Great movie, great actors (especially once again Gert Fröbe), great planes. Look at the gorgeous aerial footage at 2:30 with the silhouettes of the planes over the English Channel (La Manche, Ärmelkanal)!
The aircraft - or some of them - were flying replicas. I saw the box kite at shows in the 1970s. It may still be with the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden in Bedfordshire and it may still be flying.
@@jonathanlewis453I believe that the Bristol Boxkite and the Avro Triplane from the film are still there- at least they were based on the last UA-cam video from nearly a year ago.
@@DavidSmith-xs3or- I saw them flying many, many years ago. Only on very still days. The oldest flying aircraft in the world is there too - a 1912 Blackburn.
a family favorite movie, made back when they actually made funny movies without crotch kicks and unfunny fart jokes. two movies that go with this one are "Those Daring Young Men In Their Jaunty Jalopies 1969" and "The Great Race 1965"
@@ShamanKish Yeah, together with Jack Lemmon as Professor Fate, and their cannon. "Push the button, Max!" ("Drück auf's Knöpfchen, Max!") and the Eiffel Tower was gone. That was so funny.
The Great Race I first saw in betamax, still one of the best movies I have ever seen. This one is pretty awesome too. Back then Germans had quite a reputation for being friendly and polite it seems.
It's difficult to believe, but between Blerio first flight over English Channel and first flight of the 2 Mach F-104 "Starfighter" is less than 50 years.
hi from germany before a german in berlin glided he was the first to fly but he didnt use a motor and anyway weeks ago I flyed down stairs doese that count as flying?
From memory, an Irish pilot took off but flew to Ireland rather than France. His aircraft was a canard-type - main wings in the rear, control surface in the front.
I saw the film in australia born in germany naturaly you had to make fools out of the germans but before the brothers in usa a german used a glider to fly ealyer in berlin so they didnt event to fly but with a motor
I loved this film when I saw it as a kid in the 60s. It is still funny.
yes..for me still today best and the same funny film
Einer der besten Filme ever
'The trouble with these international affairs is they attract foreigners' crying with laughter
@Van Caden Why do you call it a 'trick?' Something official is not a 'trick.' Flixzone is an official movie streaming site.
That is still the British mindset today.
My parents gave me the money to see this movie! Great movie and fun! Dr. Tim Rasico M.D.

Ja er wahr grose legende gerd frobe er bleibt in unzeren herzen an leben
Best move I he'd ever seen 💯!
I love this big dumb sprawling spectacle. It also has one of the best theme songs ever.
Love this movie!
this is a MUST SEE movie ! :3

This was good but The Great Race was my favourite.

I went to see The Great Race with my mates when it came to the local cinema. The food fight scene is one of my all-time favourites to this day.
This is where the Red Bull Flugtag got its inspiration!! I saw the commercial
Look fast to see a young British comedian before he got his now-legendary 1970s weekly TV series: Benny Hill as Fire Chief Perkins.
Amazing work guys!!

Benni Hill👍👍😄😄
Loved this movie, seen it many times. They’ve gone to great lengths to stereotype every single nationality in this movie.🇦🇺
I agree….for me, Gert Frobe made this film great
Bad Piggies IRL lel
I think I saw this when I was a kid. It's goofy, but entertaining. This trailer makes it look like a mess.
👌💋😘
Rumpelschloß, sie Essel!!!
Benny Hill.

No one came from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland then? Only England? If this was aboout 1900 it should say UK.
There was a Scots pilot but he was a background character. He crashed in the channel.
Wrong - British Empire.
yes.....4 years before the Wright Brothers !! It is based on the 1910 air race.

Every nationality in it got lampooned pretty thoroughly, each in its own way.
Прекрасный фильм. Рекомендую к просмотру всей семьёй!
