This is why BTS gets the respect they do. You can't fake true passion for hip hop. People can tell when you know and truly respect a culture and you're not doing it just because it's cool and trendy. Even the vocal line is heavily influenced by hip hop. I thought it was funny when they first came to the US for interviews and the hosts assumed their favs were only basic pop artists and they were like " uhh, no" and then named hip hop and r&b artists instead.
"This is why he's president." Word. I mean... he mentioned KRS-ONE, and I haven't heard that name in YEARS. I was a teenager in the '80s, and I remember me and my friends (even in white bread Connecticut LOL) listening to bootlegs of OG rappers we bought in NYC. This is part of why I have so much respect for our rap line. They're not appropriating culture like so many do... they are appreciating and paying homage to it, as well as taking it and making it their own rather than just copying. I love the way RM admits that in the beginning when he was a kid, that was exactly what he did -- he forced it. But I think that's how we learn. We copy things we admire, and over time, if we keep practicing, we find our voice and make the art our own. I love BTS. That is all.

Hip Hop Phile, or Hip Hop Lover as it was later retitled, is a song that NEVER fails to give me chills just because you can feel how much they love this culture and music. It always shakes me to my core.
LadyPleaseCalmDown I don’t believe I’ve ever seen Born Singer live in person, but they sang Path during TRB and I cried then too. Basically BTS have me screaming in euphoria or crying cuz I’m all up in my feelings 😆

People often forget that HIP HOP is more than a “genre” and more than rap. *HIP HOP IS A CULTURE!!!!* The rapping, disk jockeying (aka DJ-ing), dancing, clothes, slang, mannerisms. All of this and more is Hip Hop. It continues to amaze me how we (Black people) finally began to embrace ourselves and created something for ourselves that has grown and is coveted around the world. BTS’ love for hip hop (and really all the world) is such a heart warming thing, especially when ppl like BTS truly study and respect and love it instead of appropriate it like so many ppl do today. ✊️💜
Hip hop is Black male chauvinist blacks from Caribbean derived culture telling the stories of community goings on to inspire and inform musically and anything not that is anti hip hop.
I am privileged to have been alive to witness the birth of HIP HOP. Those were the days of the URBAN POETS who gave a voice to the silenced. Who forced the elite to witness and laid bare the reality of the lives of the marginalized. May they always be remembered. I feel BTS carries their torch with respect and authenticity.
Same. Those days will always be special to me, it was like everyone was on fire with their raw creativity, before things got corporate. BTS is more than worthy to carry the torch and they keep it real. 💜
@@auntielu4394 I think a lot of modern rappers forgot their roots too and their message became all about money and "bitches". That was very disappointing for me.

Oh man, you guys have to ride this old school bangtan ride. Hip Hop Lover is such an underrated song, but it's so damn important to know as a fan. This was passion in its rawest form and I love the them for making this track. It's by far one of my favorites. Now, you gotta hear We On, and Move. Move might just make you cry. The storytelling in that one will his you right in the feels. It's a screenshot of them in their rookie years, gaining some success and finally getting to move out of their dorm, but feeling bittersweet because they shared so many memories there. Another personal favorite.
Move made me love them the most. Their passion to put their stories to their music is what deeply moves me. And the fact that they were able to make a song abt their experience of moving apartment just baffles me in the best way.

