Just visited her today. The girl is simply gorgeous in person. She's the first warship I've ever set foot on, and I'm proud that my first was the most legendary ship in my country's history, as well as one which a family member - my great uncle - actually served on. Looking forward to the Naval Legends video.
As a Sea Cadet back in the early 80's, I got the opportunity to serve in Haida doing some training and maintenance when she was at Ontario Place. The biggest thrill though was getting to load and fire her main guns. It was with blanks of course, but still a rush for a 15 year old kid. I guess if they're doing a naval legends video we might actually get to see her as a premium in the game!
I was RCSCC Haida xD
I am currently a cadet at RCSCC Vanguard an loving it :D
Would be silly not to make this a premium. As a fellow Canadian i would buy this.
Can't wait to see HMCS Haida in WoW.
I really hope we see this in the game! I live close to the HMCS Haida and my Grandpa served on her too. I'm glad to know a Naval Legends video will be coming our way but i am still hopeful to actually one day captain her in game.
Cannot wait to see this Naval Legends! Thanks Chase!
:D you're welcome Vanessa
HI LOVE
Haida confirmed! *Hype intensifies*
Implying we'll see it before the moon deorbits itself xD
Awesome to see you and The Chieftain linking up for some of this stuff. He was here in Pensacola, Florida not too long ago. They were doing some work at the Naval Aviation Museum on NAS Pensacola. Wished I had a chance to speak with him, but knowing they were working, I quickly and quietly shimmied past them with a nod and quick salute.
I would have had a chat during a break in the takes...
so glad to have found this My late Father served on Her in WW II He was on the commissioning crew and served till the end of the war , He was good friends with the Capt the men adored Hard Over Harry , My dad said She was a lucky ship ...
oh this made my day. can't wait to see it.
:D I'm very happy to have heard this ^^ can't wait to see it also
I've been waiting for this one. Thanks, Chase! I've toured the ship four times - it's always a great time.
Great video Keep em up!
Not only is this Behind the Sean's but it's also a Preview.
Went to visit this ship about a month ago. Very humbling experience.
IChase you never cease to amaze, thank you very good episode. Will have to make my way home to Canada to see this ship.
Thanks for this video. I've been wanting to revisit haida for a while as the first time i was working in Hamilton and quickly breezed it due to lack of time. I will however revisit Hms Belfast in October. Last year i was lucky and had perfect weather for my photography of uss North Carolina .
Looks like _Haida_ will be making her way into the Premium Shop down the road.
Maybe :P maybe not. They do sometimes just make it for the historical info
Would be cool to see it in-game atleast so we can always hope. Perth needs some commonwealth company I think :)
It would be pretty inexplicable if they *don't* sell Haida as a premium. Wargaming clearly likes doing museum ship premiums, and there's nothing about Haida that would make her difficult to implement.
Yeah I hope they do make her in game i would totally get her
That was Awesome , so much work goes in to those vids, I didnt know . Thank you Chase
I know Haida well, having served on the base where she is now stationed for many years. Still live about 15 min away. Can't wait for her to be put in game.
That sucks about that warehouse being torn down, its been empty for years.
1stpogo I live about a ten minute drive away and I see it all the time on bike rides along the waterfront, tis quite the site
(Sight)
Hey iChase! I'm just finding this video now. I enjoyed your perspective on this shoot. Happy to have met you at the Anchors Away! event at HMCS Haida a couple years ago (already!?). Keep up the great work!
This is a beautiful ship, thanks iChase for introducing me to her in your other video.
Really nice video Chase - it gives good insight into the process, and also gives a good look at the ship herself. I'm hoping to get to Ontario at some point to look at her (from the UK!). I'm about to start building a scale model of HMS Eskimo, a sister ship of the Haida, and it would be great to get a good look around the only surviving Tribal DD in the world. Hopefully we get one in the game at some point - whether that's a premium HMCS Haida, or a tech-tree HMS Cossack/Afridi/etc.
