I would like to take a moment to really appreciate Pete’s ability to play simple chords, simple scales, on simple guitars and make them sound incredible. Watching him teaches me a lot. Also these things are great for the price.
Nice intro, so warm and cheerful. A pair of players who work well together is awesome. And now I am chair-dancing for the outro. Thank you folks for a great Saturday morning accompaniment. And tell Fender I bought a Malibu because of this video!
I loved your video! I am a singer, usually I don't play any instrument. But in this coronavirus season, after watching this I decided to buy the redondo fender guitar, and start playing the guitar by myself to keep composing songs! thanks a lot! :D also loved the catchy flowers printed shirt and cap, it rapidly got my attention and started your video right away.
Man what a sweet jam. And literally the only plugged in review of these fenders on the tube, which is odd cause the electronics are super on these guys. Pete is becoming one of my favorite guitarist!
Ahhh! Pete got me buying one of these. I love your style when it come to playing acoustic. Really motivates me to pick up an acoustic and jam with a looper.
Except that if you try a fender acoustic in store you’ll see that they tend to be hard to play and a lot more dry sounding than in this video. Just my experience even on models in the £400-700 price range.
Electric, I can agree with you... but then I wonder why their acoustics have been bastions of mediocrity for 6 decades. The most talented luthiers build great acoustics and Fender has never done that.
Fender acoustics are a bit ho-hum untill you get to the Paramount series. Then you get a lot for the money, they play and sound great both acousticly and plugged in. And the proof is in bands like modest mouse using them on stage which we know they get them for free but they have held up well.
In these video I realized how fundamental it is to have the same guy, same phrase, energy and playing for comparison. I know this was not a video with that purpose but in my case I was in between buying redondo or new porter. When I started watching the video in a snap I chose the NewPorter. To be honest around the fifth minute I didn't shut down the video and I open another window on the browse and did some emails while it kept playing. The jam started so I was curious and I came back and full screened the video and guess what? SUPRISE! now the Redondo was being played by the guy with the cap and instantly changed my opinion.
Although I never did see the headstock of a typical electric being implemented on an acoustic to be a really comfortable thing to me, I did find the performance of these to still hold up and sound great indeed. Great work as always!
I just bought a blue Malibu Player down at the local pawn shop in beautiful condition for $180. I fking love it. The pickup sounds amazing and the tuner is very convenient.
This is the channel to see great guitar players. Those fenders sound great for the price. I have an all solid Fender paramount pm2 and it sounds and plays fantastic.
Thanks fellas... (Pete & Sam) for such an entertaining and rewarding presentation... Have a small 'stable' of guitars... and some years back... had to bring home a Fender Redondo 'Player' (Jade) which I could NOT leave hanging on the wall when I only walked in to buy a harmonica... I think they are cleverly 'crafted' for that specific "Tone" that separates them from all solid woods... and because of personal 'like' (?) I immediately changed strings to Bronze-wound instead of factory issued Steel Strings. My expectations were totally satisfied... Whether acoustic or played through the Amp, I am a happy chappie !
I recently purchased the Newporter. It is an amazing instrument. I got it in a tobacco sunburst. I rock and blues and it is very nice. The range is great. The cutaway is more than most. You can easily reach all notes. It was 439 at Guitar Center.
I just picked one up off reverb used for 250. I've never owned a Fender and I didn't have an acoustic. I needed something easy for a noob to sit beside my Ibanez dual humbucker shredder. I'm really excited to get it in my hands and you make it sound like a good buy.
Thanks, I watched this video and I ordered a new Fender Newporter. This is one of the only videos with the guitars plugged in. I'm guessing you guys like the Fishman electronics?
@@kennethdon3619 Exactly, I figured he is around around 32, so that would put him born in 87, maybe started playing guitar at 10, so 1997. Of course, he plays so well he probably came out of the womb playing and 97 is way off.
First, I want to say how much I love your videos especially the Guitar Paradisio features! You do a great job of keeping it very entertaining while providing great music and solid information! I just purchased the Redondo Player this week in the newer Sunburst finish. I'm amazed by the quality of this instrument and not only because of the price point. It's simply a great instrument that if someone put into my hands and didn't tell me how much it cost, I would simply just love as a great sounding instrument which is a joy to play! The Redondo has a punchy, bright, and vibrant quality with incredible natural sustain even when not plugged in. When plugged in to my Fishman Loudbox Mini it sounds incredible as well! The Fishman pickup, which is identical in design to the one on my Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat (which is a concert sized acoustic-electric, another wonderful guitar at any price), really delivers! I never thought I would be a fan of Fender acoustic guitars but I love the two that I have and in the future would definitely consider one of the all solid guitars in this series such as the Newporter. I'm very curious to see how the top of the line in this series would compared to a similar priced Taylor, and I have a Taylor which I love so I'm a huge fan of their guitars!!
