio a dozen times in Hawaii! What a thrill!
@GaryIrving-x5oactually it’s thriving without your support, recognition or appreciation.
playing this weekend at the 'Green Onion', north beach, three people who sing songs that leave us with forever.
There will never be another Trio as this !!!
@@jefferykeeper9034 Thank Goodness.
Absolutely gorgeous, lovely memories and as fresh in 2024 as they were in the 60s, thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
Thank you too!
Good heavens! Just now, Algorithm just now, 15'01, December 31, 2024, offered this to me. Takes my breath away. Floods my heart. I was 16. Played guitar. Played 5-string. We sang their songs around bonfires on a summer's beach in western Michigan, on the bus taking my high school football team to out-of-town games. We were awe-struck in love with Mary - her voice and all else. We aspired to the finger-picking mastery of Paul Stookey and Peter Yarrow. To hear again in this video the harmonies of Peter's tenor, Paul's baritone, and Mary's compelling low alto is a joy.
Great comment ..thank you !! :)
Leaving on a jet plane, aound bonefires on a beach in Cesareia, Israel, the year 1976.
I was also a teenager and your words sounded so much in my heart. Fond memories of our good all times.
@@virginiaburmester4238 it as a wonderful time, we were more free, no screen but movies and tv
And how Mary would go from a contralto to countertenor
I saw them in 1965 as a 13 y o at Carnegie Hall in the 5th row Wow.
Rest in Peace Peter Yarrow. Sing a song with Mary Travers.
They represented the part of my life when I thought everyone was on a common mission to improve the world.
Very sad to see it turned out quite contrary.
I met Peter twice. Once when I went back stage after a concert in Indianapolis and once when I showed him how to get into the Children’s Museum when he was doing a concert to help raise money. In both cases I was a stranger but he treated me like a friend. I have played the guitar since I was 11. I’m 76 now and had it not been for PPM I would not own and still play 10 Martin guitars. R I p Peter and Mary and thank you.
In 1965 I made enough money raising hogs that I could afford a record player. One of the first albums I bought was by Peter, Paul and Mary. They were great!
Thank you for making this wonderful video. Peter, Paul and Mary brought out the best in me. RIP Peter, you and the trio have done that for so many people
I can't listen to their music without crying. Their music shaped my teen and young adult years and made me the person I am today. Always so important, always so socially conscious, always fighting for social justice. And the beautiful harmonies and catchy rhythms made them accessible to everyone. I wonder -- are there other artists now who sing songs of social justice? Thank goodness Paul is still with us and still active. Thanks, Pete, for posting this. I have most of their albums for the music, but am loving the videos you've put together. (And there are some songs I've never heard!)
Thanks for posting. Such iconic voices.
Suddenly, I am 5 years old walking around the house singing Puff the Magic Dragon in cheap kiddie high heels. Loved the PP n Mary album we had. Such great memories. Makes me miss my mom.
NEVER GETS OLD
Five Hundred Miles…so beautiful
Thank you brother!
The magic dragon stole my heart 💜
Rest in Peace, Peter of my favorite folk group Peter, Paul and Mary!!! You guys are the best!!!
Real voices. Real music. Thanks so much for the great memories . They still live.
Mary Travers voice is like an angel from heaven comes down to touch the heart mind n soul of anyone in listening distance ❤❤❤❤❤❤
So beautiful.... I remember those years. Pete Seeger being a part of them also. We don't forget these songs.
Such tight harmony...and all done without IEMs. They were the best of my generation; all gone too soon as music changed. But they will live forever in our hearts.
They came to Toronto 3 times and I paid a premium and even had to fight a bit to get front row seats for my girlfriend and I.
Every show was fantastic and I managed to get autographs from all of them and bragged to all my friends way back when. Now my friends are gone and so are PP&M. It was a great era. No cell phones flashing, no kids screaming, just the sheer love of music.
Growing up in the 60s in Calif I was only in elementary school - 5th grade, 6th grade, but I remember vividly the 60s music that had an impact on me, the songs and culture seemed so peaceful, joyful, fun.
