Lui Kang still retains all his memories from the previous trilogy 9,10 and 11. Hes the only person who is of 2 different timelines besides the villain? who maybe a titan?

I can already see how the Lin Kuei story is gonna play out. I think Scorpion is still Hanzo, Hanzo and Bi-Han come into conflict over the direction Bi-Han has taken the Lin Kue in. Hanzo kills Bi-Han to restore the Lin Kuei to what it once was, but as a result is kicked out of the clan himself due to it with Kuai Liang taking over. With Hanzo being kicked out he founds the Shirai Ryu and vowes to protect Earthrealm, nothing more and nothing less. I could also see them saving this for the game after MK1.
Nah, Bi- han is gonna beat the breaks off of scorpion and scorpion becomes noob. Then kills bi-han. Bi han becomes the actual spectre scorpion. Roles reversed.
This is a fresh take and I think it's pretty interesting. I am really curious about how the Scorpion/Sub-Zero dynamic will go, and same for Kitana/Mileena. Also I really want Onaga back, but Liu's description makes me think maybe he did too good of a job making things peaceful and somehow it pissed Havik off so he's come to mess things up.
That’s a very interesting take! The possibility that maybe Havik is the new big baddie or at least a sub boss like Goro makes me extremely excited to think about.
I feel like it could be a strong possibility that Scorpion in this timeline could be Kuai Liang. He was mentioned by name in one of the character intros. So if he’s not scorpion, we do know Kuai Liang exists here
I think one main lingering point I see that may be true is that Liu Kang's vision of keeping peace throughout his universe might be harmful to the people as they weren't as used to the hardships. It specifically mentions "centuries". Another thing I thought is where the "Mortal Kombat" is, that is the tournament itself, as its the name of the game itself. It would be interesting to see the take on the tournament in this storyline, as who holds it, and why its being held, or if there even is a Mortal Kombat in this universe.

Nah they're blood relatives and this was their original backstory that John Tobias came up with in 1992 but he scrapped the idea. The fact this idea is now being used shows John Tobias worked on this game.

Here's an idea maybe Havoc the main villain of the game. And simply retcon that the chaos and order realms aren't really affected by the time travel or are aware of of everyone messing with it.

Hotaru could see it as the ultimate balance between Order and Chaos, creating a perfect order between the two, order that he desires to see. You could throw in the eventual betrayal and mistrust that Quan Chi and Shang Tsung had too, and eventually see them turn on each other after victory is short lived.
People need to remember Hanzo always “scorpion” bc of his supreme skill with the kunai so they would have to fully retcon that also if they changed his fate
I feel like with the pain and turmoil that Hanzo Hasashi endured and wrongfully inflicted; Liu Kang wanted him to just be happy with his family never becoming involved with anything that led him to become scorpion
This info really does help expand on what we’ve needed in terms of puzzle pieces, yet those very said pieces are heavily reshaped while others like Johnny cage stays relatively close to the two previous timelines. It’s not a mortal kombat we’ll be use to since fire god Liu kang has indeed shifted the board of all once known threats, however its clear as day of what’s happening. IMO Onaga may in fact be reigning now as the lord he truly is without shaos deception of poison. However if reality is indeed threatened this early I can only think of one with a potential to effect the hour glass. Geras, he’s the only suspect as of right now with the potential to threaten his vision of peace as well as bring about his own ripple effects to destabilize a timeline. I know I could be wrong but if Onaga does get to be the big bad he wouldn’t be as powerful as he was in deception. Gotta remember he might still be seeking immortality like in the original before his death.
So here's my theory. It is stated that "Sub-zero" is the grandfather of Bi-Han and Kuia Liang. This is prolly the grandfather. And this Scorpion is prolly the ancestor of Hanzo Hissashi. Maybe since both sub zero and scorpion have different views of the clan, scorpion might leave the Lin Kuia and create Shriya Ryu.

