- A major question among Kaiju No 8 Fans is: what is the origin of Kaiju No 8? Who or what is the unnamed flying Kaiju, and why was Kafka chosen. Well, I think I figured it out after revisiting a detail from chapter 66 of the manga. What we found will blow your mind!
I always thought his Kaiju form looked suspiciously similar to a samurai, like his head is literally a Kabuto 😂

I like this theory. Cuz the unknown kaiju is a bug, Kabuto is a beetle, and a samurai's helmet is called a kabuto.
The plating of Kaiju No 8's shell is similar to that of an O-yoroi, the traditional armor of a samurai minus the cloth and draping. And as you mentioned, the head and mask mimic the look of a Kabuto and Menpo respectively.
What I had in my mind is the MC in the Hakaiju Monster is the armor guy,,,,

@@taurussho86either it’s a bloodline thing like the video suggests, or it’s similar to Symbiotes from Marvel, where certain people are more compatible than others and it simply meant it had found someone with a high compatibility, which could still very well be bloodline related.
The Shinomiya fight blurs the lines like Robin Thicke. They're both humans using Kaiju to fight. So that makes the "kill Kaiju" line not so straightforward.

My man this is what keeps the anime series alive and going. That theory of investigating is so freaking hype and exciting. The samurai honor of accepting a duel and not ending it until either person is dead or concedes is why he can't control the kaiju form in his execution scene.
I have my own actually, I remember at this chapter where Kafka was listening to his commander story at the commanders home? I think... anyway it was about how the commander ancestors fight against Kaiju in the past with lack of technology, and few moments later that "Ghostly Samurai" Popout out of nowhere right? How come? Now my theory is that the "Ghost" Is actually Kaiju number 8 and its previous owner at the Shogun era, like if normal human in modern era cant fight against small Kaiju, how come they fight back and survive at that point? Well it must be another Kaiju user like Kafka, and the "Ghost" Is maybe the commander ancestors that has the Kaiju power or Kaiju number 8 it self, and when the Kaiju said "I found you" Maybe the Kaiju need some specific person to be its wielder like how he choose the commander ancestors or any other person in the past that we don't know yet. So the Kaiju number 8 power can only be used by some certain people like how Avatar can only be chosen by certain person. what yall think about this theory of mine?
It's possible that Kaiju no8 is the samurai who showed to Kafka in the shrine in that time and probably the martial stance that the hoshina clan uses is somewhat came from the samurai who was using it at that time. Also for some reason, the Kaiju saying "I found you" has a lot of meaning, saying that it could be Kafka's ancestor was the only user of Kaiju no8 or a potential user just like in the MHA plot where deku is somewhat a potential user of one for all etc. And adding also the fact that in the manga, they said that the user of number weapons have sometimes saw the afterimage of the previous user yet blurred but Kafka's saw the whole figure of the samurai meaning that the user and Kaiju no8 have deep bond since then, not just a perfect pair just how they said when using a number weapon

I like this theory but that time kafka saw that ghost was the time he was training with vice captain hoshina on his family's training grounds so that ghost could very well be Hoshina's ancestor

In my opinion the samurai is a past vessel and ancestor of Kafka because of what kaiju number 8 said "found you " and because the defense force that can numbered weapons can see the memories of previous users or the kaiju itself it's like kaiju number 9 analysis towards kikoru's father's memories so maybe it's true

I was thinking a very similar thought. Maybe not ancestor, but at the very least someone else had the same ability prior to him.
THATS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT
Once they revealed that people see their dead relatives ghosts after using the number weapons they also wore during Kikoru's fight. It just fell together own its own like a puzzle piece by piece. Since the samurai era or whatever was so far away, i think the shrine place strengthened the ghostly thingy. I bet on two possibilities on how he'll meet him again if this theory is correct. One, he goes back there because of a gut feeling (many more possible reasons) or two, the samurai shows up in the place when he went berserk in the small kaijus domain thingy.
To be more specific: kaiju weapons have ghost memories that are sometimes visible, but not always, and not to everyone.
My theory is that some top secret department in the organization made human experiments to create some kind of a super soldier, thus accidentally created the semi Kaijuu spices which merge with humans, although they weren't able to control them so it was terminated.