That was a nice intro guys....just got in from work....made a cuppa...stuck my headphones on and closed my eyes....Brilliant....thank you....like the fender guitars....for Me the more an Acoustic guitar feels like an Electric Guitar the better....I want the sound of Acoustic guitar but the feeling of an easy to play Electric....I like to string them with Super Slinky 9s....it's probably wrong but for me it works ...
Pete first met Sam at a guitar breaks event last year. Sam currently teaches at Water bear but has done various licklibrary dvds. He also writes articles for their guitar interactive online magazine. He's ridiculously talented especially when it comes to 7 and 8 string technical metal and fusion stuff.
Are you guys ever going to do that video where the captain chooses his favorite amps( morgan pr12 and victory v40.ect...) and plays them blindfolded with the Roland blues cube thrown in?
ordered a malibu player for Christmas, been playing for about 6 months. am i going with the right option with a 200-300 budget, well i went to my local guitar centre and the Malibu just sounded the best for myself personally over a £40 beginner guitar. would love to hear some feedback on this comment :)
Hi Great video Boys if you S-holdet recoment one Guitar for me Playing for my son at Home... I’ve Been looking at the Redondo i Think it’s the better buy for me the couple of 100 Danish kr not the problem... Whitch one would u go for. ? Thanks Regeres Peter
Amazing guys love fender acoustics, got a pm3 myself because of Pete and Ariel's review. But seriously.......MORE ACOUSTIC PARADISO..... STOP STUFFING AROUND
Recently the Alvarez sounded surpringly good to me, strumming. This blue Fender however, disappointingly boxy. But as said, better suited for blues. I do think I had to wait too long for the strumming sound. In acoustic reviews it would be nice if some different uses were demoed in the first minute (however nice the soloing and picking is). I do wonder whether recording and compression by YT gives a different impression of these things.
Have followed Sam for many years and without doubt a skilled guitarist and nice guy, but I don’t think his home is on Acoustic Paradiso. Please get the “Pete n Mick” band back together, we miss the chemistry
Good show, lads. Those el cheapo acoustics appear to be a good value. And I appreciate you dialing back a lot of the annoying banter that gets in the way of many Anderson productions... Thanks for your time.
I have an older fender acoustic back when they were really trying to become a super premium acoustic brand like Martin or Gibson and it sounds really nice with a sitka spruce top and flame maple back and sides. The nicest part is that it’s headstock looks normal whereas these new fender acoustics have the electric headstock and honestly they could be made from 10,000 year old redwood and I wouldn’t care or like it. It looks cheap and dumpy to me. If quality is what they’re chasing this isn’t it. It looks like someone bought a nice acoustic and broke the neck so instead of getting it fixed or replaced properly they just went out and got a mighty mike replacement neck for a strat and thought that was good enough for them. It really looks like a starter guitar brand not a brand that pioneered electric guitar and amplification. In other words, I don’t much care for it.
It's amazing what our eyes gravitate towards that mean nothing. Like, I can't get over those headstocks on an acoustic. It really shouldn't matter, but it does.
Listening to Pete must be one of the best musical experiences one can have. What an amazing human.
I’m sure Pete has claimed all those free lessons on all these guitars. How else would he be this good!
I would like to take a moment to really appreciate Pete’s ability to play simple chords, simple scales, on simple guitars and make them sound incredible. Watching him teaches me a lot. Also these things are great for the price.
No kidding he plays beautifully. I got the redondo and dang plugged in it's really nice. The neck is awesome.
I was thinking the same about Pete!
I bought a Fender CE Acoustic 25 years ago and she still plays like a dream and never needed any adjustments or repairs.
For people that think this kind of headstock is new on acoustics, Elvis played a Fender like this (the Kingman) in the sixties already.
best comment ever!! that is so true.
I have the fender kingman elvis signature.😍😄
Think early Martin’s. Over a century ago they brought the inline headstock from Europe. Fender smartly made it more sexy.
The California series is based on Fender's sixties/seventies designs, along with the colors.
Nice intro, so warm and cheerful. A pair of players who work well together is awesome.
And now I am chair-dancing for the outro.

I just feel like Fender is the best overall guitar manufacturer there is.
Except that if you try a fender acoustic in store you’ll see that they tend to be hard to play and a lot more dry sounding than in this video. Just my experience even on models in the £400-700 price range.
@@Nikoo033 - Agreed. Fender acoustics have never been great. Mediocre is about all I can say of them, and not close to justifying the price tag.

I LOVE YOUR ACOUSTIC REVIEWS!
Wish they would do more often.
I always thought the inline headstock on an acoustic looked funky.
Still haven't changed my mind...
we're just too accustomed to seeing it for electric
Given its an electric profile neck with sweet electronics it kind of fits the bill. Not unsimilar to an ovation.
the california series represents the 60´s Era. that´s why they used those colors and that headstock. Elvis has a model with that same headstock.

Great job! Can you please let us know the exact brand and gauge of the strings on the dreadnought?
How's the action on the fret board? Are the strings low enough?
yea they are pretty low, and come with a key if you want to make even lower

The Malibu version comes with a pink plastic case shaped like a jeep.
Are you guys going to re-upload the Marshall shootout video? I'm hoping the audio can get fixed, really wanted to hear the difference.