After the tease Cetrion give to us that Liu Kang and Onaga might be related, Onaga MUST be in this game. But don't forget, the other Titans due exist too. I bet they pissed af knowing some mortal end up becoming a God and wield one of their power (Kronika's hourglass). Imagine some twist that Liu Kang had no choice but to work together with Onaga in order to wage war against the Titans this time.

His bio here seem to suggest someone totally new, an enemy that immune to the hourglass. That why Liu Kang cannot foreseen it coming. It does seem like a brand new Titan, or new hierarchy of antagonist. I think Onaga will be in this game as playable character, but the true main antagonist is someone else

As an OG player of MK series, I am really excited to see who is the new threat. As for anything else, we can assume this much as a spoiler: 1. Liu Kang made sure the Great Kung Lao won all MK tournaments. 2. Shao Khan didn't take over any realms due to the Dragon King's army. 3. Queen Sindel left her husband with her daughter to live with Shao Khan. 4. There is a huge war between the Chaos Realm and Order Realm. 5. The Shokan warriors will move to the Earth Realm for a better future. 6. Ediena Realm (spelled wrong) is now trying to gain Elder God support. 7. Kitana is now harder for Liu Kang to romance. Mileena falls in love with a new hero from Earth Realm. 8. Shang Tsung returns from death...again.

I’ve also looked at the backdrop a bit and the trailer seems to show an older era market where they all meet up. There’s a few more clues but just thought I’d put it in your radar
Regarding Liu Kang, he DID fight the Deadly Alliance. Dude just wound up being one of the first two that the Deadly Alliance killed upon Quan Chi and Shang Tsung teaming up.
I really wish fujin and moon saibot are in the game. Raidens brother seems he should be important and as for noob. I looooved the shadow fighting moves. Coolest character powers in Mk11. And then there’s the whole first subzero thing.

Scorpion the name and costume are now a mantle which means anyone can wear it (whether it’s passed down or taken) now from what I googled about the Tekunin could be wrong so correct me if I am but in the original timeline after Sektor's failure to take the Lin Kuei from Sub-Zero, he fled to Japan in order to establish his own ninja clan of cyborgs the Tekunin very similar to the Shirai Ryu so in this timeline where we can get one or both scenarios could happen with the birth of the Shirai Ryu come Hanzo who could take or be given the scorpion mantle
Mortal Kombat 1 is giving off this Marvel vs Capcom 1 vibes i don't know why but it just feels like it along with these new Cameo fighters too.. But it's more like assistant partners.. I'm very excited and waiting until the full game is out and what this new storyline will be told..
NRS hate Kotal Kahn too much to the point where shitting in him feels more acceptable than having him live up to his mkx comics self. I don’t think they are going to do anything with him anytime soon.
This is a intresting insight into Liu Kang. Because he had a part in shapeing this world for the most part. He wanted a better world and this could be how he imagined or hoped by how people would be brought together. So he wanted certain folks too have a simpler life or one that should of been great. But forces that he didn't controle leached out or maybe a subconscious thoughts helped morph things
I think the fact that the great kung lao not being mentioned yet, and your previous lore video is a strong indicator that we're going to be seeing "two" Liu kangs in this story. I'm hoping that NRS has a twist in store for us.
It's interesting that raiden in this timeline seems to want normal quiet life like how kung lao is in original timeline. In that aspect that would make him a blend of Liu kang and kung lao

1 Interesting aspect that I would say is that how this new timeline sets way apart from canon events from previous MK games such as Scorpion not having his family killed and turning into a spectre for Quan Chi or how Mileena is a clone created by Shang Tsung to replace Kitana at one point. I'll do say however I feel bad for Johnny Cage for his arc progression/potential from MK9 to 11 had made him more humble and selfless for others and having a loving family like Sonya & daughter Cassie been washed down the timeline drain and started back to 1 again. That being said however I'm very much interested for this new timeline here where things are shape up differently such as who is the big threat and will there be a tournament of sorts, does the elder gods exist in this timeline and do they know of Liu Kangs resetting the timeline and whats more considering characters that haven't shown up yet how will them be portrayed here!? My moneys on that this new enemy that Liu was not expect it to be could be someone he has never met or even someone Liu knows of and is now a threat to Earthrealm, we're just gonna have to wait and see.

