The song starts: djentlee - "This will be low energy" 20 seconds later: Kami Band - "Hold my riff" Su was 16 at the time of this show in 2014, but you'd never know it from her performance. She was more of a pro at 16 than many twice her age who've been doing it longer. Su has three more solo songs. Amore, No Rain No Rainbow, and Rondo of Nightmare.
Great reaction. When they play two nights at one venue they tend to call them Red Night and Black Night. This was the case here at the Budokan in Tokyo in March 2014. When they played Tokyo Dome in 2016 they did a Red Night and Black Night there as well. As has been said there are two more 'official' Su-metal solos - 'Amore' and 'No Rain, No Rainbow'. However for her 15th birthday Su covered a song called 'White Love' and on her 16th birthday she covered 'Tamashi No Rufuran'. Both those songs were big hits in 1997, the year she was born. Also at the legend 1997 show she did a one-off performance of 'Akatsuki' called the unfinished version which, despite having the same lyrics and melody, could be a completely different song - it is just Su, piano and strings. On the 2018 tour Su was performing the song we now know is called 'Kagerou' as a solo (at that time we didn't know the official title and it was identified as 'Tattoo' on an overseen set list). Su is an amazing performer and she owns every stage she stands on and has done so from a very young age. I hope you will react to all the other solos including 'Akatsuki' unfinished version. My personal favourite of all Su's solos is 'Amore'.
⚡ / 🔴 🌙 Guitarists that night were Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura. As usual BOH was on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. Su doesn't need to fear any of the pyrotechnics because she is made of actual fire. : ) That solo, and Rondo of Nightmare from the same concert, are what sold me on BABYMETAL. Before that I liked them, and thought the whole idea was a lot of fun, but seeing Su in full Metal Queen mode turned me into a diehard fan. An interesting thing about 'Akatsuki'. It's written by combining "Red" and "Moon". Which helps explain the red moon imagery BABYMETAL uses in many of their concerts. On the track listing the character "Kurenai" (often translated as a deep red or crimson) is used instead of "Red" as a tribute to the X-Japan song of that name. As other commenters have mentioned, Su was 16 years old at these March 2014 Budokan performances.
it is interesting you mention the pyro, Boh has a funny story about how he forgot one was set to go off right next to him and it scared the crap out of him lol
"Akatsuki" can be written 紅月 (rather than 赤月) whether or not the X-Japan song "Kurenai" is being invoked. As such, "kurenai" isn't used "instead" of "red", it means "red".
@@OtobokeGaijin6218 So we both seem to agree that "aka" means "red" and "tsuki" means "moon". Of course BABYMETAL use a lot of red moon imagery in their concerts, especially for this song. Kurenai is not just red. It's usually translated as crimson or deep red. I don't think anyone other than BABYMETAL ever spell "Akatsuki" as 紅月. Have you found any other examples? There's really no reason it would be spelled in that unusual way, other than to reference the X-Japan song. Du-metal and Duane Metal both agree about this. (I'd leave a link, but my last comment with links to those two sources disappeared).
Red Night and Black Night were the names of the two performances at the Budokan in 2014. The Nippon Budokan is an octagonal venue originally built for judo events the '64 Tokyo Olympics. So a rotating stage makes a lot of sense. You have to be "invited" to play there and it is the ambition of a lot of Japanese bands to be invited. The 1st rock band to play there was actually British, an obscure band called "The Beatles". As for Su-metal's confidence, there is a story about her when she 1st appeared at the Saitama Super Arena in 2008 when she was part of Karen Girl's and 10 years old. Same location as in Babymetal's "Road of Resistance Live In Japan" video. The event, "Animelo Summer Live" is a bunch of groups performing anime songs. So 10 years old, in a huge venue, biggest annual concert of anime songs, and what did Su do before their performance? She took a nap.
