Take the seals out and put in warm water squeeze the excess out and they should fit easily. Or at least that is how I have done all of mine over the years. When you seal a couple of sample seals while they seals are damp they settle in place to work until the next replacement. They tens to dry out over time and shrink just enough that it no longer works. Hunting season is coming and it needs to be working properly. I now live in New Mexico for milder winters. But was transplanted from the Oscoda, MI. The winters no longer worked with my health. Good Luck.
Kind of wish I'd seen your video before replacing mine. I think my seals failed because I'd store it with the tab on lock instead of store. Old one still cuts bags ok.
That's a good point. For most of the time I've owned mine I never considered that I was squishing the seal by storing it in the locked position. I guess it's nice that it took this long for the gasket to wear out considering that.
Mine had trouble sucking the air out for it to seal wish I would have seen this before I went and bought another one which I might not like because they don't have the kind like I had years ago😊
They have discontinued spare parts for this model so please don't buy a new one (FoodSaver Lock & Seal VS4500). Given they recommend changing the gaskets and sealing strip every 12 months, all I can say is buyer beware.
Thank you. Very helpful!
Nothing makes me click off a video than a rambling presenter. Not the case here. You always find a good balance in the level of detail.
Whew, you had me worried for a second that I was a rambler! I definitely try to get to the point in these videos.
Agree 100 on both accounts! Great info/job. Hopefully I'll be able to quit cussing at mine in the near future. 🤞🙏
Good
info, thank you.

OMG thanks for this super-simple solution that worked perfectly for my 20+ yr old workhorse Seal-a-Meal machine!
Thanks for the info

Dream is to have a huge yard and do gardening, freeze dry and canning.
I'm slowly vacuum sealing, but gardening I don't have time .

Wow. I have this problem but I’ve only had this unit for a year. And I definitely have not sealed 1000 items. So disappointed with this product.
Thanks for your information.