I read a recent chapter where Kaiju n⁰9 fights and tries to devour Mina, he showed different transformations to her and one of them, was a samurai ( which looked similiarly to this samurai )

Actually might be possible they’re from the age of the dinosaurs or maybe even the beginning of life on earth. The super ancestor and father to all of the kaijus who survived multiple extinction events. That backstory for the kaijus would go hard if it turns out to be true.
That's what I thought too. When they mention the user's ability to see the past memories, my mind immediately went to that scene where Kafka saw a ghostly image of a samurai. It would be awesome if that was the case coz I'm trying to figure out why he was targeted by that winged-kaiju in the first place.😊

The Ghost Samurai could be both Kafka's ancestor and the previous user of Kaiju No 8.
what this theory tells us is that, Kaiju No. 8 did not have any users or vessels ever since that Samurai, until Kafka. And that Kaiju No. 8 specifically chose Kafka because of his lineage and genetics, maybe because his lineage's DNA is compatible with Kaiju No. 8, that's why on the pilot episode, the larvae Kaiju No. 8 said "Found you" to Kafka, telepathically. Meaning Kaiju No. 8 can communicate to Kafka as if he is a Kaiju.
BUT I don't think Kafka is a Kaiju because that would not make sense, as Kaijus would sense or recognize another Kaiju and become hostile to each other.
Kafka can still be a Kaiju hybrid, but he might be carrying Kaiju No. 8's mcDNA factor than makes them compatible hence why No. 8 chose him. But again this does not make Kafka a Half Kaiku, Half Human hybrid. He just carries the right DNA compatible with No. 8.

My take is that yes, a previous user, an ancestor AND WILL ACTUALLY BE A POWER UP for KAFKA with all those old style or techniques specifically with weapons, a technique No. 9 has no direct knowledge of.

I mean, if you got a figure of #8, you'll very easily that how its head is literally a samurai helmet. Also, #8's mask-like face has a crack over its left 8, and the mask of that samurai has a crack over its left eye as well. I honestly think the samurai did some sort of "deal with the devil" to become a monster himself and became #8, but no idea how Kafka's related to that guy lol.

Well my theories is a bit different, that samurai probably is not kafka ancestor, in my theories whoever got a strong determination of defeating all kaiju in this world will inherit the power of kaiju no 8, and when kaiju no 8 said "i found you" maybe he found someone with the same determination as the previous user, just my theories
I had the thought process that Kafka was full blooded human. Now hear me out, I’m not saying that the rest of the cast aren’t human but that in the past generations may have eaten Kaiju.
This especially comes to mind since in the manga it’s stated that kaiju have been around for hundreds if not thousands of years, one famine or drought and a sacrificial elder to see if humans could eat the meat and people would go to desperate lengths to look after themselves and their families, (don’t even get me started on what clan and mercenary culture could be, just look to aztecs and other ones for rituals for taking on the strength of your foes)
But there may have been one area which little to no interaction with the outside world aside from going to out to fight kaiju and as technology progressed and areas previously thought uninhabited are found and brought to the outer world (sts).
I’ve seen in other comments saying that cuz of his low ability score with his suit that no.8 fused with him in a cup empty situation. But what if, as stated before, Kafka was fully human, no kaiju interaction in any of his ancestors at all aside from fighting and killing them?
That or kaiju no.8 was raised by humans as in the past and could only bring out its true power in symbiosis with a human?

I love how fans of the series are doing more lore dives then the Creator himself cuz honestly it feels like he's rushing the story right now. any could have gone a different route in terms of how he writes his story and exploring the lore and history of why kaijus emerge in the first place

Hear me out kaiju #8 is a kaiju that has slain by kaiju #1 the original form of kaiju #8 is quite larger the current one but not as strong as the current one....at the verge of death of kaiju #8 at their battle of Kaiju #1 he manage to escape and transform to a small flying creature to find a host and he need a host that has low power level so the power level of kaiju #8 will overpower the power level of a host that's why kaiju #8 "Found you" and that's how he found a perfect host since the host has low power level so kaiju #8 can control the host....
And if you didn't notice kaiju #8 got controlled over the host Kafka when he sense kaiju #1 and he wanted to kill him
