Why iPhones Crack So Easily
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 вер 2021
- A cracked iPhone is the most common repair performed at Apple’s retail stores. With a quarter of users experiencing it. But why do iPhones seem so fragile in the first place? Well that’s what I’ll explain right now.
Of course that is glass, and we see scratches at a level 6 with deeper grooves at a level 7.

The thing about androids is now false because similarly priced androids also have glass edge to edge displays
And on some the display itself is also curved which is an even bigger problem because if the impact is severe enough the layers of the OLED display will start delaminating and it'll develop a black spot or it'll just completely stop functioning
And let's not talk about how expensive they are to repair
Yeah this video has information from 5 years ago
I think he was explaining back then using that iphone 6 design with one back then but even then phones were starting to be like that (Samsung for example).
Higher end androids you mean. Like they also removed the headphone jack
some Androids on the same price range have glass on the sides as well, having the display glass and back glass merging making the sides circular.
and even 100 dollar androids from 2019 already had glass on the whole surface

I’ve purchased more than 20 iPhones and used iPhones for me and my entire family for over 10 years we’ve never had a cracked iPhone and no we don’t use heavy duty cases
Similar here.I’ve had every generation since the iPhone 4 and never broken or cracked a screen or back.I mainly only use Apple’s cases.I never purchase AppleCare as I don’t need to.
Always use a a good case and tempered glass screen protector since day one.Your phone shows how well you take care of it.My phones always look as good as new after years of use and I have never broken or cracked any of them.
1:01 You found that Android device only? When is it from? Like 2015?
Android Smartphone (specially the mir expansive ones) have all even more curved screens! But they still manage to deal with drops.
This guy should be the main lawyer for Apple. I like some stuff from Apple, but that what he says is far away from objectivity. Nothing can defend greediness of company. In interest of company is to make as much profit from sale as they can achieve, and repairing broken display is one of them.
The real reason is what you said in the beginning of the video. Cracked glass is their number one repair. Why spend 25 million procuring and installing a new more shatter resistant glass when you can create glass that is just strong enough to not crack every time it's dropped but we can off to the point where it will eventually crack and make tens of millions of dollars off of customers getting stuff repaired. The Apple store charged me $350 to replace my cracked iPhone x screen. It's fucking ridiculous
your first mistake is going to apple to repair, corner shops are much better and won’t charge you as much
I wish you could provide an explanation on why they would not just use aluminium for the back like they used to.
induction charging wouldn't work
@Nick Buzan ahhhh ok. :/ I wish there was another non-conductive material they could use that was not so breakable, other than plastic!
@@pianoplayeh also, glass looks better (imo)
Apple probably changed from full alloy phones to glass backed ones because there’s more chance of breaking them and coming into an Apple store to get fixed
Gorilla glass is some incredible stuff, but always use a case with a lip around the screen edge. My 12 dropped about 5 feet face first onto concrete after a guy in a poorly tuned tuner car backfired right in front of me (and scared everyone on the street)… no cracks. (I use a Spigen case with the magsafe charger ring built in, but anything with that lip around the screen edge will work.)
So in other words, glass didn’t break because glass was protected by a case? Amazing.
In all seriousness I think part of it is iPhone owners resistance to getting adequate cases for their phone. Fuck aesthetics, does it protect the phone? No? Then into the bin it goes. But iPhone users definitely seem more hesitant to use them, and this is coming from an iPhone owner. I treat my phone as gingerly as possible, and no issues. The bottom line is: don’t be reckless, and don’t be an idiot.
@@thatcarguydom266 I agree however I do find native iPhones hard to grip and one should not need to buy a case just to hold their phone
@@Evercreeper they ain’t hard to hold so long as you aren’t reckless with it. Although either way, the smart thing to do is get a case. It’s the one thing that ticks me off most, is when people don’t use cases and wonder why it broke the first time they drop it.
Yep, glass is glass, and glass breaks
Easily
@@thatcarguydom266 Definitely. I literally have no sympathy for someone who cracks their phone in 2021. A tempered glass screen protector and proper case make that almost impossible.
So you use extremely old Android phones too when an Android phone is needed to be compared against an iPhone?
Seriously, I expected more. Like, an Android of that time and in the same price range, not the ultra cheap model from 10 years ago...
That's where you see the difference between a fan and a fanboy. The fan is fair and critizises. The fanboy does everything to make his own thing look better.
Compare a S21 Ultra to the iPhone 12 pro max. Imagine the S21 Ultra running iOS. I think it's clear who's the winner.

This is a classic case of Apple just doing what they want and the rest of us having to deal iwth it.
