  • In September 2016, HMCS Haida went into dry-dock to undergo repairs to her hull. These repairs will help stop moisture seepage and rusting, and ensure the continued structural and cultural integrity of this national treasure for future generations.
HMCS Haida has returned to Pier 9 in Hamilton, Ontario and can be visited from May-September:

Glad to see she is being taken care of. She is one of a kind and an irreplaceable and important piece of WW2 and Canadian history.

They could add the HMCS Athabaskan next to it! The last of the Iroquois class destroyer is on it's way to Ontario to be cutted right now...

This is a WW2 Tribal Class.
The Athabaskan you are referring to was built in 1972.

I"m glad I visited HMCS Haida this Sept 5th. She's a beauty that I'm glad Canadians decided to save her. Wish we saved more vessels though, such as HMCS Magnificent, HMCS Uganda & HMCS Ontario, among others. Not all, just one of each, or something. We're honestly too shy about our history, yet glad I was able to visit HMCS Haida. She's a beauty.
On a sidenote: I do hope she's given full Canadian acknowledgement in a game called Azur Lane. May be a weird game to those not into anime, yet would still pay respects as World of Warship does to HMCS Haida. Even a game called 'Atlantic Fleet' which can be found on a platform called 'Steam' (Valve). Azur Lane is a mobile game. If we do see HMCS Haida in Azur Lane she would be a part of the 'Maple Monarchy', or so noted. Need to poke Yostar, the gaming company handling Azur Lane.

I'd love to have her and her sisters in the game, but also isn't HMCS Magnificent a britsh air craft carrier made and not Canadian made?

@@vothbetilia4862 British made, Canadian operated. Canadians ended up using her more than the British making her more Canadian than British, or so wiki also seems to claim.

@@ArcticuKitsu interesting, so that goes for any other ships like Magnificent.

Recently enlightened to a petition regarding the HMCS Haida, I have to say: I'm entirely for making the HMCS Haida the ceremonial flagship of the Royal Canadian Navy, and I'm entirely for commissioning a commemorative coin (marking the 75th anniversary of the Haida's commissioning, not Canada's 150th!), but if Parks Canada ever considered relocating the Haida to Ottawa as suggested in said petition, Hamilton will show you why "Canada's Fightingest Ship" fits right in here!

Out of curiousity how would you move HMCS Haida to Ottawa? Aren't there dams and bridges in the way for her to reach Ottawa?
If she can, I'd support it 100%. I would try visiting her more often if she was in Ottawa.