Great reaction! It's easy to forget that Su was only SIXTEEN years old and is a tiny 155cm singing goddess in this video! And they are at the prestigious Budokan arena in Japan. The Beatles, Ozzy Osbourne, Cheap Trick, and Bob Dylan have performed there too. This is one of my most favorite BABYMETAL songs and performances because it is the most badass yet touching songs I have ever heard: "Going over thousands of nights, some love shall survive. So, until my body perishes, until my life disappears, I shall keep on cherishing this love." 🦊🤘
There's a story from when Su was 10 years old and in her first group, Karen Girl's with two others. They were playing a song at a festival in the Saitama Super Arena, The two other young ladies were nervous at the prospect of performing in front of 20,000+ people, and staff had to calm their nerves. When it came time to hit the stage, they had to wake Su up; she was bored and took a nap. She has the utmost confidence on stage, even going back to school recitals as a kid (which are on YT) she had the confidence. There are plenty of Su solos out there, all good. Check out No Rain No Rainbow - Black Night which is the song she sang immediately before Akatsuki. The NRNR Legend S version shows how she can command the stage with just her voice, Black Night dovetails nicely with Akatsuki. There is also Akatsuki Unfinished, where she is accompanied only with a piano. Completely different take on the emotions of the song. Also White Love or Tamashi no Rufaren are noteable.
Su-Metal was 16 years old here. How did she have the confidence? This stuff just doesn't phase her. She has been performing on stage since she was 6 years old. All she has ever wanted in life is to be a singer. It's just what she was born to do. There are four Su-Metal solos and four Black BABYMETAL songs. Su's solos: - Akatsuki - Rondo of Nightmare - Amore - No Rain, No Rainbow Black BABYMETAL Songs: - Onedari Daisakusen - 4 No Uta (also referred to as Song 4) - Sis Anger - GJ Also, the "Unfinished" version of Akatsuki is worth checking out as well. It is like a slower, acoustic version of the song basically.
I get the impression that Su wa born to do this... Such a diminutive young lady who seems to exude confidence, and completely owning this performance (as usual). Her presence is something to behold. 🦊🤘🔥🖤
5:23 The pinky finger represents a legendary story in Japan, I believe someone else will explain it clearly. My favorite AKATSUKI is the Budokan version and Wembley version. The rotating stage of the Budokan and KAMI BAND solo are very special. And the big red moon in the background of the Wembley stage is amazing!
Mee too, I don't understand what su saying, because don't think, feel !! My favorite part is when Ohmura and Leda do a double guitar solo, it's like a guitar hero. Akatsuki and Rondo of Nighmare are great when performing at Budokan Black Night, that Red stage is so badass. Good reaction 🤘 and see you in BABYMETAL - Amore Live
This is the song that make me fans. My favorite song. It's one of Su-Metal solo song. She's 16 in this show. By that age she's probably already have 10 years experience as a performer hence the confidence. As for pinky gesture she made, in East Asian culture it's believed that two person destinied for each other were linked by this imaginary red thread on their pinky finger. The song talk about undying love and mentions red thread. Hope that helps. And good reaction🤘
Nice & thanks again from Japan 有り難う💛。 You already have a lot of information about this Akatsuki 2014. Now in 2021, on Feb.19, Akatsuki became a very special song for BABYMETAL fans. This song had not been performed for 2 years and 4 months, but they did it again that day. I witnessed it at Budokan, the same legendary arena in this video. (They did it on Feb.20, too.) That performance was incorporated with unfinished version partially and fighting choreo by 2 muscular female dancers as they did in 2018 dark side shows. Honestly I can not remember clearly what I saw and what I heard because it was too surprising and too mesmerizing. I have to confirm it when the official video is released. There is a certain thing, however. I felt celestial bliss there.
Check out: Babymetal - Tamashii No Rufurran It's from back their early years when they didnt have enough songs to perform live. They did some covers. This one particularly was Su-Metal's solo and oh man. She made the song her own. Sidenote: the song Tamashii No Rufurran originates from one of the classic anime from the 90's, Evangelion.
Great reaction, thanks! "Akatsuki" is my favorite song, probably ever. And to me this performance is the live definition of "perfection". I know there are more great performances: bigger stages, bigger venues, being more mature... but this one has something special and I love it. Su is a total performer and she already was back then. Until next time!
Suzuka Nakamoto is the sweetest, most humble young lady and would never dream of glaring at anyone. Su-Metal will burn your soul with her death glare and feast upon it with delight. Isn't she awesome?