I don't know why but I am in tears. One of the songs I love a lot. You can always feel how passionate our rapline boys are about their craft that it gives me chills. They are my Deadly Trio. It's still hard to believe that J-Hope didn't know how to rap before BTS. They are truly born talented and we are blessed to witness them. 💜
Some OG Korean hip hop influences they list and reference a lot are Epik High, Verbal Jint, MFBTY (aka Drunken Tiger) and Dynamic Duo. I HIGHLY recommend checking these artists out if you want to see some real Korean hip hop. Rap has always been fused into Kpop since it’s origin in the 90s, but still very manufacturing and pop style of rapping. Only in the last 10 years or so has hip hop become popular and now mainstream in Korea. These artists were the guys doing hip hop in Korea well before it was mainstream and always hitting with the REAL lyrics. like you said, authentic. Both RM and Suga said hearing Epik High as kids is what made them first want to pursue music careers. BTS always pays homage to original western artists and also Korean artists responsible for bringing and making hip hop popular in Korea. What’s really cool is that since they’ve paid homage even since before they were famous RM and BTS have been able to collab or feature with these Korean legends. Same like collabs with Warren G or Wale.
love how hope connects how he was introduced to hip hop through dance since he was a street dancer !! these are the artist that inspired his dance and made him excited
Rewatched this again after learning about hobi and jcole’s collab. It just made me tear up. Seeing not just hobi but also the rest of the tannies making music with their idols 😭💜 I’m just so so happy for them
This song is such an often forgotten gem from their early days. A mix of hip hop and r&b is intertwined beautifully. I believe during their interview with Jimmy Fallon he asked about the writing process and RN said the melody comes first then the lyrics. So @4:55 when Blaze was talking about how RM raps to fit the beat or flow he was dead on. I swear Adam's head was about to pop off when JHope verse came through. JHope has said his love of Hip Hop was because of Dance. So even though he wasn't a rapper like RM and Suga at the beginning, he love of the music gave him confidence to try when he took it on. So @9:15 Adam was so on point. *Throughout you'll see they mention a group Epik High which is an og Korean Hip Hop group. You should look into them. They're actually performing at Coachella this year.**
Many people underestimate BTS’s knowledge with hip hop, whether it’s locals or K-pop stans. I’m glad y’all see bts knows where they stand and how much they respect this culture they grew up learning about.💜
They keep mentioning Epik High. They're one of the best hip hop groups in Korea. Yoongi has been a fan of Tablo (the "leader") since forever and they are now friends. Have also worked together and actually produced a song. Tablo is also super hilarious. He has his own podcast on Spotify and is a total absolute Marvel uber nerd! You gotta check him out Nico 😄 (it's in english, he lived in Canada for a long time) Definitely check out some Epik High stuff too!
Thank you for taking the time to react to this song. It's one of my personal favourites from BTS. Once again Blaze's insight is on point. I loved seeing your passion. This has definitely made my day 🙌💜
Just a little fun fact: Epik High is a Korean Hip Hop group and Dynamic Duo is also a Korean hip hop duo. They named them here as their role models. Both Suga and RM got to work with Epik High and are friends with them now ^^.
Maaaaan if u believe anything in life...believe tht Suga is hiphop it shines off him like a star...just look how much joy he has in his element!!!! BTS are the goats i dnt feel worthy ..i guarantee im surely passing out at the concert lol...great vid guys btw.
They truly hip-hop + R&B group period. It shows through their music. Please believe that are the truth that why they are genius because they took what loved and mastered the craft into worldwide an unstoppable force. Actually, BTS has never a K-pop group to me. I am deeply rooted in both types of music. Don't take them lightly
I always loved how they are saying names, it's not common. They are paying tribute to all the great artists they admire and I loooove it !! 💜💜 And that sexy "I'll be down for your rap, I'll be down for your rhythm" is so underrated, because it adds this tingling feeling you can't escape 🔥🔥
I loved watching this. I love watching the impact they have in people in ways I never thought about because of cultural differences. The beauty of their music that brings us all together
Hobi is a very VERY hard Hip-Hop head, dance and rap. Not many people know, but he used to keep a blog when he basically took note of everything he learned from origins of hip hop rap and styles of dance to his progress as a dancer. I’ll link a source if I can find it again definitely.