Noob has always been evil but Bi Han as a Human wasn’t in Mythologies you can argue that he didn’t do anything evil but was just a guy doing what he was told by his clan (who mind you adopted him and his brother as children) and even when Raiden told him he had dark in his heart you can see in the cutscene how visibly hurt he was to find that out and i think asked how to get rid of it. Also he tried to save Sareena who he clearly liked
To me, this adaptation reminds me of back to the future 2. When Biff gives other Biff the sports almanac and it has the alternate timeline. Everything still kind of the same but just slightly different. I am really excited for this variation of mortal Kombat I've always been a huge fan 👍 MK
I need Kuai Liang back in my life. He was such a bro. But I won't lie, Bi-Han and Scorpion being these actual brothers in a version of universe somewhere does feel like a long time coming.
I think what is evident that no matter what timeline it is there are immutable events that will always occur. Kitana and Mileena's rivalry, Mileena contracting the tarkatan plague, Sub Zero and Scorpion being enemies, Kung lao dying and more interestingly potentially Liu Kang being at odds with Raiden which did take center stage for large parts of the lore of the game.
im actually hoping that kung lao becomes something more than the yamcha of mk i doubt raiden and liu kang will have a falling out but i do think that there might be some tension between them later in the storymode with liu kang favoring alliances and ties over independance and strength which will provide a middle ground among the earthrealm champions where cage is the most loyal and trusts everything and raiden is loyal and trusting but is skeptical of the means and bi-han is seeking to claim all of earthrealm
You also gotta remember is in Mortal Kombat deception? Liu Kang had a Bio in that game that stated with his soul being consumed by Shang Tsung he was able to see through Shang's eyes the battle that took place with him and Quan Chi vs. Raiden then what happened after when Onaga arrived. So he definitely knows about it.
That was the original timeline Liu Kang. This current Liu Kang, is the Liu Kang from NRS timeline, who only experience the MK9-Outworld tournament, while his Revenant part experience both MK9 and MKX. However, it is safe to say this Liu Kang here has full knowledge of his original timeline counterpart now thanks to the hourglass.
I haven't played a Mortal Kombat game since Armageddon. I just heard that they "rebooted" the series, and this is the first video I've watched detailing the changes in lore. I don't know how to take any of this. I like Kung Lao's and Mileena's new story, Scorpion and Subzero being brothers is weird to me. This is going to take some time to accept.
The big bad is either Onaga or another Titan like Kronika. The other Titans were teased in a few character endings. But I think NRS knows how much we want the Dragon King.
Honestly, þe part of þis change I’m most excited about are þe chanġes surrounding Mileena. For one, she is no longer a clone from þe Flesh Pits, but Kitana’s flesh and blood sister - and her OLDEɌ sister, to boot. For þe first time, Mileena’s claim to þe title of Empress is completely legitimate, and I cannot wait to see how þis plays out in þe story! Second, þis mention of “…the dreaded and lethal Tarkat disease.” Now, þis is an obvious reference to þe Tarkata, but what does þis mean for þe Tarkatans and Baraka? Is Baraka a warrior who managed to overcome his disease? Will he offer to help Mileena to do þe same? Mayhaps þe Tarkata as we know þem are merely people who survived þeir infection? As a long-time fan of Mileena, Baraka, and þe Tarkata as a whole, I am DEEPLY excited to see what becomes of þis!!!