Black Night was the second night of the Budokan concerts in March 2014, so Su was 16. Your thought that this might be a gentler song is pretty perceptive as there is a quieter "unfinished" version with just piano instrumentation that Su sang between Headbanger and Babymetal Death in Legend 1997. I prefer that version and now that Su is a little older I wish she'd revisit it. ua-cam.com/video/qhFLOy19mxA/v-deo.html Here Akatsuki is translated as "Crimson Moon". It's a Su solo and has been out of the setlist for a while now that BM is just Su-metal and Moametal, but they brought it back in the current set of concerts at Budokan Doomsday. I'm really glad they did because the shows are better with Su solos and Akatsuki is one of my favourites. It's a hymn to undying love (or at least keeping it's memory alive) and uses the symbolism of the "red thread" to connect lovers; there's lots of red imagery in the lyrics of this song, but I'm not sure that the "Miss Havisham" never ending love aspect of the message is one to be emulated. There is also a Japanese anime called "Akatsuki" where the protagonists wear capes and I think that Su's cape might be a nod to that, or it might just be a dramatic prop. Su solos are: Akatsuki Amore Rondo of Nightmare No Rain No Rainbow
IMO if you watch enough of SU's performances it looks like she has studied the stage presence of the greatest performers of the last 70 years. You can see a lot of Freddie Mercury's style and at the end of Road of Resistance it reminds me a lot of Elvis when he did his comeback.
There are 4 Su solo songs. This is my personal favorite. No Rain No Rainbow is the song you think this is at the start. It's a straight ballad. Rondo of Nightmare is a dark song about a girl who is pursued by a spirit that she can't see and right before she dies she asks to see it. Amore is like Akatsuki except way more power metal. Kagerou was originally a Su solo called 'Tattoo' but it was renamed and changed when Yui officially left the group. So it's still nearly a solo, she does almost all of the singing. Of course almost all of the songs on the third album are like that. 'BxMxC' was most likely intended to be a Black Babymetal song (performed by Yui and Moa).
Thanks for your reaction, if you've not seen more of her solo performances then you are missing out. Only one of the songs is low energy in comparison. Suzuka/Su-metal always throws her full energy in a performance and all her power of emotion. And she would be at 110% focus always. From an early age you can see many of her qualities all the way back when she was just 9 or maybe earlier. Even including her use of a finger up in the air :-) She can make grown metal heads cry. All this time 'only' thing she has been doing is learning new songs/performances and honing her skills to and trying to keep her voice steady during her late teens while her voices changes. Adding new styles ever new album. Well, I think songs are always in development when they are not touring and they aren't in school ! (which Moametal still is right now, she is in university,. Probably also why Yuimetal hasn't restarted her career, focusing on her education). At least one of the songs from Metal Galaxy (released 2019), Night Night Burn!, was first in development at the same time as Megitsune (released 2013) and I assume shelved for a while.
You have actually already seen Su solo. You reacted to rondo of nightmare couple months ago. Su has in total 4 solo songs the ones you havent seen are called No Rain No Rainbow and Amore
@@djentleeReacts I would recommend Amore. There is a great compilation video where you see Su stood above the HUGE screens at the Tokyo Dome ua-cam.com/video/RZlR3IGpn24/v-deo.html
Well...does it really matter, how much energy it has or if it's metal when our queen sings? And yes, she is a born performer for sure. Sigh...I miss the Kami-Band in those old looks haha. Nice react, keep it going!
now you need to react to this song but the unfinished version with just a piano. you dont know what she is saying but you will cry because of her passion and emotion coming through her singing. this version has made many a grown man cry. you will feel it.
Great reaction! Su's confidence isn't a mystery; she was a model at 3 years old & has been in front of a camera &/or audiences ever since - it's her norm. Well that, & of course it could be because she's so FN AWESOME!! Her legendary "death stare" & the BABYMETAL Unhelpful But Helpful Guide statement, "she eats men's souls for breakfast" is just Queen Su-metal's way of saying, "The Fox god is present, act accordingly." Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult
AKATSUKI DA!! Do you know why she has such a confidence while being only 16? Because she's been doing this for years!! Since you already watched the Guide, you know she was in "Karen Girls" before being in Babymetal... Well, while in that group, she performed at the Saitama Super Arena in front of 20k people while being 10 years old :D
5:24 I think that gesture is "yubikiri" or pinky promise... is promise made by two person with lockin their pinkies finger together... and whoever is broke the promise will lose that finger... is like tradition on japanese children... Im not even japanese... but I get more than I expected lol.. cause there is many reference to japanese culture from them...
