- Allen's going to build an LDO Milo kit! Find out about the machine designed by Millenium Mills and how you can get one from West 3D!
*Correction* The usable X axis is 340mm, there is a dead zone at each end of the bed
Here are some of the products mentioned in the video:

Give it a carousel tool changer and tool coolant and I’m there. If you’re cutting aluminium you could really do with some sort of coolant. As soon as heat builds up on the tool, the Ali can weld itself to the cutter which ends in bad times.
if you have some acsual experience with these types of machines, you know this is bs....
yes lubrication is nice, but if you print a chipfan and use proper endmills (dlc, zr or polished) 1 or 3 flutes its ZERO problems
and a ATC will more than double the investment into a milo (the spindle , toolholders, toolrack, multiple collets.... you are looking at 3-4 grand at least , so no not in question
and its not as usefull on these machines as inproduction machines... you mostly run one offs on these, so you have tonpay attention anyways
Glad to see that you are also doing a build series, I think it will be very helpful. I ordered a batch 1 from you so hopefully I can build it with you and learn as we go. Thanks and good luck!
Thanks, looking forward to seeing how your build goes
You have my interest! I'm thinking about getting this kit. I'll also be watching Steve & Taylor build theirs.
I’m looking forward to your build series. Steve and Nero both have certain experiences and offer a certain perspective. But, as someone who’s, also, never done any machining, your journey will be exciting. I’ve wanted to play with CNC, and metal lathes for a long time. My issue is that I live in a small apartment. Noise is a big concern. Hopefully you’ll be able to address that part. I might be restricted from getting some TV one like this, because…small, old apartment. No chance of running 220v. No chance of upgrading the wiring. I guess I’ll just have to live vicariously through other makers.
Thanks, I'm looking into enclosure options to help with the noise and chip containment
This was a really great intro - I subbed to see more, and will be building along as well!
We'll be following your build log on the Millennium server!
Looking forward towards your trials and tribulations as you take on this adventure.
I prefer the non-streaming smaller, sectional videos. It's hard to follow or find specific things when it's 4 hours long.
It's been about a decade since I've done DIY CNC. Back then the firmware and software was primitive compared to Klipper and friends, so I'll be interested to see how that's developed.
Looking forward to whatever you choose to do on this. Will be getting a batch 2 kit. Would like to get the enclosure when that is available.
Check in videos highlighting hang ups and challenges would be great.
lets go!
any more info on your spindle choice? wish kit came in a 220 option
It's this one: www.omc-stepperonline.com/220v-2-2kw-80x193-5mm-air-cooled-spindle-motor-and-3hp-2-2kw-12-5a-variable-frequency-drive-kit-vsk-ar2-2b
@west3d how much was the additional parts (spindle and VFD) that you self sourced
$280 including shipping from China
Videos on how to use the machine.
I'm hoping to (once i figure out how!)
I sent you guys an email and a instagram message but didn't hear but from you guys.