Peter Paul and Mary's Puff the Magic Dragon was a favorite of school children like me at the time.
I remember so many great groups, artists of the time. The Seekers with Judith Durham similar to Peter Paul and Mary was another group that I enjoyed as a child.
Then there was times I spent with my dad when he worked as a gas station manager, watching all the guys working on their muscle cars, installing under-dash 8-track players, playing songs like Venus by Shocking Blue was blasting .. then he would always go across the street to McDonald's, the old style ones, bought Big Macs and Fries (and they were really good bck then, not like today) and ate lunch together.
Unforgettable times, precious memories.
The era was definitely a time of change, and the music reflected the change.
To this day, the memories of that era shaped me, what and who I cherished - family, friends, good times, times that were seared into my heart, mind, and very being.
Let them never be forgotten.
Love this so much I, loved folk music ❤
They were as someone has already said the'best .I was lucky enough to see them several times over the years to witness the sheer magic of each prrformance. God bless Albert Grossman bringing together such perfectly matched voices and talents. They inspired me as a musician from the first moment I heard them. Later I was to form a folk trio ' West Country Three' with my late wife Rosemary and our friend Mike Blakeman. We performed many of P.P. and Ms songs and began to realise as we rehearsed how much thought and effort they must have put into each and every song they sang. We later recorded an album on the Pye Marble Arch Label under our name featuring all our favourites performed by our ' heroes' .heroes' . Whenever I play the record I feel the love I have for my beautiful wife and then that other 'love' I will always feel for Peter Paul, and Mary. How lucky we all are to still have that feeling after all these years.
I was still a young teenager and I was dreaming about when I could leave on a jet plane ✈ great memories
When I was a very young kid, my folks had the 8 track, I listened to that a million times, we've still got it too.
They were so good together and I continue to feel very deep emotional joy with their songs. Though they are gone from us now every time I hear their songs my love affair with Peter Paul and Mary begins anew. Such a pleasing video, Thank You!
Bob
Remarkable and memorable. Certainly one of the most influential groups of the last 2 or 3 generations.
Talked on phone to Peter during a PBS telethon ,such A beautiful soul
Such a beautiful soul to molest a 14 year old girl. He was convicted in 1970.
Oh how wonderful !! The best harmonies ever 🎶🎶
Thank you for the nostalgic video. And the sound is great. When I listen to these songs, I feel nostalgic and remember the past and it brings tears to my eyes.
Thank you for taking the time to watch !! 🙂
45:03 could be no better
In 1968, I remember when my 8th grade music teacher would play their records. Something about the lyrics & music gave me the appreciation I still have for them. Sad Mary passed away, I wish they would still tour
Listening to their music makes me cry. I grew up with it. And I’m wondering, in the world today, where are the artists promoting peace, love and faith?
Jan 1st 2025. 60 years to the day when I heard them for the first time. Still love them.
So absolutely Great....!! thank you!!
May his memory be for a blessing.
Peter rest in Christ and prayers of peace for his family. Peter, Paul, and Mary album is special and inspirational.
Peter was Jewish, so maybe Christ wasn't on his agenda.
I also love "leaving on a jet plane" I find it very lonesome, very sad and sweet and touching
A golden compass for the moral high-ground we were trying to occupy... God bless them!
Well said , Martina !
A time of inspirational music!
Their music was so popular and still is. They all sang so well, the guitar parts blended in, and Mary's appearance was absolutely stunning!
Fortunate to have seen them 2 times in Atlanta and once in Jacksonville between 1962-1966.
I love this trio. They are so much a part of my life and love of music.
Great music back in time reminds in my younger days
Reminds me of two times in my history: my childhood, in Memphis, back in the sixties and again when I stood on a little hill in Afghanistan, 45 years later, alone, I quietly sang, 500 Miles, to the dark night. I went home and retired, 2006…from an old veteran, retired in the US, foothills of the Smoky Mountains.
God bless you and greetings from Austria
Sweet memories, from a VA nurse.
I grew up listening to their music.
