    Thank you. I have been skeptical due to no peer-reviewed medical research and self serving “research “ by the company. I have seen this book, but was reluctant about it being written by a chiropractor. Although I have benefited in the past from chiropractor treatments, I was always skeptical when they were given medical advice. I was happy to hear this chiropractor not supporting a product because of lack of medical research. His comments support what my thinking has been so thanks for sharing this.

    Having taken Strontium citrate for 18 years I can attest to the fact it has done no harm and my bones have remained strong following a couple of accidental challenges aka falls. I know of two other people who have taken Strontium nearly as long with the same results.
    P.S. carry a flashlight when walking after dark. ;-)

      Thank you. I have been taking strontium citrate for possibly the last 5 years, along with many other bone-helpful supplements. After watching this video, I want to stop but I'm afraid to. You have made me feel a lot better! And the strontium I take was prescribed by a functional MD, and I take it separately from my calcium supplement.

    I don't understand how density from strontium citrate can be "lost" like you're suggesting. It's not like the drugs that are designed to increase osteoblast activity like Prolia, which promotes creation of bone. Yes, stopping Prolia means you'll lose what you gained. But from the literature I've read on strontium citrate, it's like calcium in that it settles in your bones, and in fact strontium is known to stay for a minimum of 9 YEARS once ingested. I'd be more worried about what the body does with excess strontium etc.

    I have taken the Liver Doctors Bone Build Calcium and Strontium for years, now I'm waiting 2 hours after the calcium blend to take the strontium. Falls with no breaks! Weight lifting on Total Gym and long walks - can't wait for my next dexa. VERY USEFUL to know it's best not to STOP taking Strontium!

    What are your thoughts on the Echolight ultrasound bone scans??? I had one done and although I have osteoporosis, my quality phone was in the good category. I’m very petite and have very small bones. I’m working on naturally reversing it with nutrition, supplements and weight, bearing exercise.

      Had REMS and results were better than DEXA. Im 5 ft tall, 94 pounds and 72 yo. My endo is totally against the results of this scan and insists on osteoporosis drugs…..don’t know what to do. I went from lumbar -3.9 to -3.2 on REMS and dense bones. I walk, exercises like Margaret’s, and some supplements. will have to get Dr. Keiths book. Want to get down to at least osteopenic.

    Hi Margaret, thank you for the video on Strontium. Currently I am taking the Garden of Life Raw Calcium. It has 3.8 mg of Strontium ( naturally occurring from algae). I don't know if that's any better . Also I'm curious about ( Boron).

    Hi! I have osteoporosis and I'm 56. My doc wants me to see a specialist about ProLiant, which I don't feel comfortable with. I was looking at New Chapter organic algae calcium. It has strontium in it. Would it be ok to take in a calcium supplement?

    There is a radioactive isotope of strontium, strontium-90, which is what they don't want in water. This is not the strontium in supplements.

    • @jmc8076
      @jmc8076 Рік тому

      TBF @ 4:49 she says ‘other forms. Agreed. Sr90 only found in water after reactor leak. Diff forms of it do leak into public water ways thru soil/land erosion (usually Sr nitrate and Sr chloride.) Supplement can be Sr citrate, gluconate and lactate. All get into drinking water and other water thru home esp toilets via urine as do all drug residue.

    Over a year ago, a functional medicine practitioner recommended that I take strontium, along with other supplements, for my osteoporosis. She said it would avoid the possible negative side effects of taking too much calcium. At the time, I couldn’t find much information about it, so I followed her recommendation. Recently, however, I have read and heard negative information about taking strontium. How does one safely stop taking it so that risk of fracture does not increase as a result?

    • @coopergates9680
      @coopergates9680 Рік тому +1

      Was the negative information focused on strontium ranelate or any other particular compound, not arbitrary forms of strontium?

    Given the state of a lot of bones I wonder why more studies haven’t been done. Re it lowering bone quality, I’ve heard, don’t know if accurate, that’s the same deal with the fosomax’s etc.

    • @shazben9822
      @shazben9822 5 місяців тому

      This morning I should have taken my alendronic acide I’m think this is fosomax?
      Well Iv decided to stop taking mine because I’m almost certain it is causing me more back pain
      I had two severe wedge fracture earlier last yr which caused my kyphosis and height loss
      Where the fracture were at T6/7 it was painful and especially if i was coughing it felt like I was being stabbed in the back
      But it did calm down after around 10/11 months
      Then in December I started taking alendronic acid
      My rheumatologist wants me to take zoldronate acid infusion 1 a yr for 3 yrs which I was due to have started in March but to be honest I was to scared to because of the risk of it affecting my jaw as I know I need dental work
      I can’t get in a dentist on the nhs here in England at the moment so Iv put of having it
      Well Iv been on the tablet now since December and the pain is just getting worse and worse in not only my back but also my hips groins stomach
      The pain is a burning pain which drive me mad
      I have lost muscle mass and I’m weak because I can’t do all the excersize I need due to having severe emphysema which causes me extreme breathlessness
      I’m getting short walk around my litte house do heel drops small squats and try to leg raise but they shake when I try to lift and hold
      I’m eating chia seeds with porridge every morning
      Adcocado half at lunch with two boiled eggs and most days a tin of sardines or tuna , salmon
      Evening I’m eating stir fry’s or
      Sweet potatoes brasied steak with veg
      I eat 6 prune most days and figs because I am very constipated
      But it’s not really helping
      I’m trying my best with the diet
      I also have ensure shakes just to give that little extre nutrients
      I eat chicken quite often to and Greek yogurt which Iv started putting frozen fruit in
      It’s so difficult because my lungs inflate and don’t leave much room and appetite is almost not there because I already feel so full and bloated
      But I can only do my best and get in what I can
      I need something in Suppliment form to make up for what I’m not eating
      I’m not taking the alendronic acid for now I’m keeping of it to see if my pain improves? I’m convinced it that which is causing all this burning
      I have to lay flat on my back to relieve it abit but that’s not helping with fitness or my breathing
      Any advise on what supplements I could try
      I’m on statins
      Blood thinners because I had a stroke
      Colestrol
      And of course me medication for the emphysema which are inhalers
      Maintenance antibiotic
      And murphine which I take very little of and stick to paracetamol
      My lanzoprazole I don’t take daily anymore after I read they can cause osteoporosis
      I was on omaprazole for almost 20 yrs ?
      So beware of these drugs

    Interesting...so is this vid instead pro taking pharmaceuticals then like Prolia, Reclast, Boniva pills etc.?
    Holistic Dr's have advised supplements including Strontium Citrate...with apparent success not just with the dexa scans but with the markers...Either way, it seems to be a gamble...

    Since Dexa only measures density, not quality, how do you know Strontium Citrate does not improve bone quality? There are no studies proving otherwise. We typically use Dexa to determine whether someone has Osteopenia and Osteoporosis, and people often start therapy based on Dexa alone. I think it is a big jump to claim Strontium Citrate does not improve bone quality. You really don't know. Perhaps we need a better method for measuring bothe density AND quality. Again, Dexa is "low dose" x-ray and ONLY measures density.
