Great video with guitar specs and playing demo! It’s a beautiful guitar. I would like your opinion - do you find the sound a bit tinny sounding with little if any warmth? What are the strings on it and do you think other strings may make a difference? Thank you
I like this Fender, but I like Taylor GS mini too… I don’t know which I’ll buy…
We encourage you to visit your local Long & McQuade (or other music store if you're not in Canada) and try them both out to see which feels and sounds best to you in person.
Jjust so you're aware, there's essentially only one version of the Fender Malibu Player using the same tonewoods (sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, walnut fingerboard) but in various colours. Whereas there are several versions of the GS Mini using different tonewoods (sapele, mahogany, koa, spruce, rosewood, etc). This gives you more options to be able to pick the best one for you, but could also cause "analysis paralysis" which is when you're presented with so many options it's difficult to choose one. Also note that the different tonewoods that Taylor uses in different GS Mini models changes the price, and could end up costing double what the Malibu Player does.
So if you like the look and sound of the Fender Malibu Player and just want to choose your colour (natural, sunburst, olympic white or fiesta red) then go with the Malibu Player. If you want to explore the different tonewood options, and have an acoustic guitar that looks more like a "traditional" acoustic guitar, or perhaps more exotic with the wood grain, and have a bit more in your budget, then go with the GS Mini.
