In preparation for my graduate thesis paper, I am writing bullet points and outlines at night that guide my work for the following day. It helps me to clear my head, and gives me peace of mind before going to sleep. Unless I stare at it too hard...then I start working again. Hey, I'm not perfect.
Wish I had watched this videos 5 days ago, now I get what they mean by cutting things up into manageable pieces. Researching has always overwhelmed me. Once you're an expert in something though the writing itself comes easy. Great video though, Zotero looks like an amazing tool. Procrastination is a whole other issue I need to work on... 😅
Writing a paper is harder when it's not an "assignment" and hence the goal is unclear, especially if you DON'T want to include some main conclusion that is being saved for a broader paper, and the current paper is 'just' a foundation stepping stone. Any tips for that?
Writing a lengthy paper is not always easy, but it's doable. Here's how I write 10 pages in a day: 1. I do the preparations. You may be inclined to start writing as soon as possible, but believe me, ten to twenty minutes spent compiling a plan can save you, at least, a few hours’ worth rewriting and corrections. 2. Segmenting the work. I take enough time to divide the writing process into segments, dedicating each of them to a particular stage of your work. I determine how much time I expect to take for every stage. For example, reading the sources - 2 hours, writing - about an hour per two pages. I like to have some cool music on while writing and to take a break every two hours. It's an efficient tactic to avoid burnout. 3. I use specialized search tools to look for references. Want to avoid losing extra time? Don’t hesitate to use the most effective searching means. Some of the best (from those that are not discipline-specific) are Google Scholar, Elsevier, CiteThisForMe, and EBSCO. These arrange the citations in various styles, including MLA, APA, Havard, etc. This saves me lots of time. HEY... In case you still get stuck along the way, email maryjoykimmy@gmail.com and you will get excellent assignment writing help. This is also for those who are too busy, having little to no time to write essays. Don't hesitate, go ahead and send an email
Question, I used Scrivner over the last round of classes, but couldnt seem to get the notecards to work like I see in your videos. Is it a function of the Mac version? I have windows.... Great tips, as always! I learned to do the notecard method in high school, handwriting each one on physical cards. Now I am trying to transition the method to digital.
It should be the same across platforms as far as I know. The way I get them to show up is to select all the little pages on the left side that I want to show up as notes (they need to all be in the same subsection) and then I press command, 2 (maybe control on windows?) and they display as notecards. Have you tried that?
You explained very well, I have a request could you please create a video you show us how to organize our highlighted notes and how you use Zotero basically an illustration of Day 4
It's very problematic to find out content for Introduction part. You need to arrange all the write-up in one direction, with avoiding plagiarism, which requires much more time. It generally takes half pages a day. Can you tell me how can I increase my write-up Speed.

Write your introduction & abstract after you have cover the literature reviews or topical discussion.