My father would put their records on inthe evening, many a night it put my restless soul to sleep.
Now thanks to you sharing I can now listen to them again and their music still puts my restless soul to sleep.
Thany you.
💙💜💙🕊
Thank you too for the lovely comment. :)
My father usually sang their songs with his guitar.🎶🎸Oh I miss my papa Demie ❤️
May Beloved God take you into His Loving Arms and the Bliss forever flow through your heart. You gave me such beautiful love when I was young - and now 60 years or so later you still do. Thank you.
Peter, Paul and Mary were part of the effort to change America for the best. I went on a date with a man who was in the floral business in NYC who told me his family had been big in the 60s marches for equal rights, and his home was often full of the likes of Peter, Paul and Mary, Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger because the entertainers were not well off and needed somewhere free to stay when they performed to raise money, point out injustice or gather people for a march...he has pictures of himself as a very young child on their laps, or watching them play in his living room. He was very proud of that, and I was amazed and felt like I was in the presence of someone not only lucky, but from a family who represented the best of their generation. I often regret not dating him longer, but I felt like he was way out of my league. I think of him when I listen to the folk rock of that era and appreciate what they did for our country.
These songs bring back some youthful memories. Memories of first love and leaving on a jet plane to boot camp and leaving on an aircraft carrier for Vietnam. Getting to sail around the world on that big boat whether I wanted to or not. Yes sir it was a big part of my early life.
I had no idea that's what that song was about until I read this comment.
Peter, Paul and Mary and Joni Mitchell can't beat it ,just a good life listing to the good music
I grew up as they became well known, their music is a special kind of magic. I still play these albums today
Watching this compilation just sent me back to New Haven, CT in 1994 when I had the privilege of standing on stage next to Peter Yarrow and singing a duet with him for the final stanza of Blowin in the Wind which ended the concert that night. THANK YOU for sharing these memories with all of us and bringing me back to that memory!
Wow Katherine ..what a wonderful memory to have and thank you for your comment. 🙂
Utterly fascinating. Would you care to share the circumstances? Sounds intriquing.
Nice one!
Beautiful, touching music with voices straight from heaven!
I Love PPnM. Thanks for ever....
Thank you for putting this out!
My pleasure!
My first favorite music, brings me right back to my home. Has always been wonderful, my favorite. Uncomplicated, very dear to me. Thank you, God bless you.
Folk music lives on in the heart n soul n nobody performed tradition better than PPnM❤❤❤I love Mary Travers voice always forever RIP❤
I met them in Vermont and became friends with them
They were nice people we stayed friends till Mary passed from Lupus which I also have . I miss her so much, Wish she was here! 🎉❤❤
You are so lucky Renee .. They will never be forgotten by people who have a heart.
Mary Travers' voice used to send shivers up my spine. The trio singlehandedly revived folk music and made the world better for everyone but eventually many so-called musical experts turned against them claiming that they were "too commercial." What a pity. I only know that they were very very good at what they did. But of course rock buried folk pretty much forever. Now I only have memories of the beautiful music made by Peter Paul and Mary. And now Peter is gone leaving only Paul who had that beautiful baritone.
IIn the 60s, I never missed one of their NY concerts. In the 90s I for to take my family to see them at SPAC. I raised my sides on their music as I grew myself up listening to PP&M . Mar;s gone. Peter's gone. I can't listen to them with dry eyes. I love this music. I miss them.
They are so focused incredible, really paying attention to them they are the best
Ascoltati una volta per caso alla fine degli anni '60, li ho riscoperti tempo dopo e me ne sono innamorato. Mi hanno fatto conoscere tante canzoni nella loro versione che trovo fantastica.
Peter, thank you for the beautiful music and memories you've given us.
I pray comfort and peace for your family with your recent passing away.🙏😢❤️🤗
RIP Viele Songs meiner Jugend die ich liebe.
the hammer of justice and the bell of freedom
"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" sang FIRST with Peter, Paul, & Mary!!!!

PETER PAUL AND MARY
- Some Of The Best
Thier unchanging lyrics
reflect even today's
current sentiments of:
sadness, love & hope.