Johnny was reset to being the same guy he was way back in the original MK game. I kind of wished he retained some of his character growth he had in MK 9, X and 11.
The ninja bios make me wonder if we’ll miss out on the cyber ninja again since unless I’m misremembering Sektor’s dad was the old grandmaster in the previous timelines. Did Liu Kang erase his whole family or something. Also super unlikely but another option for an old villain returning could be Daegon. Liu Kang never met him and even if he did Daegon’s parents are incredibly powerful. Just as Raiden couldn’t be deleted from the old timeline he may have been immune as well. He could see the hourglass as his to inherit because of his Mother’s power in prophecy or because he doesn’t think a mortal has any right to ascend to that level.
I have a theory that Onaga does rule Liu Kang's universe but he might not be the big bad or maybe he could be. But it was said that Onaga was a better ruler than Shao Khan so maybe Liu decided to make Onaga the ruler over all mortals and Onaga would not go against Liu and pledge his allegiance to fire god Liu Kang while another big bad shows up later.
If that the case, then the new Titan is pretty much the new threat. I have some theory that if the new Titan is the threat, who knows maybe all the races just come out from the shadow and Liu Kang had no choice but to work together with Onaga to go war with the Titans. Don't forget, Cetrion tease us that Liu Kang and Onaga might be related. Anyway, Onaga MUST be in this game
The idea of Subzero and Scorpion being brothers is cool but with Mileena and Kitana being twins that is a really cool twist and I prefer it over the Subzero and Scorpion being brothers. i think it is a bit overkill because now a huge part of the story will be about sibling rivalry.
The one thing I am curious of, Is Kitana was Lui Kangs Companion at the rebirth of the new age. I am assuming she died of natural age, because where does that version fit in.
i am Very interested in Mileena. losing her bloodthirsty intent to be Kitana's Twin Sister is a complete 360. but the infection with the disease making things hard for her makes me wonder if there is a way to revert this option. If so we finally have a Mileena that's focused on her actual task of being head of Kahn family by heritage rather than by murderous intent.
I checked the wiki for them and it says Kuai Liang and Hanzo are brothers in MK. So basically that kept me happy that Kuai Liang is still carries the mantle as Sub-Zero. Bi han? We may still have to wait for any news about him. Either way I think Kuai Liang and Hanzo's brotherhood rivalry reminds me of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow
I think that Reptile is also different because a part of why he was the way he was in the previous timeline was partially because of him losing his home. Not certain but I think he still has one this time so maybe he also has gone through a change. Also I would like for him to have a different design because he isn't from Earthrealm so him being a ninja seems odd to me. So hopefully if he is in this game he has a different look and fighting style
It would be interesting if the specific name of Kenshi's yakuza clan was the "Shirai Ryu" and that's how it may connect to scorpion leaving the lin kuei to join the now reformed syndicate.