I Love Naval Legends and how Wargaming is really trying to get the details. Wish it would run through out the company as well.
Hehehe Oops! the torpedo launch thing made me laugh. Amazing history there mate, thank you.
thanks inhale for bringing this to us. I enjoyed it
I live in Hamilton and have been visiting this ship since I was 8 so this is really cool
The Fact is WW2 Canadian ships where in he fight with the Brits so who know but be nice to see one in in game.
Awesome! thanks for the video Chase.
looking forward to seeing her in the 🎮
Just spent the day on the ship. Video went up yesterday, had to wait to watch it to avoid spoilers! Main guns were under maintenance and the whole bow was roped off. Which was disappointing. However they did test fire the guns! Glad I came down.
I really look forward to another episode.
I suggested a Canadian Tribal class Destroyer as one of the Commonwealth class several months ago. I am really happy that its going to come to Fruition soon and called my Dad tonight who served on her sister ship, the Nootka as 2'd in charge of Radio room. Looking forward to see what she can do in battle and what level they class her......being as Tribals went into mid to late 60's, I would say Lvl 8-10
Visited HMCS Haida this Sept 5th, 2019. Awesome stuff. She's a beauty! Took well up to (maybe over) 300 images because of how semi-difficult it is to get her, and could only manage it just that "once". She's so beautiful wishing Canadians treated her with more respect. She's rusting, but she's beautiful. Interior, exterior. Everything.
It's nice to see her finally respected in World of Warships, now we need to keep seeing her in other WW2 games without the excuses. Wish to see her in Azur Lane with the HMCS designation, not HMS. I hope someone with influence can assist with adding HMCS Haida & the Canadians into more WW2 naval games for history purposes. Education :)
So it's been over 3 months since iChase posted this and even longer since they were filming. So..... When will we see the ship and video released? Enough of the italian and australian ships already. We Canadians are asking for just one ship
8:17 All that rain in the distance.
NICE! HMCS Haida making me happy we have some Canadian naval pride to now have fun with in World of Warships. I'm curious, what about HMCS Uganda/Quebec, and even HMCS Ontario (Minotaur class) light cruisers.
Moored in Hamilton Ontario, This video really doesn't do her justice. I've been on her and she is amazing. Of course, being 2017 = Canada's 150th year since confederation means anyone who has the parks Canada pass can go to her for free.
Heya, countryman! So glad to hear about this, but that said... it's been 9 months. There is a part of me that is afraid the filming issues they faced might've caused an issue. Have you heard whether or not the Naval Legends on the HMCS Haida is still going to be released?
The hype is real!
Great video, Chase! WOWS Blitz players would love to see Haida since Blitz was soft-launched in Canada. Do you think you could relay this to the dev teams?
She sure is a beautiful ship. I wonder if this means we'll ever see her accompanying HMAS Perth in the Commonwealth tree?
thank you for the vid
that was awesome, I wouldn't mind seeing other behind the scenes videos if you can get permission from WG. that is certainly something I cant say others are doing right now and I would love to see more about how things work or are made behind the scenes.
I have toured this ship 3 times. I love it. but have never had a guided tour
Chase you didn't mention the team that's gonna make the 3D model around the ship and stuff when explaining gun caliber and range and stuff
A new ship for the commonwealth tree!
I'm going to Haida on 12 August. My dad served on her as a cadet twice. Anyone considering going, it's Canada's 150th birthday so free admission.
Finally PLEASE WG PUT HER IN GAME!!!!! SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!! XD
Captain Griffin Had someone serve on it.
I don't think they ever released the HMCS Haida video. Someone pls link it if I am wrong.
My grandfather served on this ship She was the true train killer.
A bit weird that we now watching behind the scenes before the Doc. itself!!
But very nice...
>they still haven't made the naval legends video
REEEEEEEEEEEEE
When is the episode going to be released?
uhhh, nice
Any clue when this naval legends episode will be released? I've been looking forward to it for years. I also really want a premium ship of her in WoWs.
