This man has a certain humour and humour certain, the right guy to learn and afterwards get a couple of beers together, cheers and thanks from Luxembourg 🇱🇺 europe
Thank you so much for putting these out there! As a new turner who’s trying to learn by watching UA-cam, it has been SUPER helpful to watch it in real time. The first few bowls I tried to make I thought needed to be done in 30 or so minutes, and they were disasters...only later finding out that the vids were sped up to fit a certain time frame. I can’t thank you enough!!
I like your style and way of teaching and approaching wood turning. The right balance of fundamentals along with the sort of intuitive “feel” elements. Emphasis on stepping back and looking for symmetry, balance, and beauty as you go along. You are now among a handful of favorite teachers of wood turning 👍👍
Most educational video. New to turning twice a week at public shop. I made one twig pot, lots pens, snowmans..but watching you I understand more of what I was doing..class is only hour.
Good job, Kirk. Plenty of good information and detail. I especially appreciate that you did not use a bunch of loud music that so many UA-camrs do these days. Peaceful, quiet, and informative. Excellent.
Thanks for the great video and extensive explanation. I've been turning a bit over a year. Learned a lot from this video. We wil be putting a piece in our chapter newsletter about these videos. Very helpful.
i had just found this video and want to say thanks so much I have been turning for around a year and I see that there is alot of thing I need to work on. Thanks again
Very nice and excellent instruction as well. However I personally believe it looked much better with the larger based on it before you parted it off than it does now. Maybe that is just me but I think everything should have a wide solid based. To me it looks like that would be very easy to knock over and a mom with kids would likely not appreciate that. Other than that, awesome job. Thanks for putting out this video series. Yall have a wonderful day.
Your no rush, carefully done demonstrations with clear explanations as you proceed are MUCH appreciated. I've learned a great deal thanks to your thoughtfulness and your easy to follow presentations.
Great educational deministration. You have explained so well many helpful steps and proceedures throughout. I use your scratch-free product and am curious if you can finish up your sanding with the Scratch-free paste?
Hi there, just a quick question: You're using a spindle gouge to shape the bowl / carve out the interior? Or are you using a bowl gouge? I'm completely new to turning and this is my first project. While doing it, I realized I only have bowl gouges. I'm also getting really nasty tearout on the exterior & catches while doing the interior. Any suggestions? Using 3/8" bowl gouge for exterior shaping & 1/4" bowl gouge for interior.
Video needs to zoom in when turner is explaining detailed use of the turning tools while these tools are on the wood. I could not see what he was explaining because the camera was not zoomed in.

Yes, Scratch Freee is perfect as a final step in the sanding process.
Excellent video, explaining as you go is just wonderful, really impressed with your knowledge. Big thank you.
Thank you, appreciate your patience, very helpful.
Thanks for sharing that!
Good video. Thank you!
Right on!
I would use a draw bar to keep the Morse taper drill bit from turning in the spindle on drive head. It was a very good video.
Good info ty.
It's great to see things that aren't made in China these days!👍
Are you using green or dried lumber? Does it matter?
what glass tube did you use for this project?
Here's a link to the tubes: www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p/56/5278/turners-select-Flared-Vase-Tube
