This is a popular funeral song. We played it to usher in the congregation at my mother's funeral. Mum was in her thirties when the Beatles released this, I was about 10 years old. Mum died at 94, still loving the Beatles.

The Beatles walked down the hall of music knocking down doors on either side that opened up new fields for other bands to go in to explore. They made pop music into an art form that showed everyone else that anything was possible. They explored all kinds of genres and combinations of genres and pushed the boundaries of the recording studio. As Alice Cooper said, "Everybody was influenced by somebody, but I think everybody was influenced by The Beatles." One of the many amazing things about The Beatles is how quickly they evolved in such a short time. As Elvis Costello said, "Every record was a shock when it came out. Every single was an event.” Ozzy Osbourne called them, “The Greatest Band To Ever Walk The Earth!”

Brother, just listen to the Beatles, all the albums. They start at "Please, Please Me" and end at "Let it Be". The progression, especially when you listen to their peers over that time, is unprecedented.

When you compare the ‘best’ 5 songs of the various great pop artists through time, the Beatles do fine, but - it is when you compare the ‘best’ 105 songs that they really shine.
Note: Rolling Stone magazine listed ‘Hello Goodbye’ as the Beatles 100th best song.

John Lennon lost a lot of people in his life at a young age. His father left when he was 4 and his mother was hit by a car when he was 17 right near his Aunt Mimi's house ( she raised John because his mother, Julia, wasn't able to raise him). When he was 21, his best friend died of a brain hemorrage. 😢

It must be extremely difficult to really understand the impact those four guys had on music in general, but 'rock and roll' more specifically. They were the first "Modern" 'Rock & Roll" band! Their song writing and persona changed how everyone else wrote and performed music! They taught others to be creative, explore different things, experiment. Their music today seems somewhat common, but they were the first ones to do it! Everyone else had to play "catch up!" They always seemed to be one step ahead of everyone else in where they were going musically. They were the beginning of the evolution of where music is today! They were the first band to intentionally use 'guitar feedback' as a sound effect. Today, using 'feedback' is common and no big deal, but back then, it turned heads! There are many, many more "FIRSTS" from these guys, but maybe some other time. 😉

Yep. But that's thing about the Beatles. Someone unfamiliar with their music hears a song they think is mind-blowing great by them, and doesn't realize that unlike other bands, who might 5 more songs as good as their best if they are a really good group, and 10 more songs as good as their best if they are a really great group. The Beatles? - 50 more songs as good their best, and another 50 songs nearly as good, and another 50 that are still pretty darn good, and 25 that still pretty good, many 25 that aren't so great.

recommendations: A Day In The Life, Helter Skelter, Hey Bulldog, Twist & Shout, and also Paul McCartney's song with Sound City (Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Krist Novoselic so basically Foo Fighters and Nirvana). And, if you're into quieter songs too, I think he really composed something magnificent with all the songs on the album "Ram" and the song Mull Of Kintyre with Wings. He is so interesting, both musically and in terms of personality because in musical terms he's all over the place and has tried out everything, from writing and recording and producing some of his records all by himself, to just picking up and learning to play any instrument he fancied, to facing a barrage of negativity from music critics that kinda tanked his first few albums, but never gave up and did his thing and ended up topping in every situation through real hard work, struggle and having very specific goals. I really admire him for that. Personality-wise, he gets pegged as the himbo who was just pretty and played bass, but he's so so so much more than charm and looks, and nobody ever gives him credit for that. At the age of 81, he's still doing two and a half hour shows at minimum, reaching three hours (because he LOVES performing and he loves music) while singing every song in its original key even though his voice is not the voice he had even just in the 2000s and 2010s, but let me open an aside here and say that I absolutely love his old man voice so much), has composed a classical music album and a couple of movie soundtracks, has played all instruments in his albums on McCartney I, II and III and also on Ram (which is, frankly, my favorite album out of the ones I've heard from him), has lost many important people in his life (his mother when he was 14, his brother, John Lennon, his wife Linda, and just last year he lost Denny Laine who was his friend and band mate on Wings) and none of that has shaken his resolve to make music and tour and record and be an incredible performer. On a personal side, he's also known for being the "cute Beatle" and the "polite Beatle", but he's also incredibly funny and his psychology is frankly fascinating just as much as John's is. He's also the one who brought the topic of politics into discussions within the Beatles, made a song about liberating Ireland from England (Give Ireland Back to the Irish), a song about black people's struggle during the segregation era (Blackbird), also pretty much invented indie pop with Ram.
Yes, as you can tell, I'm a Paul girl. But I love all of them. I hope you do join us in loving their music, because frankly I think they really made magic happen. Not to mention everything they changed. Like, Ringo is the reason why rock drummers use the matched grip since before him all drummers used the traditional grip, just to name one. He was also the first drummer to be actually considered part of a band and who got equal exposure and consideration. In social terms, I think it's important to point out that The Beatles made it a policy for their US tours that they would not perform for segregated audiences which meant they managed to make segregated states lift segregation at their shows and they definitely started a conversation in that sense. Like, didn't just say it but wrote it in every contract for a performance in the US. Just, in general, culturally and politically speaking the Beatles weren't just at the forefront of musical innovation and experimentation, but also brought the counter-culture to mainstream audiences. They were awesome.
Like... The Beatles literally changed pop-rock music in just 8 years. Insane.