Here, the pinky is a reference to the red string of fate that links two soulmates. The song's lyrics : "Even if the red thread flowing in my hand breaks, I still feel we are tied." (source of the translation: Du-metal's blog)
I would recommend you to react to No rain No rainbow its ligit. There is three of it that's hit in the UA-cam. I would probably suggest you "no rain rainbow" Baptism XX in 2017 actually released in 2018 it's dope, emotional and all mix
The pinky finger refers to the belief that when two people destined to be lovers are born they are connected by an ethereal red thread so that they will always find each other. during this part she is singing "Even if the red thread flowing in my hand breaks, I still feel we are tied." This is a love song btw if you hadn't figured that out lol
@@chrisharris1522 A little correction there, the red thread myth not necessarily for two lovers only. Because in some Han dynasty Chinese martial art drama I watch long time ago mentions red threads between friends, or even rival/enemy😁.
@@gothorn2758 In Japan, the red thread theory is meaningful only between lovers (soul mates) whereas its origin comes from Chinese old story. If I had said to my rival in a weight lifting contest when I was in high school "there is a red thread between you and me", he would have run away, screaming. Then I would have won or got disqualified. 😄
@@flugelhornoldman1362 Oh I didn't know that in Japan red threads only about two lovers😅. But in that Chinese drama I watch red threads signifies fated meeting whether it's fighting to death meeting or friends fated meeting or lover fated meeting 😁. Thanks for the info 🦊🤘

Ah yeah I forgot that was solo. Thanks!
@@djentleeReacts I would recommend Amore. There is a great compilation video where you see Su stood above the HUGE screens at the Tokyo Dome ua-cam.com/video/RZlR3IGpn24/v-deo.html

Su and Kamis are simply Perfect !!!
nice reaction! try "amore" another beautiful su solo this song is sick!
Suzuka Nakamoto abandoned her Pop status and rejuvenated under Su-Metal and becoming into a Metal Goddess.
Great reaction! Su's confidence isn't a mystery; she was a model at 3 years old & has been in front of a camera &/or audiences ever since - it's her norm. Well that, & of course it could be because she's so FN AWESOME!! Her legendary "death stare" & the BABYMETAL Unhelpful But Helpful Guide statement, "she eats men's souls for breakfast" is just Queen Su-metal's way of saying, "The Fox god is present, act accordingly."
Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult
One of my favorite songs from my favorite group.👍
Absolutely Queen! Su is simply Perfect. Good react again dude. You need watch "Amore" another Su solo. Is Amazing! See you innthe next! 🤟🏻 🦊 🔥 🔥 🔥
Please react to:

アカツキでBABYMETALにハマる人多い
excellent content, when she is Su-Metal, she is possessed by the fox-god and becomes the Fox-Goddess of metal.
THE QUEEN

I think that gesture is "yubikiri" or pinky promise... is promise made by two person with lockin their pinkies finger together... and whoever is broke the promise will lose that finger... is like tradition on japanese children...

Yeah you right...
Sadly he stop translate any song after MR
🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻Queen Su
I would recommend you to react to No rain No rainbow its ligit.
There is three of it that's hit in the UA-cam.
I would probably suggest you "no rain rainbow" Baptism XX in 2017 actually released in 2018 it's dope, emotional and all mix
If you were wearing that cape you would be confident as well
The pinky finger refers to the belief that when two people destined to be lovers are born they are connected by an ethereal red thread so that they will always find each other. during this part she is singing "Even if the red thread flowing in my hand breaks,
I still feel we are tied." This is a love song btw if you hadn't figured that out lol
@@gothorn2758 You could be correct in China.
ありがとうございました。止めないで最後まで聴いてくださいね♪
Great reaction, as always! But if u thought that was emotional u should check out the “Unfinished” version of this song... 🦊 🦊 🦊