Omg finally more people listening to this song!! It's one of those hidden gems from BTS. I like to show this song to people (knowing they love hip hop) when introducing BTS at the beginning.
You should listen to more of the tracks on Dark & Wild! So many underrated gems in that album which has a lot of heavy hip-hop, rnb and overall old school influence. Thank you again for your reactions!! Hope you’re enjoying discovering new gems about the boys, their music and artistry, and them as people everyday!
Loved your reaction. I am always taken aback by Bangtan’s vulnerability, their willingness to speak their truth, constantly questioning themselves with us as witnesses. Listening to your comments about how hip hop was born to speak authenticity lit a light bulb for me. That’s it, that’s why they are different. They breathe and share their truth passionately and make this vulnerability into a bulletproof strength I can’t get enough of 💜🤟🏻💜
I knew you wouldn't be able to make it passed 10 seconds lmao old school bangtan is where its at! Please react to Boyz with fun and Attack on Bangtan those are two of my favorite oldies
I remember when hip hop was just starting to take off. My brother and I loved the culture so much, especially me. I taught myself the dances. I learned the raps of the time. I grooved to the beats they were creating and loved every second of it. When I joined the Air Force, house music and dance was just coming out to the mainstream and the black community in my flight embraced this half native american/half caucasian girl into their community because I breathed the music and dance of hip hop. They saw it. They felt it. They knew that I loved it and appreciated it and made it part of who I am. I felt accepted, included, and acknowledged back then. When I found BTS, I was taken back to the old school days. And then when ARMYs accepted me as part of the family, I felt great - like I did back in the day. Man, I love BTS and ARMY. Thanks for a great reaction guys! Sorry my comment is a little all over the place and random. Peace! ✌️😎💜
BTS knew the roots of hip hop. antis and some uneducated ppl tried to brush off their songs as "wannabes". but can't respond ones army pointed out that the ppl who trained BTS are actual pioneers of the genre which includes Warren G and Coolio (yes some army may hate him but he is still a pioneer in hip-hop tho). In the whole season of BTS' reality show American Hustle Life, Coolio gave them the assignment to search WHERE AND WHY hip-hop was created, and what was the first song in that genre. they understood that it was created to make a statement abt equality. for the voices of african americans and latino americans to be heard. and Warren G showed them the neighborhood that nurtured him, and his friend Snoop Dogg. frankly BTS knows more abt hip-hop than most western so called "rappers" today. they know that it's not just "rapping fast" or "go rap abt sex and drugs and you're good". that it was created to say something important to the world. to make a statement.
My son BTS RM is very passionate and very deep with any message he has to say ...but in a respectful way.. Hes truthful to his LYRICS.....I'm ARMY WE GOT U RM AND ALL THE MEMBERS
Actually, the people that didn't support Yoongi in his dream were his parents. He told that they throw the lyrics he wrote when he was young bc they wanted him to focus in school, just his brother supported him back then. It was very difficult for him. But he loves them! And they support him now! There is a video of Yoongi crying during a concert bc he noticed that they were there, it was the first time he saw them in one of their concerts.
Love your reaction to this! It’s so underrated and I knew you guys would appreciate every detail. The album Dark & Wild was recorded (I think in a garage!) while they were filming AHL in LA as they learned about the origins of hip hop. When you look at this track and others, the timing is definitely not a coincidence. Dark & Wild was very introspective and instrumental in shaping their identity, making it more genuine and individual. As a result, the following HYYH albums (The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. I & II) became their most raw, fully-fledged work up to that point-and honestly probably the most raw we’ll ever see them due to the circumstances surrounding that project. That was when they released “I Need U” and finally found their sound. Coincidentally-or not-so-coincidentally-the HYYH era saved their career. All of BigHit was about to go bankrupt that year in 2015 and this album was literally their “hail Mary” attempt to make it work or at least say something worthwhile before being forced to call it quits. But then “I Need U” started gaining traction and winning awards, followed up by “Dope” and the breathtaking HYYH story trilogy, and even more fans (especially international) began pouring in. The numbers are nothing compared to what they bring in today, but for an underdog group who thought the end of everything was fast approaching? It changed everything. Long story short, the vision of Dark & Wild and songs like “Hip Hop Lover/Phile” planted the seeds for this to happen. It’s so gratifying to see love, hard work, and a genuine vision pay off like it did for BTS and Hitman Bang. They have such a great story and are so easy to root for. You’re easily one of the best reaction channels out here. Thanks for all these great uploads!💜