R ❤️ 🙏 🌞
Peter died on January 7th, 2025.
You do know that Peter was convicted of molesting a 14 year old girl in 1970!
Jimmy Carter pardoned him in 1981, the day before he left office!
ONE OF THE GREATEST OF MY YOUTHNESS. I LOVE YOU GUYS.
This video is highly valuable as a record of sorts reflecting certain innocence and greatness in America’s culture past. The songs are still my favorites for decades, but always mindful of the melancholy of some.
Such feeling in Marys voice on Leaving on a Jet plane....
sigh some the earliest music for me of those times
Childhood memories....the first song brought tears to my eyes....beautiful ❤
Thx for reminding me
My pleasure .. Merry Christmas !!
Could there be a more beautiful song? This version is something so...💛 500 miles....
Thank you só much.
One of my best in my life. The best
I'm very happy that I got to see them at Brown University when I was in high school. Mighty crush on Mary! Bass player in the shadows. Then much later in Maine around the birth of WERU they played occasionally til Mary passed.
I remember my mother had this album - we’d play it on the Curtis Mathis “high fidelity ” stereo console in the living room. I’ve always had a life long admiration and love for Peter Paul and Mary reminds me of the good times in the ‘60’s. Mother’s been gone for 10 years now but she’s with me now listening to PP&M.
I still have this album on vinyl - plus 7 or 8 other PP&M records. It is a shame they let politics get in the way of beautiful music.
They have already decided where they will spend all Eternity. ( I too loved their music, as I was amazed to learn that they were no longer with us....maybe they will sing for us wherever they are!) You need to decide where you are spending the future!
Best kind of voices together love PPnM 4 ever ❤
A friend lent me one of his PP&M records. I played it constantly. My dad got me a cheap 30$ guitar for Xmas my junior year of high school. 6 months later I had the strings worn out on the verge of breaking with no knowledge of where to get new ones or how to do so, but I almost had 500 Miles figured out to play on that guitar. I wanted to be a damn folk singer like a couple of friends. Could we become a folk trio like some of those folk groups we found records of ? Damned if we didn't give it a try knowing very little about music. We had a lot of fun.
PPM ♥♪ Praise & Thanks♪ RIP Mary 2010. RIP Peter January 2025. ♪
RIP Peter Yarrow
Thank you Pete!
My pleasure!
Thank you for that vidéo it's very nice un originale version ....🇺🇸 j'entends siffler le train..de Richard Antony en France rip Richard
Miss U Peter 😇
always enjoyed their music
Go see “A Complete Unknown” - Peter, Paul and Mary are threaded and mentioned constantly through the background scenes. - especially Peter in the Newport Folk festival climax.
Wonderful!!!
Many thanks!!
R.I.P. Peter
Mary had great lips!
Love them 💕
Absolutely great, thank you.
Thank you Mel ..and thanks to PPM !!
Love PPnM
Nichts Eitles, sehr schlicht. Schön, und danke fürs Video !
Frohe Weihnachten 2024
Glad they lived up to your expectations Douglas ..A very merry Christmas to you and your family too !! :)
Fine music.
Before Bob Dylan there was PPnM before Joan Baez there was Mary Travers n before them all was the Weavers On Top of old Smoky 😂 ❤ Folk USA forever ❤
😅泣けてきます。😭🙏💐💐💐💐
Perfecto música for ever
That was real education about American folk singers, I have never listened to many songs by Peter, Paul and Mary because I didn't like the first one or two that I heard, but there are some nice songs here Pete. Thanks for sharing them 🤗😍🥰❤
Thank you Eileen ..when I started to compile it ..I hadn't heard half of the songs myself ..and was surprised just how great some of the lesser known ones were. :) Happy weekend !!
@@peteroberts4033 Yes indeed, they are very good singers and songs 🎵🎶👍👍❤️❤️
Am I the only one who had a crush on Mary in the 60’s? Stuck in the 60’s and thank god I can’t get out. Your channel is Greater than great. Helps me make it through the day. Thanks for sharing.
