    As a Canadian his music is part of my life's soundtrack.The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is a great song about a tragic event on the Great lakes and honours those men that died on that ship.

    I’m a Canadian millennial and got into listening to Gordon Lightfoot during the pandemic, his songs were so beautiful and he will be dearly missed.

    His music reached down to San Diego to a refuge family from Vietnam. And when I think of singer-songwriters, I can't help but think of his song, "If You Could Read My Mind". What a master painter in terms of writing. Thank you, Mr. Lightfoot, for creating beautiful works as you have that move the human spirit. "Beautiful" is a song for which I can only imagine what the love of my life - if I were to ever be lucky enough to have - would feel like.

    I am a Canadian and his music was part of my life for as long as I can remember. We have lost 2 great Gordon from Canada since a couple of years: Gord Downie (Gordon Edgar Downie) and Gordon Lightfoot. Their music will continue to live in our hearts! ❤❤❤❤

      @@scillyautomatic yes, no doubt. Seen an old man with a big grey beard and a cane hunched over walking to the stage. Almost 80 now, but still sounded good. His first two albums were so good, he was never able to top them. He music was made on observation on his own travels.

    I grew up with my dad playing his albums, this is the music of my childhood. I’ve seen him multiple times in concert. RIP Gordon.

      The church mentioned in Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, on his passing, rang the bell 30 times. 29 for the men and 1 for Gordon Lightfoot

    I wonder how Rick Haynes feels now that Lightfoot is gone? He was with him forever. Red Shea, Terry Clements and John Stockfish have all died.

    Greatly saddened when I heard last night. I often listen to all his albums in a row and end with his great box set. Hours and hours of great songs. Rest in peace, Gordon. Thank you for what you've left us.

    I am a fan of heavy metal and punk rock, but I grew up listening to Gordon Lightfoot. I'm really sad he's gone now.

    As a Canadian metal musician. I have been moved by Gordon's music, stories, and emoting.

    RIP Gordon. I grew up listening to his music in the 70's. I do not know which of his songs is my favorite because I just love them all. My heart broke a little when I heard he passed. Rest in Peace. Thank you for your music. You were loved by many.

    Growing up in Canada during the 70's Gordon's music inspired me just like the sin rising every morning. A true Beam of Soul fire that fuelled my life.

    My grandparents introduced me to his music when I was a kid and have so many memories of listening to his music. I am so thankful I got the chance to listen to his music. He is truly one of if not the best singer/songwriter ever !! I wish I could’ve gotten to see him in concert. RIP legend, thank you for everything !! Thank you for making my childhood great !

    I'm relatively young for this music and I'm not at all Canadian, but I loved Gordon Lightfoot since I discovered him in the Live 8 concert of 2005. Then I realized that some of the songs of Peter, Paul and Mary that I used to listen were actually his. Rest in peace Sir, you're a legend.

    I'm Canadian and he was born in Orillia, Ontario about an hour and a half north of Toronto. His songs are like a story, history here in Canada. He will be missed by many of his fans who bought millions of his records. His music lives always on our speakers.

    Gord is a legend. We went to see him play several years ago in his hometown Orillia, Ontario. I’ve been a fan since the 70s and I’m glad we saw him play.

    A great artist. Finally got to see him live in 2005 and again in 2006. Was hoping to see him one more time...a true legend and outstanding songwriter and great voice.

      In many ways he was "Hybrid Country." His genre was from a very "Northern" based perspective vs. the mainstream Country coming out of Nashville.

    One of my all-time favorite recording artists; I've been listening to him since the early 70's. His lyrics were absolutely first-rate, and in his performances he treated them with the care they deserved. (U.S. fan but with the greatest respect for Canadian music.)

    Lightfoot was a spectacular musical genius. His writing was great, his guitar playing was great and his voice was great. He even looked gorgeous. There was no one else with his talent and it's sad that he's gone. But his music is still here and that's more than most of us can claim.

    Been a fan since my friend John Condon Introduced me to his music in the late 60s. My daughter got me his last Vynil record for Christmas 2022 Gordon Lightfoot 'solo' recorded in 2020. Rest in Peace my musical friend.

    Such a talent. Mt folks had been invited to the 10th anniversary mass of the sinking of the Edmund fitzgerald, and Hordon played the song in person. My parents, dad a ships captain, felt so honored to attend the mass at Mariners Chappel.

    My dad hipped me to Gordon without knowing he did when I was about 5 or 6 yrs old.He has since past away.I'm 61 thanks dad.