BTW adding video to my favourites. It really got my hopes up!
TIL: Torpedoes are fired by shotgun shells
Ichase when is your next stream?
Can we expect in WoWs some more Commonwealth ships of different types, like a battleship and destroyer? We got Perth so far, would be nice to have some others too
MG Todeskult
That would be nice to see. Wouldnt mind seeing the HMAS Canberra in the game eventually personally. HMAS Canberra was detached to the US Navy on patrol in the waters off Guadalcanal and during the engagement on Aug 9, 1942, was heavily damaged and immobilized. Abandoned and still adrift, listing and on fire, she was scuttled by two US Destroyers. The US Navy in turn, to honor the lost ship and her sailors, named a Baltimore class cruiser after her. The only ship in the US Navy's history to be named after a foreign city.
I want a whole fleet, a premium Tech tree xD just to boost free exp and credit gains.
Honestly, one of the stuff WG do right, the Naval Legend series.
WE MIGHT ACYIVATE -IT AGAIN
I like it
Whoo
I served onHaida 1962
chase do you have any idea of when it will be out?
No idea >< they sometimes make episodes like this just for history
thanks
Why don't the wows teams make a Canadian tech tree. Canada played a major part in both world wars too.
The RCN didn't really have many ships within the class levels the game focuses on. We had a couple of escort carriers in WWII (HMCS Nabob and HMCS Puncher, both British Ruler class ships,) along with the HMCS Ontario (British Minotaur class light cruiser,) and the HMCS Quebec (Initially named Uganda, and was a Crown Colony Class light cruiser of British design.) There were the Tribal class DDs, which were built to Canadian specifications, but the remainders were British A, C, D, E, F, G, and V classes, along with some cast-off former US hulls (Wickes and Clemson classes.) But everything else was frigate and corvette-sized ships, along with coastal patrol craft and gateships/minesweeps. All are too small to be relevant in the game. Canada didn't start designing and building purely Canadian ships until the 50s, and even then, the first was the St. Laurent Class Frigates. In WWI, same issue. Only 2 out-of-date cruisers (HMCS Rainbow, laid down in 1889, an Apollo-class protected cruiser; HMCS Niobe, laid down in 1895, a Diadem class Class One Protected Cruiser,) and everything else was smaller than a DD. In the interwar years, we had 2 DDs transferred to us in 1920 (HMCS Patriot and the HMCS Patrician, both Thornycroft M-Class DDs from Britain,) and one cruiser, the HMCS Aurora (Arethusa-class light cruiser, laid down in 1912.) So, basically, we should have some premiums representing better-known ships of our fleets, but you couldn't make a line of any of the four-classes WoWS presently focuses on.
THERE ALSO ONE THING-THAT SHIP WAS FAST
lol you made cheiften hould the penguin lol
it had better be available soon. the Maple syrup and beer in my blood is begining to boil...
I've been begging wargaming for HMCS haida for a year now, I hope to god they put her in, wargaming just gimme my Destroyer and take my money!!!!
HEY THATS A NASTY SHIP
Hamilton Ontario,
Don't count on seeing this in the game anytime soon, Parks Canada is not letting them use the Haida over licensing issues, to bad, I know there is a desire for this ship to in. As soon as I type this in I bet I'll be proven wrong, which is what I'm hoping for
I think that guy was just hard to hear, I could barely understand him inside talking about the lack of ships motto.
First....
YAY HAIDA! but fuck Hamilton, its been cleaned up but its still a dump xD. Can't wait for Her Premium, I will be disappointed if she is not. Canada has a couple notable ships as do all the Commonwealth Nations. Besides imagine that national pride money WarGaming can drag in.
A Crying Shame and Disgrace to moor Her in a Hamilton back harbor , She Deserves to be Front and Center . Move Her back to Toronto harbor .