fun fact, Epik High is a korean hiphop who got real good songs and is considered as one of the legends when it comes to korean hiphop industry. BTS has really looked up to them.
Hiphop lover was actually the first BTS b-side i listened to and made me really fall in love with bts’ music. i’m not very knowledgeable about hiphop but i know what it means to bts and people in general, i have such a high respect for it and people part of it. more than enjoying it, your reaction was so educational for me too. thank you!! 💜
You made me cry. Because I think the same as you. Hip hop is for all those who respect and love it. And there is definitely nothing more genuine than hip hop in our roots. BTS has been respectful, and it shows that they love this culture. And it is true, it is an honor that someone can value hip hop for what it really represents and for what it is in itself.
One of the reasons why I rock with BTS, is that they give credit where credit is due. I love that! They taught so much in this song. I hope those who don’t know the artists that mentioned to go check out their music!
Thank you for listening to this. It was one of the reasons I started listening to them. I started listening to them in 2013 but they became my group in 2014 when that song became part of their writings. So again thank you.
I hope you will still read this comment even if the video is old, I wanted to talk about Yoongi's '' even if people hold me down'' part a little just in case you din' t know yet. Yoongi explained back in the day that he had a very hard time with his parents in school and before debut, because they were radically against his wish of becoming a rapper/musician. They tried everything to stop him, they even took his notebook with all his lyrics and ripped it apart. Yoongi said he sometimes slept in some run down place and apparently even on the street once, in order to not go home but also to not bother friends. His brother always supported him though. Yoongi went through mental health problems then, my uneducated guess is depression, and in his first mixtape he even openly talks about hiding in the bathroom, lying on the floor crying. I have so so so much respect for him because he talks about these things openly, in Korea and especially as a guy you usually get looked down upon and are ridiculed when you struggle with your mental health. He doesn't care no more and talks openly, which is inspiring to young listeners all over the world who might go through the same thing. He isn't even my bias but I just respect him so much. I think true masculinity comes with being confident and open about yourself and your struggles including your failures and admitting that yes indeed he cried. I can't remember which concert it was, I believe in the ''most beautiful moment in life'' era, but I might be wrong, but they had been successfully working as bts for a few years already, when his parents attended one of there concerts for the first time ever, showing their new found support for him, and when he saw them in the audience he had a breakdown and knealt down on the stage and just cried. I don't know if you saw that clip or if other armies had already told you all of this, but I really want you to know how hard he (and the others of course) fought for their dream to be on stage and how much respect Yoongi deserves. I hope you can find this comment on an old video, I love you guys! I think I never commented before but I have been watching you for a long time and liking all videos and I consider becoming a patron for the first time ever because you guys deserve it. You have so much honest respect for the guys, I love that so much. I have been an Army since 2013 and seen them grow, it was the best experience ever and therefore I love it even more that you include old bangtan in your reactions :)!! Stay healthy and all the best to you!
He mentioned Eminem in this, and his was the first concert some in the rapline went to. And now BTS 7 is sold more than Eminem’s new released album. No offense to Eminem but look at what your fanboys have achieved :) Im so proud 💜
Aer /// they collab with lil Nas though? 😅 And yeah I know abt Epik High etc but Eminem is much more popular to the younger masses I guess. So I picked him for demo haha