The new bad guy could be a character. We already know as a hero, but in this new timeline circumstance has shaped them into a villain instead which is something Liu Kang could not have anticipated.

This info really does help expand on what we’ve needed in terms of puzzle pieces, yet those very said pieces are heavily reshaped while others like Johnny cage stays relatively close to the two previous timelines. It’s not a mortal kombat we’ll be use to since fire god Liu kang has indeed shifted the board of all once known threats, however its clear as day of what’s happening. IMO Onaga may in fact be reigning now as the lord he truly is without shaos deception of poison. However if reality is indeed threatened this early I can only think of one with a potential to effect the hour glass. Geras, he’s the only suspect as of right now with the potential to threaten his vision of peace as well as bring about his own ripple effects to destabilize a timeline. I know I could be wrong but if Onaga does get to be the big bad he wouldn’t be as powerful as he was in deception. Gotta remember he might still be seeking immortality like in the original before his death.

So here's my theory. It is stated that "Sub-zero" is the grandfather of Bi-Han and Kuia Liang. This is prolly the grandfather. And this Scorpion is prolly the ancestor of Hanzo Hissashi. Maybe since both sub zero and scorpion have different views of the clan, scorpion might leave the Lin Kuia and create Shriya Ryu.

After the tease Cetrion give to us that Liu Kang and Onaga might be related, Onaga MUST be in this game. But don't forget, the other Titans due exist too. I bet they pissed af knowing some mortal end up becoming a God and wield one of their power (Kronika's hourglass). Imagine some twist that Liu Kang had no choice but to work together with Onaga in order to wage war against the Titans this time.

My theory is that Scorpion is still Hanzo and he's an adopted brother, not blood. It'll be revealed that their father destroyed the shirai ryu and took Hanzo when he was a child

As an OG player of MK series, I am really excited to see who is the new threat. As for anything else, we can assume this much as a spoiler:
1. Liu Kang made sure the Great Kung Lao won all MK tournaments.
2. Shao Khan didn't take over any realms due to the Dragon King's army.
3. Queen Sindel left her husband with her daughter to live with Shao Khan.
4. There is a huge war between the Chaos Realm and Order Realm.
5. The Shokan warriors will move to the Earth Realm for a better future.
6. Ediena Realm (spelled wrong) is now trying to gain Elder God support.
7. Kitana is now harder for Liu Kang to romance. Mileena falls in love with a new hero from Earth Realm.
8. Shang Tsung returns from death...again.

I’ve also looked at the backdrop a bit and the trailer seems to show an older era market where they all meet up. There’s a few more clues but just thought I’d put it in your radar
Regarding Liu Kang, he DID fight the Deadly Alliance. Dude just wound up being one of the first two that the Deadly Alliance killed upon Quan Chi and Shang Tsung teaming up.

Scorpion the name and costume are now a mantle which means anyone can wear it (whether it’s passed down or taken) now from what I googled about the Tekunin could be wrong so correct me if I am but in the original timeline after Sektor's failure to take the Lin Kuei from Sub-Zero, he fled to Japan in order to establish his own ninja clan of cyborgs the Tekunin very similar to the Shirai Ryu so in this timeline where we can get one or both scenarios could happen with the birth of the Shirai Ryu come Hanzo who could take or be given the scorpion mantle

This is a intresting insight into Liu Kang. Because he had a part in shapeing this world for the most part. 1 Interesting aspect that I would say is that how this new timeline sets way apart from canon events from previous MK games such as Scorpion not having his family killed and turning into a spectre for Quan Chi or how Mileena is a clone created by Shang Tsung to replace Kitana at one point. I'll do say however I feel bad for Johnny Cage for his arc progression/potential from MK9 to 11 had made him more humble and selfless for others and having a loving family like Sonya & daughter Cassie been washed down the timeline drain and started back to 1 again.
That being said however I'm very much interested for this new timeline here where things are shape up differently such as who is the big threat and will there be a tournament of sorts, does the elder gods exist in this timeline and do they know of Liu Kangs resetting the timeline and whats more considering characters that haven't shown up yet how will them be portrayed here!? My moneys on that this new enemy that Liu was not expect it to be could be someone he has never met or even someone Liu knows of and is now a threat to Earthrealm, we're just gonna have to wait and see.
I just want a Bi Han redemption arc as Sub Zero over the next few games and Cyrax in MK1😭

Noob has always been evil but Bi Han as a Human wasn’t in Mythologies you can argue that he didn’t do anything evil but was just a guy doing what he was told by his clan (who mind you adopted him and his brother as children) and even when Raiden told him he had dark in his heart you can see in the cutscene how visibly hurt he was to find that out and i think asked how to get rid of it. I think what is evident that no matter what timeline it is there are immutable events that will always occur. Kitana and Mileena's rivalry, Mileena contracting the tarkatan plague, Sub Zero and Scorpion being enemies, Kung lao dying and more interestingly potentially Liu Kang being at odds with Raiden which did take center stage for large parts of the lore of the game.
im actually hoping that kung lao becomes something more than the yamcha of mk i doubt raiden and liu kang will have a falling out but i do think that there might be some tension between them later in the storymode with liu kang favoring alliances and ties over independance and strength which will provide a middle ground among the earthrealm champions where cage is the most loyal and trusts everything and raiden is loyal and trusting but is skeptical of the means and bi-han is seeking to claim all of earthrealm