Then listen to all the records from beginning to end. No Van Ness changes much from this to desk, releases, many great songs, disc, if your desk, single, after single changing Natalie, their sound, and the aesthetic with each recording, but the history of popular music do you think that they were only together as a recording group for less than seven years ?

From "I Saw Her Standing There" (first song, first album in 1963) to "Get Back" (last song, last album in 1970). You'll be amazed at the progression of their sound. After that, you can do their solo careers. In less than a decade, they changed the world of music and many would say they changed the world.

Since you’re a metalhead I would suggest you listen to “Helter Skelter”. Some people consider it to be the first metal sounding song, though, to me, it sounds more like punk. To think that the same person who wrote “Yesterday”, “Eleanor Rigby”, and “Here There And Everywhere” (Paul McCartney) also wrote that one. Just goes to show you how great The Beatles were. And I haven’t even mentioned the talents of John Lennon (who was the founder of the band, and wrote the song you’re listening to), or George Harrison. Most bands are lucky to have one great songwriter among them. The Beatles had three.

Thank you for your cool reaction to the Beatles. I hit subscribe and like! You can never go wrong with the Beatles! I love this song. Lennon was 25 when he wrote this? And already he had so much loss and tragedy in his life. He was an immensely talented, quick witted, intelligent young man, for sure! And they grew and evolved as a band with each album. (in only 7 years!!)

@@MadAng66 Well, the video of 'We Can Work it Out' is fun because they had to do it, and obviously didn't want to, so they just goofed off. Funny stuff!! (I think they might have indulged in some smoke before hand!). And the live rooftop performance of 'Don't Let me Down' is amazing! (Later Beatles, one of their last). I've never seen those get blocked.

Back in the day the closes thing we had to metal was The Iron Butterfly singing Ina Godda Da Vida the drum solo was as kick ass as it could be, then came along Black Sabbath with Iron Man.

You're like one of the only youtube music reactors that actually talks about the lyrics and for the Bealtes music i think thats super important. Especially considering this was like the mid 60s and a lot of music was about love or basic cookie cutter shit lol

This song means SO MUCH to me personally, at nearly 77 years old, with most of my life behind me now. I am also a Beatles' fan from the beginning. However, please don't blur the video so much that you can't make anything out. I DON"T get ANNOYED when you PAUSE, I get ANNOYED when you clearly have a VIDEO for it, and we CAN'T SEE it for the blur, which makes it non-existent. YOU'LL get MORE VIEWS if you DON'T completely BLURR it like that. When you are commenting or reacting to something you are seeing on the video, we would have loved to have seen what you were looking at. Actually when you pause it and talk about it in spots, as you do, should be enough and usually doesn't get blocked. You can put a word over the video like "music" and you can still see the video some. Please think about it, for future Beatles reactions, OR just play the music. But if you are actually showing a video, do something where we can still see it a bit, if you are worried about it being blocked. A lot of other reactors have done that without blurring it out like this, and have had no problems. I hope you reconsider next time. LOVED your reaction though, and what you had to say. Enjoy your Beatles journey😊

Good for you opening up to past music and different genres within popular music. I promise you--no I guarantee that the members of Metallica love the Beatles. No Doubt. Try listening to the album Revolver, which was right before Sgt. Pepper. Revolver is a mix of avante-guarde music, pop songs, etc. The revolution was televised.

Haha don't worry about the pausing man, I think the issue people have is when reactors pause TOO much/often. You just gotta know when to pause to not ruin the flow of the song, like after the verse, after the chorus or after the solo.

It is your channel. Interrupt a lot if you like. I only think there are songs that can only be appreciated in their entirety or you lose the effect. This song is one of them. I would caution you not to over analyze Beatles music. It isn't like most other music. The are the greatest of all time for a reason. They affect people differently and are to be experienced as much as listened to.

Nice reaction. Honorable notice. The Beatles' studio producer George Martin had released the song on "In My Life" album in 1998, decades after the original. There, the song is performed by Sir James Bond or, should I say, Sean Connery. ua-cam.com/video/eJ4LJE9PktY/v-deo.html best if preceeded by intro titled "Friends and lovers", in one go. Greetings