Hip Hop Lover is what I send to people when they doubt BTS’ knowledge on hip hop. Don’t even try they know more about it then the people that hate on them for it. Don’t let looks deceive you. 💜
Next you have to hear We On. It is one of my favorite BTS songs. Also I love how you guys actually share your thoughts and opinions instead of watching passively, that's why I love your videos. 💜
This is one react that I can use my maturity to my advantage. First, I LOVE this song. It was a B side track on the Album “Dark & Wild” but I listened to it more than the title track. Why? Cuz the production blew me away, because you can hear the emotions in the boys’ voice as they rapped/sang and it spoke TRUTH and lastly because when I read the lyrics afterwards I was blown away and then crazy reminiscent about the artists named in the song. I also felt closer to the boys after hearing that some of the artists that changed their lives first changed mine many years ago. One of my fave songs from childhood is “They reminisce over you ( T. R. O. Y)” by Pete Rock and C.L Smooth. To hear RM speak those names gave me goosebumps. Same for J Hope coming out with the names “Boogaloo and King Tut” speaking the origin of a street dancer and a Breaker or B-Boy. And of course our D-Boy, Min Genius, Suga, AGUST D himself bought it home by laying down HIS origin story. A quick note, Suga’s parents were NOT happy that he wanted to pursue music as a career. He has an older brother who followed the norm and they wanted their son to be stable but I think maybe knowing that he was very unhappy with his life, they decided to sit back and wait on him to make it or not. When they attended one of his concerts in Seoul I think he was sure they were pretty proud of him just like ARMY is always. And can we talk about the hook?!! As a writer the line “has the scent of humans” made me want to cry it was such a beautiful metaphor. It’s a very clever way of saying HipHop is the TRUTH. HipHop is PURELY HUMAN. In it we speak of our LOVE, our DISSAPOINTMENT, our LOSSES, our AMBITION & DREAMS, our INJUSTICES, our ANGER, our JOY and our QUEST FOR A BETTER TOMORROW. Thank you Nico, Blaze and AJJ for reacting to this song. It was a delight watching you really enjoy this song, watching you dissect it and hearing you add your own thoughts. More please... preferably please react to “Move”. I don’t know if you love those rap storytellers like my fave rapper of ALL TIME... Slick Rick the Ruler but “Move” is definitely one of THOSE songs. It always makes my eyes sweat...😏 there’s also a live so if you can react to it, I can promise you’d really like it. Oh and maybe do it like you did this one.. lyrics and then performance. Thanx guys!😘
BTS have so much love because nothing about them is fake, they are genuine with everything they do, their music the passion and dedication time they take to do things. They have so much passion, so much love and they do it because they enjoy it , there might be hardships but they keep going because it's a passion and a love for them Rapping dancing and singing. Hard work patience, raw emotions and lure talent got them to where they are, ARMY helped with live and support, we are there for eachother no matter what and stick together. Even when there are toxic people in the fandom , we try not to bring the boys into things. They work so hard and deserve all the love or the praise for hard work , they started from the bottom and came from a small company and now they are multi millionaires and ambassadors for multiple brands, they change the world even if we don't hear or see it we know. Plenty of people who met them in real life even say they are the most genuine, humble down to earth and passionate guys they have even met. There is soooo much going on in the world right now, and sometimes you need to take your mind off of everything and BTS helps with that; they have songs about rebellion, dreams, hustling and struggling, having haters and even family + friends against you, people being fake towards you behind your back, standing up for what's right BTS have donated to multiple places many times , they have donated, signed petitions silently so it's private and unless the people who were donated to say or post about it we would never know. They do things, they give back and show appreciation, they give thanks to people that helped them get where they are now in life. Just like in hip hop phile and other songs they shout out to other artist who contributed to the music scene and gave them inspiration to make music in the first place In times of need, music, aliances, coming together for a movement and standing United is what helps us get through things together. People if you are protesting peacefully, please be careful and don't have kids with you. If you are outside at any time be careful of curfew and cops around you, stay safe and wear a mask