Liu Kang had a Bio in that game that stated with his soul being consumed by Shang Tsung he was able to see through Shang's eyes the battle that took place with him and Quan Chi vs. Raiden then what happened after when Onaga arrived. So he definitely knows about it.
That was the original timeline Liu Kang. This current Liu Kang, is the Liu Kang from NRS timeline, who only experience the MK9-Outworld tournament, while his Revenant part experience both MK9 and MKX. However, it is safe to say this Liu Kang here has full knowledge of his original timeline counterpart now thanks to the hourglass.

Honestly, þe part of þis change I’m most excited about are þe chanġes surrounding Mileena.
For one, she is no longer a clone from þe Flesh Pits, but Kitana’s flesh and blood sister - and her OLDEɌ sister, to boot. For þe first time, Mileena’s claim to þe title of Empress is completely legitimate, and I cannot wait to see how þis plays out in þe story!
Second, þis mention of “…the dreaded and lethal Tarkat disease.” Now, þis is an obvious reference to þe Tarkata, but what does þis mean for þe Tarkatans and Baraka? Is Baraka a warrior who managed to overcome his disease? Will he offer to help Mileena to do þe same? Mayhaps þe Tarkata as we know þem are merely people who survived þeir infection?
As a long-time fan of Mileena, Baraka, and þe Tarkata as a whole, I am DEEPLY excited to see what becomes of þis!!!

Also super unlikely but another option for an old villain returning could be Daegon. Liu Kang never met him and even if he did Daegon’s parents are incredibly powerful. Just as Raiden couldn’t be deleted from the old timeline he may have been immune as well. He could see the hourglass as his to inherit because of his Mother’s power in prophecy or because he doesn’t think a mortal has any right to ascend to that level.
more likely is that sektors father was still grandmaster but bi-han murdered him and took the role of grandmaster

I have a theory that Onaga does rule Liu Kang's universe but he might not be the big bad or maybe he could be. But it was said that Onaga was a better ruler than Shao Khan so maybe Liu decided to make Onaga the ruler over all mortals and Onaga would not go against Liu and pledge his allegiance to fire god Liu Kang while another big bad shows up later.
If that the case, then the new Titan is pretty much the new threat. I have some theory that if the new Titan is the threat, who knows maybe all the races just come out from the shadow and Liu Kang had no choice but to work together with Onaga to go war with the Titans. Don't forget, Cetrion tease us that Liu Kang and Onaga might be related. Anyway, Onaga MUST be in this game
The idea of Subzero and Scorpion being brothers is cool but with Mileena and Kitana being twins that is a really cool twist and I prefer it over the Subzero and Scorpion being brothers. i think it is a bit overkill because now a huge part of the story will be about sibling rivalry.

i am Very interested in Mileena. losing her bloodthirsty intent to be Kitana's Twin Sister is a complete 360. but the infection with the disease making things hard for her makes me wonder if there is a way to revert this option. If so we finally have a Mileena that's focused on her actual task of being head of Kahn family by heritage rather than by murderous intent.
im betting that the tarkat disease makes people more bloodthirsty over time which progresses with the physical mutations

I checked the wiki for them and it says Kuai Liang and Hanzo are brothers in MK. So basically that kept me happy that Kuai Liang is still carries the mantle as Sub-Zero. Bi han? We may still have to wait for any news about him. Either way I think Kuai Liang and Hanzo's brotherhood rivalry reminds me of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow

I think that Reptile is also different because a part of why he was the way he was in the previous timeline was partially because of him losing his home. Not certain but I think he still has one this time so maybe he also has gone through a change. Also I would like for him to have a different design because he isn't from Earthrealm so him being a ninja seems odd to me. So hopefully if he is in this game he has a different look and fighting style