But I doubt any of them, ANY of them, gave homage to old school like BTS just did. BTS gave credit where credit was due! Without those before them, ANY OF THEM, they wouldn't exist. People often forget that HIP HOP is more than a “genre” and more than rap.
*HIP HOP IS A CULTURE!!!!*
The rapping, disk jockeying (aka DJ-ing), dancing, clothes, slang, mannerisms.
Agree🤗💜
👏👏👏🙌💜
@@auntielu4394 how can
A Korean man carry the torch for black men and boys ? He can only rep and respect himself his Culture heir and forefathers history or erase overwrite and steal black mens and the black boys future identity hijacked and it’s rewards by Asians .
MOVE WILL ALWAYS BE SPECIAL
Move 💜
Move made me love them the most. Their passion to put their stories to their music is what deeply moves me. And the fact that they were able to make a song abt their experience of moving apartment just baffles me in the best way.
@@kdanieecalipkan8131 Agreed, it's such a beautiful song too and very sentimental. 😭💜
Move was THE song when I truly understand how special these 7 guys are

Becca Julia Definitely! It what makes this song so special 🤓
I dont know why i miss this vibe of BTS. Their old songs are underrated but masterpiece. Please keep react to some BTS old songs :
- Rain
- Look here
- We on

OMG one of many fave tracks from them 🔥 ALLOT OF PEOPLE / FANS DONT KNOW THE ORIGINAL TITLE IS “HIP HOP PHILE”
I still call it Hip Hop Phile idec 😂😂
Knew that title I didn't know what hip hop lover was and when I clicked on the video it was the same song lol it said in the album itself that's why.
Klifford123 X yeah “phile” is Greek for “loving” so if you’re a “hip hop phile” that means you’re hip hop loving ☺️💜

“this is why he’s the president” yes
Omg yes y'all finally got to their HOMAGE! Underrated and so many-even fans-don't even know this exists that it's criminal.
I’m glad y’all see bts knows where they stand and how much they respect this culture they grew up learning about.💜
You can never go wrong with the rap line😍
RM with his intelligent word play
HOBI with his amazing flow
SUGA with his swags
They keep mentioning Epik High. They're one of the best hip hop groups in Korea. Yoongi has been a fan of Tablo (the "leader") since forever and they are now friends. Have also worked together and actually produced a song. Tablo is also super hilarious. He has his own podcast on Spotify and is a total absolute Marvel uber nerd! You gotta check him out Nico 😄 (it's in english, he lived in Canada for a long time)
Definitely check out some Epik High stuff too!

And that sexy "I'll be down for your rap, I'll be down for your rhythm" is so underrated, because it adds this tingling feeling you can't escape 🔥🔥
He is a real student of hip-hop. They all are. They really love what they do. I love BTS!!💜💜💜

Peace! ✌️😎💜
Jin never take the tags off his shoes, because he say "it's hip hop". I love this song. So underrated
Hip hop: Hold my influence.
BTS' Namjoon: ok.

Dark world is one of those underrated albums and hip hop is not just a genre it's a cultural phenomenon of creativity and innovation of story telling.

One of my fave songs from childhood is
“They reminisce over you ( T. R.
The lyrics are so amazing.
Love you’re synchronized bobbing to the song
BTS have so much love because nothing about them is fake, they are genuine with everything they do, their music the passion and dedication time they take to do things. They have so much passion, so much love and they do it because they enjoy it , there might be hardships but they keep going because it's a passion and a love for them
Rapping dancing and singing.
There is soooo much going on in the world right now, and sometimes you need to take your mind off of everything and BTS helps with that; they have songs about rebellion, dreams, hustling and struggling, having haters and even family + friends against you, people being fake towards you behind your back, standing up for what's right
BTS have donated to multiple places many times , they have donated, signed petitions silently so it's private and unless the people who were donated to say or post about it we would never know. They do things, they give back and show appreciation, they give thanks to people that helped them get where they are now in life.
Just like in hip hop phile and other songs they shout out to other artist who contributed to the music scene and gave them inspiration to make music in the first place
In times of need, music, aliances, coming together for a movement and standing United is what helps us get through things together.
People if you are protesting peacefully, please be careful and don't have kids with you. If you are outside at any time be careful of curfew and cops around you, stay safe and wear a mask
Essa é mais uma que não pode ser esquecida nunca!
Go back and listen to all the Cyphers. And THEN listen to this song again! RM, Suga, J-Hope (being a street dancer) had gotten so much flack about becoming idols from the underground rap over there. But I doubt any of them, ANY of them, gave homage to old school like BTS just did. BTS gave credit where credit was due! Without those before them, ANY OF THEM, they wouldn't exist.
